@@BikerEddd Thanks for the stop it was me that went down, guess that's what happens when you push to hard on Karoo 3's - Still won my class on the day for old farts over 60's, had a little headache for a few minutes!
@@robertjones542 fair play for carrying anywhere near that pace on Karoo 3's! Well done for winning the old farts class as well haha. I'm just glad I didn't crash straight into you! If you watch the video close you can see how crossed up my bars were with both wheels sliding... could have been a lot worse! Glad you're all right.
I'm looking forward to when this catches on, around the World. I see more and more big bore races, these days. It's akin to the motard days of the late 90's. At that time, they were a niche thing. An oddity.
You passed me on my PR7 at 16:07! Good result for you, awesome riding 👍👍 I had never done anything like that before, but had a brilliant weekend, could not ask for better. Looking forward to June, by which time my riding will not have improved at all 😭😭 Thanks for sharing, the scenery up there is brilliant.
Great ride, and well done for stopping to check on the other rider. I have just signed up for June & September as a total beginner 😖, what have i done 🤣.
Tape up your headlight and prepare to be replacing some plastics! In all seriousness it's not as brutal as proper rally / enduro / MX racing. Plenty of space to overtake slower riders safely without being aggressive. Sure you'll love it!
Nice one Ed. We noticed you had some incredible times on Saturday. I was the one stuffed into the bank where you said “not worth it”. In hindsight, I’d have to agree 🤣🤣 Still, at least it wasn’t the last corner 😉
Haha I tried that line on the sighting lap. Got up it but the risk didn't justify the time gained in my mind. Plus you're better off getting some momentum before hitting the hill! Yes haha the difference between a gravel road and a road with gravel on...
@@BikerEddd Conversely, I made it up fine on the sighting lap but buried the front when I was carrying more speed in. One of those occasions where slower was quicker, IYKWIM 😕
@@ACP.49 absolutely... It was a bit strange the way the results are based off of the fastest lap time - doesn't really reward consistent pace which is usually so important in endurance racing!
That slight right before the chicane were you lost it got me on the first flying lap, the marker arrow was shite, i nearly ended in the ditch. Sunday was mega slippy, I was really struggling to find grip, but I guess that made it a bit more interesting. Well done, clearly flying!!!
Awesome work Ed, you were absolutely flying ! I'm not very brave when over taking, need a lot more practice :D You past me on my 950 at about 5.00 in the vid. Well done dude you surely deserve the win !
Thank you mate! All the enduro racing helps you know when you can / can't safely make a pass. Tried to give people as much space as possible though as it's only a bit of fun.
@@flaris55 haha I'm glad you like it dude! I'm not sure it's good enough to deserve a beer but I certainly wouldn't turn it down 😂 make sure to come say hi at the next one 👌 I'm the guy with the beat up KTM... 😬
cool vid showing your skill and technique needed to wrestle that heavy monster on slippery gravel etc, really enjoyed it, just wonder where that is held, looks bleak, so am guessing the moors, Yorks or Dart/Exmoor? :edit- just scrolled down, in Wales, nice one
Mental pace there! I really should have been there on the 990 but maybe I'll get to one of the other rounds...... What's the spec on the 1190, IE any mods? What tyres were you using? Looked like you had grip where there wasnt any!! Be interested to know how you like the 1190 and why you chose it in favour of the 1090 or 790 etc. Cheers!
Standard suspension (that really needs an over haul!). Custom wheels with enduro width rims. Moto Z tractionator (enduro front ST dessert HT rear). To be honest it came down to price. The right bike came up for sale from a mate of mine for the right price. I also do a lot of road miles (it's my daily commuter) so I put road wheels back on and it's a fantastic road machine. To be clear the 890 is the best performing multi cylinder adventure bike I have ever ridden off-road.
@@BikerEddd thanks for the reply, very interesting! You show how competent these bikes are and how magazines and reviewers really over exaggerate the difference in abilities between bikes and how the mortal man can benefit from them etc. Yes the 890 is going to be inherently better but that doesnt mean the 1190 isn't any other than an incredible performing bike itself. If anything, if you want just one bike that you can go laning on, race on, commute on, scratch on the roads on and go touring in Europe on, the extra punch of the 1190 might actually make it a better one bike option than the 890... . Just seen that that lap you filmed was 4 minutes slower than your fastest.......you are a nutter!
Not as much as you might think. In this video really the only significant difference from stock is thinner rims with thinner tyres mounted (MotoZ Enduro ST Front / Dessert HT Rear). Suspension is left stock (I only tip the scales at about 75kg) and 150hp is more than enough from the engine!
Thank you mate! I'm running Moto Z enduro ST front and dessert HT rear. But also on custom wheels that are much thinner than stock. Especially with the summer event you'll probably find the Karoo 3's do just fine (I've used them a lot before and they aren't bad!) Depends how much you want to 'push on' really as adv tyres really lack on corner grip due to the rounded profile.
Awesome to hear! I wouldn't worry too much about the 98db limit... They may tighten up this weekend but last time they weren't testing. Just stick the baffles back in? 7 hours of racing over the weekend I keep my baffles in 😂
That looks like so much fun! Super well ridden mate, that close call with the dude that fell right in front of you raised my heartrate lol. Were you not allowed to use the horn? With that much traffic I'd have wanted to use it for sure, instead of trying to yell "left side right side" at people. Bad luck wiping out on the hard pack right at the end as well.
Was a great time! Yeah he very nearly got squashed 😬 you can use your horn but just force of habit I guess from enduro racing 😂 yeah that sucked but I'll be honest the KTM takes a much tougher beating then my old Tiger did!
