    Picked this over the Sonnet. Just couldn’t pass up the value you get. Mode wins on aesthetics (against most boards honestly), but sound wise (at least according to the Tubes) they’re pretty evenly matched. Plus I have a Mode already and wanted to see what QK was all about. Thinking of experimenting with light tactiles on this one. Hyperglide browns, cotton candys, chiffons maybe. Should be fun. Great content as always.

    is the the mic setup (the mic, the surroundings and gain) the same across all typing tests?
    The board seems to sound louder with all dampening applied, which is counterintuitive.

    • @xeroze01
      @xeroze01 2 роки тому +1

      If you are referring to the PE sheet "dampening". It is kind of a misnomer since it only really dampens the higher frequencies, while reflecting lower frequency with a signature mid level frequency (hence the "marbley" sound.)
      With some frequencies being reflected directly off the PE foam towards the user/mike instead of into the back of the keyboard, the PE foam does sometime make the board louder.

      Mic placement, gain and environment all exactly the same. I do all the tests at the same time just for this reason. On the QK boards, adding all the foam amps it up quite a bit. Same for the OwLabs boards. It's the PE, plus the covering of the flex cuts. 🙏

      eh not really. Those two are perpetually in stock, and after you factor in shipping the barebones QK75 is about $60-70 more expensive than a Q1. I'm not comparing to the GMMK Pro because frankly nobody should buy it if the Q1 is an option.

    • @japplefilms3514
      @japplefilms3514 2 роки тому

      @@user-kz9rz8ui1c I disagree, I said that for other reasons. I've heard a LOT of stories where people bought a GMMK Pro and the screws were so tight that they stripped when trying to take them out. From the beginning they've said that the gasket mount is incredibly stiff and everything is so muted that all switches sound the same in it. There's been issues with the plates. The customer support is notoriously awful on top of the issues.

    • @user-kz9rz8ui1c
      @user-kz9rz8ui1c 2 роки тому +2

      @@japplefilms3514 that's why it's outdated. The gmmk pro used to be a good option since it was the only full Alu board at the price point that was consistently in stock. It had a lot of issues but it was excusable.
      Now, the Q1 beats it in every way in terms of quality, sound, and feel while being available in stock.
