      8:20 Confidence and the British in the context of foreign policy is a joke. in 1939' most trusted the allies, never again. Later, it wasn't America or the British that drove the Germans out. they are Russians, their blood, their sacrifice. it's because of Russian that I don't call my sister "Schwester" and my father "Fater" - how similar is German to English;) you can see who is whose friend who is related to whom. You Atlanteans know how to trade. but this precludes truthfulness, trust and faithfulness to one's word. away from the Atlantic world. Many Poles think so.

    Poland is arming itself not to fight with Russia, but to show that attacking Poland is not worth it. According to the principle of Si vis pacem, para bellum. In addition to the military equipment mentioned in the video, Poland is ordering a lot more weapons. Recently, an order was placed for 1,000 Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles, which will be produced in Poland. Additionally, the US Congress has approved the sale of 500 HIMARS with missiles, including ATACMS missiles with a range of 300km. If all of this military equipment reaches Poland, I think Poland will be safe. And that's what it's all about - avoiding war. There is another aspect to this matter - a more political one. There are many smaller, weaker countries that are also threatened. And here they have to rely on the help of other, stronger countries. Poland, having a strong army, will be able to guarantee military protection to other countries. This could make Poland a leader in this part of Europe. As a result, Poland will be stronger in the international arena, including within the European Union. Great video btw.

      The himars cant be supplied in a realistic time frame thats why they went with korean ones , just havent found out yet how many it gives a figure in the media but that doesnt say whether its 200+ launchers or 200+ launchers and support vehicles so roughly 100 launchers and 100 ammo/ reload vehicles but i think they still ordered or plan to order himars as well just not as many

    • @dozenpack
      @dozenpack Рік тому +7

      @@michaelheather8469
      The US Congress did actually approve the sale of 20 HIMARS systems and around 500 launcher units, because Poland wants to mount them on its own Jelcz-type trucks. Even if Poland does not order all 500 units, but only 200-300, together with 218 Korean systems, which have twice as many launchers as HIMARS, it will be a great firepower.

    • @kamil411x
      @kamil411x Рік тому +3

      500 HIMARS -> political game for the public. The Polish government is out of money now so I don't know why they are talking about such amounts of weaponry. Second, the public mood is very disappointed with the current government. Too much corruption and it's even public corruption.
      EU doesn't want to give money to Poland because of the laws there.
      The coal power plants starting to become too much expensive because of the taxes that the EU applies for such not economic paths.
      The government told they will build 2 or 3 nuclear power plants. Who will pay for it? Poland is not that rich.
      Everything is just the public game that will allow the transfer of money from the Poland budget to their private accounts ;)
      The mood in Poland's military is also not so great because of the political internal actions.
      You are just evaluating the political "promises" and fairy tales.

    About Poland choosing the West. It's not like we had that idea few decades ago and now we are trying to realize it. It's more like we trying to live good with West for like thousand years. In 966 we adopted Christianity, we adopted latin alphabet, we mention Napoleon in our national anthem and we were allied to British and French during WW2 etc. We always trying to have good relation with western countries, learn from them, adopt some of their ideas just to make Poland better place to live, but Russia is trying to stop us every time. They want to make Poland their sphere of influence. They don't have high standards of living, they don't have money, they don't have edge cutting technologies, so none sane Pole would choose Russia over the West. Russian are basically out of options and they can only apply pressure and when it isn't enough they will use force to enforce their vision of Europe. This exactly what is happening to Ukraine right now and that's why we support Ukrainians, because they are experiencing the same thing that was happening to us for like hundreds of years.

    I lived in the UK for the last 20 years and my look at what was going on in Poland was blurred. Even before I left I always criticized Poland's military spending and always said it was way too high and it's not needed in our modern times. But now I realize how wrong I was, Since the day one Putin sat in Kremlin chair I knew he would cause trouble but I didn't think it would be to this extent. Now I cheer for Poland's military modernization, I agree with what they say - 'we need to be strong enough so that no one will even consider attacking us'. I agree with what you said, it is Europe's frontline and I think it is a shame they don't get any support in what they're doing and countries like Germany are just putting more bumps under their feet. I'm here in the UK so the danger is much smaller here, but at the end of the day wouldn't it be better to stop the threat a thousand miles away rather than having them close enough to be able to shoot directly at us? On the other hand, just like with Ukraine, if any country from Baltic States, through Czech Rep., Slovakia, and even Hungary or Romania got attacked, where would they turn their heads to first? Since the WW2 Poland was always the biggest Hub of heavy armoured infantry and tanks and now it shows why it made sense. In numbers Poland gave Ukraine more tanks and heavy armoured vehicles than the rest of NATO combined. They may not have been top nudge technology but they were there, available immediately and often better than the Russian ones. All they do now is the upgrade so that if something breaks out again they'll have the best equipment to counter the threat.

      Ever heard of the word 'deterrent'? No? Let me ask you this. You woke up with a sudden urge to manslaughter. You pick your trusty, sharpened axe and go out of your house. There are two groups of 20 people, each of them alone is enough to satisfy you.
      But look, one of them has nothing but their fist. They decided that buying luxury phones and clothes will give them better lives. Meh...easy pray, not satisfying. So you look at the other side.
      You see them in barely-decent clothes and little luxuries to their name...but instead each has a long-range automatic riffle. Eh...there's satisfaction to be had in tearing the luxurious clothes and pricy phones, right? Yeah, you go and pick that side. After all you suddenly remembered that you have allergy to guns, so you don't wanna get closer to the second group.
      This somewhat exaggerated little story shows what is a deterrent. Something that WORKS by preventing you from acting in a way that the user of said deterrent does not want you to act in. Nuclear weapons are also a deterrent weapon. And guess what! Russia is virtually untouchable EXACTLY because they invested heavily in nuclear weapons! Weapons that they planned to never use! But because they have it and CAN use it, other countries don't want to oppose them.
      Saying that weapons, military or police force are being overspent on and that they aren't used is SIMPLY GODDAMN WRONG. They are used by existing because those that WOULD attack if they weren't there...don't do it. That is the most valuable use of money out there. Until you can obtain that peace after all, there is no economic growth, social growth or any other advancement. Peace is the most crucial element in growing.

    Let me explain an interesting point.
    Ukraine signed the document in 1994 with the USA, Great Britain and Russia. The document contained important facts that Ukraine receives a security guarantee from these countries in exchange for the liquidation of its nuclear arsenal. This also applies to the lack of interference in Ukraine's internal policy. Ukraine in 1994 was the third largest nuclear power in the world. In the event of a military threat, the US, Great Britain and Russia declare to help Ukraine win.
    Russia broke the agreements. Russia has undermined the essence of international agreements. Russia is an aggressor that needs to be stopped as soon as possible. Hence the fear of Poland. Contracts don't work. You should be prepared yourself for a possible attack of the aggressor. No one is sure today whether Russia will not undermine agreements with NATO or the EU. And no one is sure that Poland will not be betrayed again.
    If Russia decides to attack Poland and NATO actually helps, no one will return anyone's life, and the damage done in Poland could again be colossal and definitely slow down the development of the country. This must be avoided.

    • @niktniewiem4785
      @niktniewiem4785 Рік тому

      You don't take into account that the western world broke the terms of the agreement first, as Russia demanded that NATO will not move it's influence closer to Russia, but they did by building military bases closer and closer to Russia with missiles able to reach far into Russia teritory. This was what Putin warned from. They've trapped a dog in a corner and now the dog bites.

    Composition of this new army clearly suggests that Poland is preparing to fight war not on its territory. Previous assumptions were that Polish military defends country by alloiwng russians in and boxing them in couple of areas. However the brutality of russian soldiers, war crimes, systematic targeting of civillians etc. that repeats exaclty the same patterns as in last few hundred years made Poland change its mind. To fight on your own territory means untold atrocities commited by russians-both as policy and as consequence of their culture. Thus the only option is to prepare for war outside of Poland and for that you need much more powerful forces preared not for defense but for attack. Hence the massive build up. Additonally entire scheme of Putins attack was pointing out to what Poles feared the most and that is NATO guarantees are non-existent, no european country thinks strategically and they regard Russia as ally. In event of attack NATO would collapse and thats precisely that almost happend within first 24hours of russian attack, and why it is USA-UK-Poland axis that leads war effort, and everyone is there because they are forced by this trio. As consequence the only ally that Poland have is US, but US due to its commitement and different problems will not be able and willing to fight Russia alone and will not help if Poland cannot help itself. US needs 3 months at minimum to mvoe substantila forces to Europe. So the idea is to be able to fight Russia alone for long enough so that Americans will feel that they can and should help becuase it is doable and in line with their security concerns. This is what Ukrainians have done by preparing defense the way they did. They learned about this from Poles that in last 5 years had internal expert discussion about this very problem. They used this in practice and demonstrated that if you show to US that you can fight, they will help because no one is supporting a loosing side. In event of no support Poland wishes to have forces strong enough so that it alone will deter attack. If war comes, forces will be strong enough to punch so hard that peace agreement will save if not soverignty than at least substantial autonomy for the state. For all of that you need very big, very strong, very modern and very agressive military force capable of projecting itself well into Baltic States, Belarus and Ukraine. Also the behaviour of France and most importantly Germany clearily indicates their absolute wilingness to accept destruction of polish state and genocide of its people for the sake of pushing out americans out of continent with use of russian hands. they are not regarded as allies, but passive-agressive enemies. Strong army is supposed to force them to change that stance and in silent way to intimidate them especially Berlin and use their strategic ineptidue agaisnt them (they are afraid but happy that somebody elses spends money). I know this is all counter-intuitive and journalists do not talk about this, but journalists barely can tie their shoelaces. Trust me, EU-NATO is a can full of batshit crazy corrupted nutjobs that hate each other and are together only because US forced to during Cold War. All talk about "West" is nonsense in eyes of polish decision-makers. The beginning of video you are reacting to is example of this: when poles hear how much they were of help during WW2 their reactions is "yeah, and you didnt helped us, in fact you used us as meatshield, we got massacrated, then we had 4th biggest army fighting aginst Germany, we sacrficed everything, we created massive uprising, we smuggled V-2 rockets, cracjed enigma code, saved London and millions of jews, and then you done second betreyal during Yalta and accused us of antisemitism and racism (constant factor in your news). You are full of shit". Thats what Poles see and hear, but they rarely will say it out loud. They will smile and make happy face because you recognize them, but thats what they think inside. You want peac:e pe prepared for hell. And that no one will help you and in fact they will put a knife in your side and twist it while smiling and lying that they helped you so much. Thats polish experience with so called "west".

    "Si vis pacem, para bellum" - "if you want peace, get ready to war"*.
    In 1939 we had good soldiers with old-school military. But even with blasters attack from both sides was the point. One enemy used new style of warfare, when Ivans used old-time tactic ("throw evgerything on them").
    So you need to be prepared technologically and strategically, but in Poland case you also need someone to backstab one of those damned backstabing neighbours.

    Article 5 says that attacking one NATO country is like attacking all of them , true.
    The downside is that article 5 doesnt mention any military intervention in that case .
    Basically NATO members once one of other member coutries gets attacked dont have to participate in any battle.
    Article 5 is so loosely formulated that you as a member country can send letters to Putin to asking him to stop attack on other member country and you already fulfilled criteria for enacting Article 5 .
    As a Pole I'm pretty sure that once Russia attacks Poland we will be on our own again.
    France will do same as they do now wanting to „negotiate„ , Germqny wont bat and eye due to being dependent on russian gas ,UK will once again print „stop the war„ pamphlets .

      exactly Nato is good only on paper , because even now Countries like germany as a example will play politics because they don't want russia get angry because they don't want trade with gas from russia to stop , because russian gas is cheap , and for some peopole cheaper gas is more important than stopping a maniac who rules a country that for 1000 years of its existence has done nothing but introduce "Russian protection" on their neighbors

    The ultimate question is (prepare, gonna be hard!): Is it better to be overpowered when noone attacks you (but your neighbour is unpredictable, paranoid, savage idiot), or to be underpowered if they attack?
    And there's another thing: Maybe that overpowerness (is there such word in English at all? lol) can stop the intentions of that paranoid psycho sshole..? The key word: "deterrence".

    1: Poland signs contract with Korea to build Korean tanks and more In Poland. = Korea sends all technology and factory’s intro Poland.
    2: Poland have biggest in Europe Trotyl factory and now that factory grow fast.
    3: Poland have 4 big Cluster ammunition factories
    4: In background Poland is build huge hi tech technology centers and labs, cooperate all strategical factories intro one/3 groups. One of them is WB Electronics and now as a WB group.
    That kick up everything 10-20y ahead in technology/labs/factories and military engineering that will made new hi end engineering class.
    So Poland now have engineering point of start at Abrams and new Korean technology, so everything that now Polish engineers and workers build, learn will be minimum on that level. That what I call “skill upgrade”.

    IMO case of polish militarization is clear. If war will come then we will be able to protect our homes. If war will not come because we will be hard enemy then this is gonna be a win-win. If we will not participate in war with Russia then there is always way to sell equipment like we did with Ukraine and then buy newer and better. I don’t see this militarization as a waiting of money this is the only way to keep Poland in the map of the world.

    8:30 - yeah, it kinda is on the western Europe to build the trust. UK and France's betrayal of all the central and eastern nations means it's them who need to rebuild trust by being pro-active in help. UK is kinda doing it, but France, Germany and Spain have done nothing to even show willingness to be trustworthy. And UK needs to do more actually, cause they are known for their grand gestures and lack of action, so people are actually waiting if UK will make good of any of their major guarantess, like going to war in defense of Ukraine as they promised to secure the borders of Ukraine in 90s in exchange for them giving up their nukes.

    Poland needs to have a big army because we have a border with Russia (Kaliningrad exclave) and Belarus. If Ukraine fell we would have another hundreds of kilometers of enemy border. I think that we should get some money from other countries on maintaining our army, cauz we protect not only ourselves but also rest of the Europe. I think that Finland, Baltics, Poland and Romania should receive annual payments for maintaining their armies cauz lets be honest Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and the list goes on do not face any threat near their lands. We also need to have offensive warfare to be able to counter any russian attacks. Russians are mentally different than Europe. 1 They respect only hard power. If you try making a compromise with them they see it as a sign of weakness and immediately want to abuse you. 2 Russian society can be very poor and delighted only if Russia is winning, conquering. Russians love to suffer for greater good (Russia invades and takes other lands) 3 They are much more asian ordes ethics than european. So you can force other to do anything, be very brutal and do not regard human life. For them its human meat, their famous proverb is "women gonna give birth to new babies" Russia should collapse or become next North Korea
