I love your style and design. I have to vote for the straight floors. Diagonal, as different as it may seem, leans toward trendy and in two years, you’d be sick of the fad.

I’m really enjoying these videos. In the last one, I moved that copper tub around in the bathroom in my minds eye. Now I’m imagining diagonal flooring which I’ve never seen before. Keep the dreaming coming.

You truly sound more excited about the diagonal flooring than the railing. Also the floor you love would be everywhere, the railing les impactful. But your house and at this point I’m sure you have already decided. Love the passion.

An auger stove would fit so beautifully with the brick surround, could fit into your old world, European feel. Could be a great solution and they can be any colour you want. Personally I like the Italian models. ❤
Thank you! This was my original thought too but I am too attached to having an island directly across from my range so I can easily turn from chopping to cooking. ❤️
Laying tile diagonally is an ancient timeless classic look . Way way back in the day when the wealthier people couldn't get exotic materials shipped across the ocean they paid extra in labor to have common materials laid out in different ways . The more labor intensive the tiles, wood work , were installed was a way to elevate the manor, castle, chateau etc from the farmhouse
I vote straight if you stick with those awesome bavarian/scandanavian (I can't decide what I think they look like haha) railing. Can you do diagonal in an isolated space like a bedroom/office? And straight in the open main areas? Hear you on the trying to avoid living in future dreams instead of the present. It's fun....but not the healthiest. Sort of like instagram versus reality.... But at least your dream is actually becoming a reality really soon!

I’m not giving an opinion because these are your dreams and you will work it out in the end. Personally, I find making these sort of decision stressful and really it should be fun. At least I’m having fun watching along.😊

You don’t have to do diagonal in the all house. Change direction is kind of fun!
Gorgeous! I’m curious about the DC install floors..are they outdoor tiles? Maybe bluestone? I love the way you somehow made this home comfy and yet absolutely beautiful. That’s a hard mix I’m trying in my lake home.. until now I was convinced it was impossible. Well done 🥰 Can’t wait to see more of your dreamy meadow home

Love this because we are in the same area, and looking to build!!! But in my current house, I did diagonal floors (luxury vinyl) up against the straight hallway that was original hardwood... It looks really good... or I think. The hardwood was from when we built and the luxury vinyl is what I needed to replace a room that needs waterproof thanks to my dog, and it matched okay but I did, diagonal, horizontal and vertical all near each other but since the horizontal was the hallway... then the diagonal was the "library" and the vertical was the dining room across the way it worked. I love the diagonal I think I want that in my "forever" home too but I will definitely go all hardwood... not the biggest fan of luxury vinyl after living with it... I understand it's purpose just a bigger fan of the real hardwood. Love your designs!!!

Why don’t you put the cooking station (oven) in the fire place?
This was my initial thought way back when but I really love having an island directly in front of my range (I like to be able to turn from chopping at the island and drop things right in a pan) and we couldn’t get one there. 🤍🤍
