Feeling so validated by my (low) rating of The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Like such an interesting concept but it's SO boring! Also I'm reading Mistborn this summer and you've given me hope!!
Highly suggest continuing the Thursday Murder Club books. Now that you know the characters, everything else falls into place. The second and fourth ones are definitely my favorites
I loved this! The end of Mistborn also destroyed me. Your mom is so pretty! And I agree -- Stardust the movie is VERY different from the book, but the book is lovely and has some real satisfying plot points that wrap up really well
I barely made it through the first 15 minutes of this video before I immediately wanted to reread Mistborn! Can't wait to see your thoughts on the rest of the series :)
I loooove the 'Stardust' movie, adore the 'Stardust' book and also think 'The Ocean at the End of the Lane' is dull 😂 I think you should take the plunge and try reading 'Stardust'!
That was my reaction when I got to that part in Mistborn 😭 I sobbed like a baby. I’m rereading it for the 3rd time right now. I’m so happy you liked it!
I loved Educated because she talked about how her family was telling her she was the one destroying the family because she was speaking up about her mistreatment, and that perspective helped me so much to deal with things going on in my family (which luckily were nowhere near as horrible as hers). I wanna read Mistborn later this year, I am soooo glad you enjoyed it. Your reactions to the end of Mistborn 1 reminded me of my reactions to the end of She Who Became the Sun/He Who Drowned the world. I think you might like those, too. It's so cool you've read the book with your mom, thanks for sharing her thoughts, too!
I’m so glad to know that I’m not the only one who thought The Ocean at the End of the Lane was boring! It’s one of my friends favorite books, and she was so mad at me that I didn’t like it 🤣
Tara Westover came to my university in 2018 or 2019 and She was so nice and let me take a pic of us even tho I was like the last person in the signing line
I read the 1st and 2nd Thursday Murder Club and agree with what you’ve heard-the 2nd is much better (I listened to the audiobook which I highly recommend!!)
I'm fairly new to the channel, so I can't say with confidence if you will enjoy these, BUT- I absolutely LOVED❤ both Educated and Ocean At The End Of The Lane. They were both 5 stars for me!!
i havent read Thursday murder club but my friend really likes them and i think each one is better than the last. she gave the 4th 5 stars and it made her sOB haha so i think you'll enjoy them if you like the characters 😊 (ps. all your outfits in this video.. so immaculate omg❤)
I also find Neil Gaiman books boring but enjoy the adaptations. If you love the Stardust movie (just like me!), really don't bother with the book. It's not it at all. So glad you enjoyed Mistborn, and we all love Kelsier!
i was so scared you wouldn't like mistborn lol i'm so happy you enjoyed it!! i just reread it and still cried at the ending, even knowing what would happen. the second book has a really interesting "animal" companion relationship. also i read the ocean at the end of the lane like 8 years ago, remember almost none of it except for the fact i didn't like it
I feel EXACTLY the same as you about Neil Gaiman. I love every single adaptation of his I’ve seen but I’ve read 3 of his books and given them all 3 stars and honestly that’s being generous…
I haven't read any of the others but I read Thursday Murder Club a couple of years ago, I remember really enjoying it, think I rated it 4.5 stars. I've been considering starting some of the Brandon Sanderson but I'm kind of scared of the length of most of his books
I felt similarly about The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and about Neil Gaiman in general. His books always sound like something I'll love but the writing style keeps the characters at a distance so I can't get as emotionally invested in them as I would otherwise and I end up bored. Stardust is one of my favorite movies too, and I liked the book just fine but not nearly as much. It's a bit darker and more folkloric feeling than the movie, but again I wasn't as invested in the characters as I should have been.
I felt the same about The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I feel like Educated is mismarketed. It's not so much about her getting an education, but about the abuse and trauma she suffered from her childhood into adulthood. I was not a fan.
Have you watched bridgerton season 3? Penelope looks so much like you. That's a striking resemblance. And I'm enjoying it so far. It's been a while since you did reset vlog.
Stardust is one of my favourite movies too! I read the book after and I didn't like it nearly as much unfortunately. Although I also didn't really like The Final Empire, so hopefully you will have a better experience than me!
I feel like ending of Ocean at the End of the Lane went straight over my head. I didn't understand it at all. It felt like the ending of The Crane Husband: what did i just read and why did it end this way?
In your ‘want to read’ section, you can choose how the list shows up at the top of your screen. It’ll say ‘sorted by:’ then something in green which you can click on and change :)
@RileyMarie_ Thanks for replying. I know because I've watched every video of yours. Just wanted you to read more of her. Love your vlogs. I wait for them. I never feel bored at any point. Thanks again ❤️
I'm gonna predict that you won't like Stardust, unfortunately :( I didn't mostly because there was too much potty humor in it? It totally came out of left field for me. But Stardust really reads like a male main character written by a man. So I really just couldn't connect with it as much as I could the movie. The movie is one of my all time favorites, so I was really disappointed by the book unfortunately
I always say this, Mistborn (or whatever which first book it was) is one of the most boring books I have ever read. Same with Locke Lamore. And how the heck is Osmans book rated so high? It was aswell so boring when I read it:/
“How well did you entertain us with your trauma” was a wild way to put it… BUT SO TRUE 🫣
Feeling so validated by my (low) rating of The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Like such an interesting concept but it's SO boring!
Also I'm reading Mistborn this summer and you've given me hope!!
Me TOO! Okay the validation is strong I. These comments
I mean this in the best possible way, the opening lewk is giving sapphic vampire vibes
That is the best compliment I could get ❤
THE MAMA MARIE CAMEO 😍😍😍😍😍
Loved this video idea! I would love a version of this but with the least popular books on your tbr!☺️
Good idea!!
I read The Ocean at the End of the Lane on vacation like 10 years ago and still remember it so negatively. Not vacation vibes.
Highly suggest continuing the Thursday Murder Club books. Now that you know the characters, everything else falls into place. The second and fourth ones are definitely my favorites
Yes!! Books 2 & 4 are the best!
the first book was so painful that i don't want to read the rest.(i do but im worried) its just.. it gets lost in itself
You’re so right about Neil being a great audio book narrator. I listened to Coraline on audio and lovedddd listening to his voice.
I loved this! The end of Mistborn also destroyed me. Your mom is so pretty! And I agree -- Stardust the movie is VERY different from the book, but the book is lovely and has some real satisfying plot points that wrap up really well
I will say that Startdust is my favorite Gaiman because but even Gaiman has said he prefers the adaptation (which I also love).
Your mum's review was great!
I barely made it through the first 15 minutes of this video before I immediately wanted to reread Mistborn! Can't wait to see your thoughts on the rest of the series :)
I’m so excited to read the rest of the series now!

Giiiiiirll I also had never read Sanderson before I read Tress a month or two ago and am planning to jump into Mistborn (FINALLY) very soon!
Thursday Murder Club does get better! My favorite is the 4th book, I think they get progressively better throughout the series.
the outfits in this video are soooo goodddd🫶🏻
I really enjoyed Tress too and it was my first book by him, I’m also planning to read Mistborn next 😊
I’m so glad to know that I’m not the only one who thought The Ocean at the End of the Lane was boring! It’s one of my friends favorite books, and she was so mad at me that I didn’t like it 🤣
I knew the ending of mistborn was going to get you😢
I wasn’t ready 😭
Fun video! I’m reading Thursday Murder Club rn! Loved hearing you and your mom’s reviews!
Thursday murder club series is just brilliant ❤
omg I have the SAME problem as you for Neil Gaiman - the adaptations of his work? wonderful, but I don't really like reading his books
Tara Westover came to my university in 2018 or 2019 and

This is a fun reading vlog idea 😊
I love watching you love mistborn… it’s so good!
I'm fairly new to the channel, so I can't say with confidence if you will enjoy these, BUT- I absolutely LOVED❤ both Educated and Ocean At The End Of The Lane. They were both 5 stars for me!!
oh i canNOT wait until you get to the next 2 books of Mistborn based on what you liked about book 1!!!
I’ve only read educated and I think it’s a great memoir. Really well written. I read it when it first came out and I would still recommend it.
Loved reading some of Gaiman’s books, Ocean At The End Of The Lane, being the first book that I had initially read.
I'm so happy for a new video from you 💜 I've loved Mistborn and have Thursday Murder Club on my tbr, I can't wait to hear your thoughts on these.
You need to read Warbreaker after you finish Mistborn. I think you're going to love that one!
I've read Educated and Ocean at the End of the Lane and i loved them both!
Great vlog 📚🧋🌈🍄💐
i havent read Thursday murder club but my friend really likes them and i think each one is better than the last. she gave the 4th 5 stars and it made her sOB haha so i think you'll enjoy them if you like the characters 😊 (ps. all your outfits in this video.. so immaculate omg❤)
It also took me about a month to read mistborn! But i also really enjoyed it, I gave it 4.5 stars
I highly recommend the audiobooks for Thursday Murder Club! And they absolutely get better!
The epic fantasy music made me happy.
I also find Neil Gaiman books boring but enjoy the adaptations. If you love the Stardust movie (just like me!), really don't bother with the book. It's not it at all.
So glad you enjoyed Mistborn, and we all love Kelsier!
You made me cry just watching you read the ending of The Final Empire.
I think you will enjoy Emperor's Soul by Sanderson. It is a novella. 😊
i was so scared you wouldn't like mistborn lol i'm so happy you enjoyed it!! i just reread it and still cried at the ending, even knowing what would happen. the second book has a really interesting "animal" companion relationship. also i read the ocean at the end of the lane like 8 years ago, remember almost none of it except for the fact i didn't like it
I’m so happy u liked mistborn💜💜💜. Please keep going and I really think u should try warbreaker
Me watching you read Mistborn like 🫣
I read Educated years ago and really enjoyed it
I've wanted to ask you before, but chickened out. What hankerchief headbands do you wear? They are lovely and I'd like to buy some. Thank you!
Was looking for a comment like this, it's so cute I want one too
I got them on Amazon! These specific ones aren’t available anymore but the brand is called Molans
Awesome, thank you for your reply!
Oh, wow, love this idea! I haven't read any of these myself. I don't read popular books all that often either XD
I feel EXACTLY the same as you about Neil Gaiman. I love every single adaptation of his I’ve seen but I’ve read 3 of his books and given them all 3 stars and honestly that’s being generous…
I NEED your PJ’S they are so damn cuuuuute 🤩🤩🤩
we stan a marty cameo

Yeah I wanted to know more about her education. That’s what I had some questions about
Have you watched bridgerton season 3? Penelope looks so much like you. That's a striking resemblance. And I'm enjoying it so far. It's been a while since you did reset vlog.

May i ask what the shelves are called/where they're from at 18.23? They're so nice 😍
I feel like ending of Ocean at the End of the Lane went straight over my head. I didn't understand it at all. It felt like the ending of The Crane Husband: what did i just read and why did it end this way?
Great vlog x
I find Neil’s books generally fall a bit flat - that being said I did enjoy Stardust - the movie is also superb
My Neil Gaiman loving heart 💔
Stardust is also one of my favourites comfort movies. I also read the book and it was a big disappointment, I sadly don't recommend it.
Stardust is not a terrible book, but it is not as amazing as the movie and I never say that about books vs movies!
How do I find the most popular from my tbr? I assume it has to be done through a PC, since I can't find the option in the app😅
In your ‘want to read’ section, you can choose how the list shows up at the top of your screen. It’ll say ‘sorted by:’ then something in green which you can click on and change :)
@@charlottewells thank you!!
I want you to read Maria V. Snyder's books.
I have! I’ve read the poison study series many times. I love it
