    I am going to try the shock treatment to try to fix stuck piston rings on a KIA oil guzzler.

      You should try valvoline restore and protect to see if it will clean the rings off.

    I'm glad you were able to figure out the problem. Do you still fish much this time of the year? There are still decent slugs of fish out there. I'm going to be busy with work for a while, so I won't be out for a bit.

      I normally will take a break until about March/April but I think I’m going to try some local spots for catfish. Hopefully work let’s up and you’ll be back on the water soon!

      @@Bythewater gotcha. I'll be target catfish as well. I fish year round. With recent reports, I might have to take a sick day.

      @@TomyTekOutdoors I’m going to run the boat this weekend to keep the decarb process going and if I trip over a few fish I’m not complaining

      @@Bythewater sounds good. It's great to just get out on the water to enjoy the peace and scenery. I hope your motor is all good after that. I started looking for a smaller boat for crabbing and shallow water fishing.

      If you can find a Maritime 1690 or 1890 snatch it up. Best small skiff out there.

    Looking online for this product, it was strange that buying three bottles of the 12oz size was cheaper than buying one bottle of the 32oz, and you get 4 extra ounces.
    I just shocked treated my 2010 Malibu and only after about 30 miles of driving, the engine has regained its power, I don't feel the need to press the accelerator pedal further down to get more get up and go. Now I'm hoping that the oil rings get unstuck so that it sucks down less engine oil.

      I noticed the money thing too. DID you do the 1 oz per 10 gal or shock treatment 2 oz per gallon??

      @RayleighCriterion 2 місяці тому

      @@bobreese4807 I did both the shock treatment using 6 gallons of gasoline and the maintenance treatment of 1 oz per 10 gallons using a second 12 oz bottle.

      @@RayleighCriterion Did you change the oil after shock treatment? Not saying you have to but I saw online somewhere to do it.

      @@bobreese4807 I also added 5 oz to the crankcase of Seafoam, ran that for 250 miles, then changed the oil.

    Did you try the boat out after the mechanic gave it a “tune up” or only after adding the ring free?

    • @Bythewater
      @Bythewater  Рік тому +1

      Tried it after the tune up and there was still hesitation due to dirty injectors. Ran like a different boat after running the Ring-Free through it

      @@Bythewater Interesting, thank you. I guess I’ll just keep using it on the new outboard. The Marine mechanic insisted.

    The only way to know if it decarboned the engine is to visually inspect before and after.

  • @fishhunt9874
    @fishhunt9874 Рік тому

    Make sure you change your oil right after you decarbonize the engine. All that carbon gets flushed down into your crank case!

      Yes I& you are one of the few with a 2 stroke you do not need to change oil that you do not have. For all the rest with 4 strokes, pay attention to this.
