- Timesave was thanks to a new clip that was discovered in the game's intro sequence which saves 50 seconds. Ironically this means we're back to watching the game's intro when we go for top times in a category. I'd recommend most runners to still skip the intro though with the intro skip time offset.

I never thought I would ever see a Zelda speedrun get an "Intro Skip" skip, yet here we are.
I always wondered why when they sealed Gannon, they didn’t take the secret stone back
Like Ganon’s stone that he had stolen from Sonia? Good question 🤔
I think the implication is that it's pretty securely bound to his head, like even at his own power, he found it hard to dislodge it during the fight with Link, but perhaps also the seal made it impossible to alter his body from the outside?

Every bit has a glitch or a skip or a specific movement that makes it (theoretically) the fastest it could ever be. Plateau couldn't be skipped, and neither can the Sky Island. From a glitched Intro to a glitched "Ganon Dungeon" entry and a Boss fight that couldn't go any faster! I cannot fathom a glitch that could make this as fast as BotW..

The intro
Intro out of bounds saves 50 seconds. which means every run now gets 50 seconds free time save if they simply WATCH the intro.
Why speedrunner never use teleport to TOT , after finish 4th shrine inside the cave , i wonder cause i've never played the game but im just curious all runner coming out of cave for traveling to TOT , some one help me
Because the Temple of Time itself doesn't have a fast travel point, closest is Ultrahand shrine.
Going out of cave first reduces load time

If you get a new controller, after mine died (too much drift to be usable) I finally found one I'm happy with ... 8bitdo Pro 2. Cheaper than Nintendo's pro controller, with the same or higher quality, plus extra features. I generally use the bottom buttons for L3 and R3, and use the star button for turbo. In TotK I usually keep the A button in turbo mode and leave the rest normal. It doesn't seem prone to drift, but if it ever does, the dead zones are programmable so it's easy to fix. Unsure if it's allowed for speedrunning, due to its turbo and macro functions, but I doubt those would matter in TotK.
Different controller for Smash though. For that, a cheap asymmetric PowerA model with digital L2/R2 instead of analog. The stick placement makes it easier to avoid mis-inputs, and the digital triggers are faster/easier to press as buttons. Still has programmable bottom buttons though, which helps reduce hand contortions.
It'd be nice if Nintendo would finally make controllers without drift, and if they'd give it features in firmware for remapping, turbo, and programmable extra buttons on the bottom. Sell two varieties, one symmetrical and one with the left stick and D-pad swapped. And, of course, support standard bluetooth and standard USB so they can be used with other platforms. This stuff should all be standard... but as-is, 3rd-party hardware is needed.
Nice run, wish Nintendo release Windwaker HD from the WiiU on the Switch, since for a while they loved doing ports (of a port)...

There’s a new out of bounds that saves time in the intro. It saves about 50 seconds.

I mean that isn‘t that crazy of an achievement. The game basically has no requirements to finish and almost everyone could finish the game in under two hours.

Congrats on being the first to achieve sub 45! Amazing effort! You're always the first to try new strats. Folks like P5 then hone what others have demonstrated. Now, each have their own strengths, & we need both kinds of folks. But, still massive respect to you for consistently going out of your comfort zone & leading the way for others.

I think there’s a different category where you only run GSI starting from room of awakening; that category is already under 30min iirc (although part of that is bc that category skips the intro)
The world record for GSI is 24:16, but for any% it's probably slightly slower because you need more dupes

@@squllguys5606 In what constitutes as a "skip", I'm just saying that I'm surprised the many cutscenes during the beginning of the game was skipped. Not saying the intro with Zelda was entirely skipped by loading a save file instead. I hope that makes sense.

Speaking of the tedium that is the sages, since Tulin has a prompt when flying, they could've given Riju a prompt when aiming a bow, I think Sidon's could've been something to do with blocking since it's also a shield, and I dunno slap Yun onto a throw or something. They're so clunky.

You can still skip it if you add the time it takes to go through the intro "normally"
@@gymnast86unds like a perfect compromise to me. Still comfortable for "casual speedrunning" (if that even makes sense), but with possibly all kind of optimisations for whoever wants (and can... Because I cannot 😂)... And honestly I like to see WR starting from the real beginning, and that it is the case for good gameplay reasons.

What is he doing to his weapon to cause so much damage to Ganondorf?? I can see he does something with the ability wheel before the fight starts but its impossible to tell what it is. I assume its glitching the weapon somehow?
Abyssoft does some history of speedrun videos, but he focuses on specific parts of the history, which is kinda cool.
It hurts me as a zelda fan to hear someone say skyward sword battles for top spot 🏌️♀️

I do not use the sages unless it's a must. I keep Tulin out for travel purposes about 70% of the time because he ends up blowing all my stuff away as I'm trying to collect it.

Can somone help me understand? Everyone keeps saying that theres no need to skip the intro because of this ceiling clip which saves 60 seconds.... but skipping the intro still saves 5-6 mins by comparison no? So how is this quicker it doesnt make sense to me!
Basically, the intro skip saves IRL time, not in game time, if you watch a run with intro skip they actually start the timer at around 6:40. The difference here is that people arrive at the room of awakening roughly 50 seconds faster on the timer than before, therefore it is faster
