I believe that Yuki could damage soul too since she gave some soul research she had to Yuji, indicating that she at least has some knowledge on the souls.
Her research was pretty extensive since she established that souls even if they are mixed won't become one. Not saying that she could damage Mahito like Yuji or Sukuna but her knowledge shows that she might be able to pull it off.
I dont think she can percieve the soul but her technique automatically attacks the soul. also in shibuya when she attacked mahito she just felt her cursed energy going off somewhere else and didnt mention anyhing about sensing mahitos soul. she just guessed mahito was a clone from the information not due to her feeling his soul.
I think that Yuji was able to hurt the soul because of A) his extreme talent for sorcery, and B) the fact that he has been exposed to Mahito since early on. He's been so involved with soul shenanigans that his talent focused on that, and this grew further with Yuki's research. So reincarnated sorcerers, with enough training, should be able to do the same. As for Maki and Toji, their ability is different from Yuji's, but not inferior. They can see the soul, yes, but specifically "the soul of inanimate things". This means they can't strike the soul directly, but they can use Split Soul Katana to actively damage it. Yuji can't do any of this. He can't use the Split Soul Katana, and his strikes, that DO target the soul, don't damage it like the special grade cursed tool. Otherwise Sukuna wouldn't be able to heal physically from any of his attacks. So yeah, they can hurt his soul with the weapon and not with their fists (which is also normal, since they have 0CE regardless), but their ability is just different. Ui Ui can, Yaga probably can't. Kenjaku definitely can, both from his Technique and from his astounding expertise with the soul. Remember, 2 Souls in 1 Body is just A way of learning this. Seeing and targeting the soul is a matter of introspection, so anyone can theoretically pull it off. It just requires way more talent and skill than most sorcerers have, and reincarnated sorcerers have an easier time doing that. Two final notes. One, I'll throw my hat in the ring for Yuta and Yuki. Yuki wrote a book of research on the soul, she must be the top expert after Mahito, and her status as SPV allows her to perceive some souls, so she should be able to. Yuta's first act was ensnaring a soul, and cohabited with it for a decade. I think he should be able to perceive the soul, although more on the level of reincarnated sorcerers. Considering his enormous talent, he could be able to learn it, given enough time. Two, other stuff can hurt Mahito. Simple Domain can, as shown by Mechamaru and confirmed by Kenjaku. By this reasoning, full domains and Domain Amplification can too. For the same reasoning, Black Rope and Inverted Spear of Heaven. Angel can annihilate him in an instant. I'm also pretty sure that total annihilation would still kill him. His soul is guarded by his technique, so destroying him in one blow will kill him because his soul would have nowhere to reside in. Also, tiring him out will make his soul vulnerable, because the CT keeping it together will start to have low ouput. It's why Nanami sent Ino, of all people, in the sewers to exorcise Mahito: he knew that in a weakened state Mahito is as vulnerable as normal curses.

Yes, you CAN just wear him down until his CE runs out, as he is actively using his CT to achieve his pseudo invincibility. Nanami explicitly calls this out as an option during their first fight (and I'm fairly certain Mahito himself assumes that this was Mechamaru's plan to kill him, after he gets hit by the first Ultra Cannon; of course Mechamaru had another plan, but its clearly viable if Mahito himself is keeping it in mind), and after the fight at the school Nanami calls Ino when Mahito runs into the sewers to escape, and basically tells him to get to hunting and that even he could kill Mahito solo in the condition he was in (namely, being deprived of CE after not just the fight, but opening up a Domain Expansion for the first time). Its just not a GREAT option, as Mahito has lots of opportunities to kill YOU, while you have to slowly whittle away at him for an extended period of time (or bait him into using his Domain, and betting the farm you can get out of it/avoid getting caught in it, in order to force him to use a large amount of his CE at once). Lol.

I wonder how effective Yuji's "Soul Punches" are on a normal person since the reason they are effective on Sukuna is because he has two souls in his body

Pretty sure the soul targetting is not specifically because Yuji can perceive the soul but because Yuji read Yuki's book. When he fought Choso and 16F Meguna there wasn't any mention of Yuji weakening their outputs. Sukuna didn't even realize it until Yuta's domain
Yuji could hit Mahito’s soul even before she ever heard of anyone called Yuki. Lol. He is able to target the soul because he shares his body with Sukuna. It has been stated in the manga. Clearly .
Related to the 2nd question - AoT is legendary status just bc of how it forced ALL other anime to level up. The story itself is 7.5/10 but damn, its top 10 ever.
I have a personal headcanon that everyone that can output RTC can kill Mahito,no matter if they perceive the soul or not. Doesn’t matter what curse technique a cursed spirit has if you can target and destroy what their body is made out of.
Completely agree. I don’t think Mahito even understood the concept of RCT and Kenny would’ve used it on him or any of the other disaster curses who stepped away from the plan.

i think that another thing to consider is that talent might also be a factor; having two "Active" souls in one body might only help you view the soul, but it might actually be up to the person themselves to capitalize and use this to learn how to injure the soul. the only two people said and shown to have the ability to attack it is literally sukuna, and yuji, who was made to be his vessel, so our data set is kind of limited
I think the key to Domain Expansion is to be aware of your soul, backing this up is when Mahito first used his CT (that directly manipulates the soul) on Yuji and he ended up touching Sukuna's soul in the process bringing Mahito in to Sukuna's innate domain. If the user is aware of their soul, my theory is that this is the key for characters to learn Domain Expansion, because it's literally evident your innate domain (mind space) and soul is tied to each other. With that being said, yeah I think Gojo is golden to hurt Mahito. Him being one of the two to have the most refined Domains, to that extension making him aware of his soul, the evidence above backing this up, he should be able to hurt Mahito and take the dub no diff. Pretty much in our faces Domain expansions is an attack also on the soul Even if Gojo can't see the soul with his six eyes (which I'm pretty sure he does as what we seen in the manga) again Sorcerers capable of using a Domain Expansion more than likely have to be aware of their soul Even if everything above somehow isn't true Gojo can use Unlimited Void which have been seen to effect Mahito So anyone with a Domain Expansion should be able to "hurt" Mahito whether they use the actual domain or not, as said, Domain Expansion users have to be some what aware of their soul, this would mean Hakari, Yuta, Sukuna, Gojo (ofc), and whoever else I'm missing who has a domain And Yuji is able to hurt the soul for obvious reasons, Mai is also able to hurt him because she's able to use the soul split katana (you have to be able to perceive the soul to use the Katana), also Toji able to because ofc he can use the Katana too, Nobara with her resonance, and I think that pretty much covers it. If I didn't name some is because there's alot of characters that can use Domain Expansion, just as I said Domain users have to be able to be aware of their soul to an extent.
the heavenly restriction being tied to zenin to beat mahoraga makes sense tbh. in jujutsu they are classified as what inanimate objects so i doubt they'd be counted as anything other than that in the ritual
I thought the culling game incarnate sorcerers should, but thinking about it, they just swept the souls. My best bet would be someone who has enough awareness of there own soul to the point where they know the presents of another. So maybe Maki, incarnated Toji, of course Yuji and maybe Gojo (just not the ability to harm a soul, but he can "see" megumi's and Sukuna's souls. Feel like if that was his target he could figure it out). Also anyone who survived Mahito's transfiguration based off now they should have an idea of the change in their souls.
Also, i believe any domain user is capable of damaging Mahito due to the nature of sure hit domains, So while some users cant necessarily damage Mahito with ordinary attacks, the sure hit would nullify the Idle Transfiguration of Mahito. I believe Domain Amplification would probably work the same way
I'd like to point out that even though Satoru is just built different, he still was struggling identifying if Suguru was actually him or if it was someone controlling him. Not even the Six Eyes can see the soul exactly. He ultimately figured out it was actually Kenjaku purely off a hunch.
I believe the only way to defeat Mahoraga is to force the wheel to spin the opposite way, or force the principal of adaptation to reverse, forcing a regression, making it weak enough to subjugate. I think Sukuna, and even Gojo, knew they had to make the wheel turn black, Maybe as a form of stagnation during the period it's trying to adapt, ultimately obliterating it one blow. My two cents.
Personally Toji and Maki needing the Katana comes from them not having any CE and since the soul exists on a different plane it makes sense that raw non-powered non-cursed technique imbued attacks are gonna hurt a metaphysical object like the soul. I mean surely for example, Toji could have killed Geto with his bare hands but he fought him with cursed tools because you need to use cursed energy to kill a sorcerer properly. Perhaps the soul is a similar concept. Need some sort of metaphysical power to touch it.
I think youre hyperfixating on the idea of targeting the barrier between the two souls in Meguna. This is important because theyre hoping to save Megumi from Sukuna. Presumably that wouldnt be a factor in a fight against Mahito, you wouldnt need to precisely strike certain areas of the soul, just hitting it at all would damage him.
It's WEIRD but the Limitless seems to be able to hit the soul? Or maybe Gojo's Six Eyes lets him do that and ANY SE user can target the soul with their CT.

I feel like Maki Toji can definitely damage the soul, it is just that Itadori is so used to targeting the soul that he can specifically aim for the barrier between Sukuna and Megumi, whereas if Maki did Soul Damage, it would just be targeted to either Sukuna's soul, which would be less effective, or to both souls which the good guys don't want.
As long as they can imbue their attacks with cursed energy and send it AT the soul, that should do it. Maki and Toji can't send attacks TO the soul because they're just hitting with their bodies
Mahito isn't a threat for characters like Kenjaku,Gojo and Sukuna because he can protect his soul but not his body with unbreakable durability or high speed healing, which mean those characters possess a technique that that will just destroy the body to the point of non return, unless he detached a part of him with his soul in each attacks.
Mahito can completely regenerate as long as his soul is still there I believe? Apparently Nanami’s boulders completely obliterated him but he could still regenerate.
Just because attacks don’t weaken sukuna it doesn’t mean they don’t target the soul,Yuji wanted to weaken sukuna and that’s why he targeted the barrier between them while Gojo and Maki wanted to Kill/defeat sukuna not to weaken him
Gojo can’t see the soul but he would just destroy mahito until he runs out of cursed energy, or get him infinite void and kill him while he can’t think enough to activate his teqnuiqe

I think you’re confusing affecting the soul in general, with an ability that seems specific to yuji where he weakens it. Sorcerers who can perceive the souls can protect their own and affect others. Whereas yuji not just damages the soul, he literally nerfs the output. Something even Sukuna doesn’t do. It’s more likely that anyone who can perceive the souls can affect it, but no one can do it like yuji.
Why does everyone pronounce Ui Ui’s name wrong? In episode 46, and in other episodes, both the English and Japanese voice actresses for Mei Mei pronounce his name very clearly as “wee wee.” Not a big deal at all but I was wondering did no one hear it?

@tjadams98 I doubt they all can like the video discussed. Choso is part Cursed Spirit/Cursed Object, with practice he should be able to. Nobara, Kenjaku, and Yuji has Soul Resonance abilities. Maki has the sword.
@@kingdommccoy no literally, all of them. They are already seasoned sorcerers, some of which the top of their era. Once you are able to perceive the soul you can then protect and attack it. That’s the most simple way to look at it. Hell nanami had none of this and he still subconsciously protected his soul.
Panda should see the soul he would need practice to hit it. Mechamaru can't hit the soul, but his Simple Domain capsules do big damage to Mahito. Higuruma had a Domain that take CTs, so Mahito should die from CT Removal. Takaba can basically do anything 🤣 🤣. Cellphone chick has the edit ability with her phone that works on curses, so it should bypass the need to attack the soul. Ino has a seance (Spiritual)CT in theory he should be hit the soul Inomaki could say "Your Soul is Destroyed" but I'm not positive on that.
@Sakura_is_her From the beginning, we're told that Yuji can damage the soul because he can perceive it. But there are other characters like Gojo who should be able to perceive the soul and yet they are never stated to do soul damage. Hell, even Yuji himself only does soul damage when Gege feels like it. Against Sukuna and Mahito, he does soul damage. Against any other opponent? No soul damage.
@caliqm2199 Yuji doesn't have to do soul damage against other opponents, harming their physical body is more than enough and same thing with Gojo regardless of whether he can perceive or target the soul its mostly irrelevant because he hasn't needed to do soul damage in his fights

Why would he choose to do less damage than he could? Gojo HAS needed to do soul damage. Against Sukuna. If he could do the same soul damage to Sukuna as Yuji, Sukuna would be long dead by now.

They don’t do anything. Against Sukuna Yuji isn’t punching his soul, he’s punching the space between the souls to weaken Sukuna.

If the user is aware of their soul, my theory is that this is the key for characters to learn Domain Expansion, because it's literally evident your innate domain (mind space) and soul is tied to each other.
With that being said, yeah I think Gojo is golden to hurt Mahito. Him being one of the two to have the most refined Domains, to that extension making him aware of his soul, the evidence above backing this up, he should be able to hurt Mahito and take the dub no diff. Pretty much in our faces Domain expansions is an attack also on the soul
Even if Gojo can't see the soul with his six eyes (which I'm pretty sure he does as what we seen in the manga) again Sorcerers capable of using a Domain Expansion more than likely have to be aware of their soul
Even if everything above somehow isn't true Gojo can use Unlimited Void which have been seen to effect Mahito
So anyone with a Domain Expansion should be able to "hurt" Mahito whether they use the actual domain or not, as said, Domain Expansion users have to be some what aware of their soul, this would mean Hakari, Yuta, Sukuna, Gojo (ofc), and whoever else I'm missing who has a domain
And Yuji is able to hurt the soul for obvious reasons, Mai is also able to hurt him because she's able to use the soul split katana (you have to be able to perceive the soul to use the Katana), also Toji able to because ofc he can use the Katana too, Nobara with her resonance, and I think that pretty much covers it.
If I didn't name some is because there's alot of characters that can use Domain Expansion, just as I said Domain users have to be able to be aware of their soul to an extent.
the heavenly restriction being tied to zenin to beat mahoraga makes sense tbh. in jujutsu they are classified as what inanimate objects so i doubt they'd be counted as anything other than that in the ritual
I thought the culling game incarnate sorcerers should, but thinking about it, they just swept the souls. My best bet would be someone who has enough awareness of there own soul to the point where they know the presents of another. So maybe Maki, incarnated Toji, of course Yuji and maybe Gojo (just not the ability to harm a soul, but he can "see" megumi's and Sukuna's souls. Feel like if that was his target he could figure it out). Also anyone who survived Mahito's transfiguration based off now they should have an idea of the change in their souls.
Mechamarus plan to do it was very smart, could Kusakabe replicate it?
Also, i believe any domain user is capable of damaging Mahito due to the nature of sure hit domains, So while some users cant necessarily damage Mahito with ordinary attacks, the sure hit would nullify the Idle Transfiguration of Mahito. I believe Domain Amplification would probably work the same way
I'd like to point out that even though Satoru is just built different, he still was struggling identifying if Suguru was actually him or if it was someone controlling him. Not even the Six Eyes can see the soul exactly. He ultimately figured out it was actually Kenjaku purely off a hunch.

I believe the only way to defeat Mahoraga is to force the wheel to spin the opposite way, or force the principal of adaptation to reverse, forcing a regression, making it weak enough to subjugate. I think Sukuna, and even Gojo, knew they had to make the wheel turn black, Maybe as a form of stagnation during the period it's trying to adapt, ultimately obliterating it one blow. My two cents.
Personally Toji and Maki needing the Katana comes from them not having any CE and since the soul exists on a different plane it makes sense that raw non-powered non-cursed technique imbued attacks are gonna hurt a metaphysical object like the soul. I mean surely for example, Toji could have killed Geto with his bare hands but he fought him with cursed tools because you need to use cursed energy to kill a sorcerer properly. Perhaps the soul is a similar concept. Need some sort of metaphysical power to touch it.

I think youre hyperfixating on the idea of targeting the barrier between the two souls in Meguna. This is important because theyre hoping to save Megumi from Sukuna. Presumably that wouldnt be a factor in a fight against Mahito, you wouldnt need to precisely strike certain areas of the soul, just hitting it at all would damage him.
I bet the seance granny could damage Mahito, due to how her technique can directly interact with the soul; at the very least she has soul perception.

I think lowering Sukuna’s output is different than damaging the soul. It seems Yuji could do so because he read Yuki’s book on the soul.

I feel like Maki Toji can definitely damage the soul, it is just that Itadori is so used to targeting the soul that he can specifically aim for the barrier between Sukuna and Megumi, whereas if Maki did Soul Damage, it would just be targeted to either Sukuna's soul, which would be less effective, or to both souls which the good guys don't want.
As long as they can imbue their attacks with cursed energy and send it AT the soul, that should do it. Maki and Toji can't send attacks TO the soul because they're just hitting with their bodies
If hana could really perceive the soul she should've been able to see sukuna in yuji's body, since they were looking for him and all

Mahito isn't a threat for characters like Kenjaku,Gojo and Sukuna because he can protect his soul but not his body with unbreakable durability or high speed healing, which mean those characters possess a technique that that will just destroy the body to the point of non return, unless he detached a part of him with his soul in each attacks.

Mahito can completely regenerate as long as his soul is still there I believe? Apparently Nanami’s boulders completely obliterated him but he could still regenerate.

I think you’re confusing affecting the soul in general, with an ability that seems specific to yuji where he weakens it.
Sorcerers who can perceive the souls can protect their own and affect others. Whereas yuji not just damages the soul, he literally nerfs the output. Something even Sukuna doesn’t do.
It’s more likely that anyone who can perceive the souls can affect it, but no one can do it like yuji.

@tjadams98 I doubt they all can like the video discussed. Choso is part Cursed Spirit/Cursed Object, with practice he should be able to. Nobara, Kenjaku, and Yuji has Soul Resonance abilities. Maki has the sword.
@@kingdommccoy no literally, all of them. They are already seasoned sorcerers, some of which the top of their era. Once you are able to perceive the soul you can then protect and attack it. That’s the most simple way to look at it.
Hell nanami had none of this and he still subconsciously protected his soul.

@Sakura_is_her From the beginning, we're told that Yuji can damage the soul because he can perceive it. But there are other characters like Gojo who should be able to perceive the soul and yet they are never stated to do soul damage.
Hell, even Yuji himself only does soul damage when Gege feels like it. Against Sukuna and Mahito, he does soul damage. Against any other opponent? No soul damage.
@caliqm2199 Yuji doesn't have to do soul damage against other opponents, harming their physical body is more than enough and same thing with Gojo regardless of whether he can perceive or target the soul its mostly irrelevant because he hasn't needed to do soul damage in his fights
