I've been a musician for around 35-36yrs and seldomly have heard someone with such pitch control over strong & exacting notes like this. And lawd have mercy, she's got some set of pipes on her! I met her and Dan Tyminsky back around 2004 when she opened for Willie Nelson on a summer package tour in Greenville SC. She's so polite and soft spoken. You wouldn't immediately think she could belt 'em out like that, because she's so petite, but that all changes when she sings.
Listen up you all, shut up talking about her looks. She looked great back then and she looks even better right now.And what a talented singer with such a great voice.
Right on chiaarabocelli. I saw her in ~1989 in the basement of the Natural History Museum in Wash DC. She was plain jane, painfully shy, could barely speak to the audience. She hid behind her fiddle. She opened her mouth to sing and we all fell in love with her. We were the Lucky Ones. Long way from then to now -- see her video with Robert Plant, Gone, Gone, Gone.
I was born and raised in Georgia and my family lives in Atlanta. Every time I'm driving to ATL from New Orleans to visit them, I listen to this song. It's tradition.
Yeah, well I think they all look great! Especially Jerry Douglas! Total hottie! Alison looks great too. Looking at them here makes me think..."Ahhhh...they were all little babies once weren't they." Barry Bales, I mean look at him! Can we asay uhdorable! Jerry Douglas is still hot even now! And Ron Block hasn't even aged. They're all awesome and what they look like sure aint important when they make the music they make.
I was a fan of Alison back when she was a pleasingly plump redhead...I didn't care about her outer shell...it was her music within in her that I admired. Then when she was transformed in that slick packaging and became more mass-market appealing....that's when everyone else...not just those who liked great music....discovered her.
I heard this song when I was 6 and new right away that I wanted to be a singer! She is my first and best inspiration. I love you Allison and God bless!
Alison has a voice that STICKS in my mind LONG after the song is over!! It overwhelms me. Like no other singer. 1). Alison Krauss 2). Emmylou Harris 3). Norah Jones 4). Bonnie Raitt ...... ALL of these girls have that effect on me. Alison Krauss (please notice) I placed in the number "1" spot.
Her singing has improved over the years. She's such a good fiddler, I wish more of her stuff -- then and now -- would feature her abilities as a fiddler.
My Favorite song by Allison. I love this. It always gives me joy. The problem is I only have a cassette to listen to and no cassette player. lol I will get the cd soon. I love you Allison Krause ! ! ! ! ! !
Alison has always stood on her own talent and looks, she never tryed to look like or sound like Patsy, what one dumb statement below. This woman is so talented omg who cant see that , plus she gets better looking each year.
Don't tell the band Bad Company that I like Allison's version more than their's even though it's their song. Everytime I hear this I get homesick for the place I grew up...Georgia. Geez, I can visualize the red clay and smell those magnolias.
Thank you so much for putting this up! My role model sounds so good here! I love to watch her early performances! God bless you and her always!!! Holly in East Tennessee
OK all you Aussies. Check out a couple of your country men/women. Look up the Greencards started by two Aussies and a Brit. Some of the smokinest bluegrass music ever.
I remember my dad had an album of hers when I was in middle school, and her vocals were soo impressive! Then I found out later she also had videos of entire concerts so I ordered one, and was blown away even more how she maintains such control like that is beyond me
Lucky for us Alison liked rock music and chose to cover this Bad Company song. Alison should have toured with Paul Rodgers and not that hag Robert Plant. Paul Rodgers is just about my all time favorite singer and then take someone like Alison Krauss and you've got the makings of one of the best duos that we've never heard.
@flashtwobeards well i am just sayin- that adam was out and jerry was in. both were great-- it i had to decide--i would pick----and the winner goes to ---------ADAM STEFFEY. but he went on to record with the dixie chicks-that is a pretty good resume-
True, but she is near perfect in voice and face and body now! Money and public exposure, advisors, etc., etc., etc. can help a person become more refined and more appealing in every way!
@Rcksaltnnails I think she's pretty damn hot now ! Jusy show's how she has blossomed with age like a fine wine . Glad she lost the perm though..... Oh! and her voice is amazin' as well ; )
Went commercial? She has been singing and touring since she was 14 .just because people buy her records in large quantities doesn't mean she is "sold out,".she and the band union station has always considered the music and the song to be the reason for what they do .monetary considerations for not dictate what they do or don't do.nothing wrong with getting paid for what you love doing as far as I am concerned
Oh come on, she's got so much going for her, to recommend her, do you (or did you) really care about how she makes herself up?---such a minor matter. I don't think you do, actually. You admire her, surely, and so do I.
No----if you had even bothered to read what I've written, you would have known that wasn't it. Please go back and read it again. By the way, it's "SHE and Patrick Bergeson...."
That mandolin player would be replaced by Dan Tyminski. I have some of the old Akus live shows and the studio albums and I liked the original mandolin player as well.
@ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 I see your point to an extent but I know that I a not avoiding reality. I came to this sight to listen to music for it to take me away for a moment from reality. Is that so wrong to forget for the moment, to get lost in the music the sound of her voice, and to read like minds who enjoy her music, not to read about people arguing, or "debating" about polotics? I live with the reality of things every day, I am analytical and like a good debate, but not about our differences.

@ctune1 Wow isn't it funny how you can own an album listen to it until you wear the grooves out and still remember wrong . And I sounded so convincing I probably made somebody else get it wrong as well . I sure had me fooled .
Of course I admire her, always have. It's just that after she bleeched her hair, lost her baby fat, and became something of a sex symbol, everybody found out about our "secret"!
I say more power to her and her band if they aren't strictly bluegrass. That is a terribly constricted style of music. Bluegrass players only play in the key of G. There is a limited number of licks they can do, so they have to prove their musicality by pure speed of picking. And singing through the nose! It's "lowest common denominator music" - music of a limited cultural outlook and limited music styles, like gypsy jazz or gangsta rap. Look up "gangstagrass." It proves my point.

There is not a voice on this earth that can match this young lady!!!
Sara Jarosz
Put her and Morgan Stapleton together.
Listen up you all, shut up talking about her looks. She looked great back then and she looks even better right now.And what a talented singer with such a great voice.
Right on chiaarabocelli.

She is one lady that has aged so gracefully. She looks better older than she did when she was younger.
I was born and raised in Georgia and my family lives in Atlanta. Every time I'm driving to ATL from New Orleans to visit them, I listen to this song. It's tradition.
OMG, they're just babies. Jerry looks bout 15 here.
That has got to be one of the all time finest dobro solos. No wonder they all clapped, I'm glad they were listening.
GUYS. RIGHT IN THE CHILDHOOD. RIGHT. IN. THE. CHILDHOOD. Like, when I was four years old.
Alison Krauss's voice is timeless. Always will be.
her voice is otherworldly, Never have I heard better vocals.
Sara Jarosz
Been in love with her for years and really like the natural hair color but she always beautiful and so sweet and friendly.
Yeah, well I think they all look great! Especially Jerry Douglas! Total hottie! Alison looks great too. Looking at them here makes me think..."Ahhhh...they were all little babies once weren't they." I can hardly stop from singing to say how much i love her....:)
oh suck it up aussie
shes one of the best

What a kick to Adam Steffey playing with Alison. What a talented bunch of musicians.
Adam was one of the first in her band, years ago
GOD, how SHE'S changed!!!!!
I'm so deeply in love with Alison Krauss. This performance is just superb.
I heard this song when I was 6 and new right away that I wanted to be a singer! She is my first and best inspiration. I love you Allison and God bless!
Alison Krauss singing and Jerry Douglas on the Resonator? It doesn't get any better...
Alison has a voice that STICKS in my mind LONG after the song is over!! It overwhelms me. Like no other singer. 1). Alison Krauss 2). Emmylou Harris 3). Norah Jones 4). Bonnie Raitt ...... ALL of these girls have that effect on me. Alison Krauss (please notice) I placed in the number "1" spot.
My dad was listening to AK for over 10 years..he loves this song....can't you feel the energy about Atlanta...peach tree.....
She sings so damn perfect and smooth
This song gives me the chills. I can't believe how effortless it seems.
Howdy! I tell you what, I can listen to Alison sing over and over and over again. All the best - Judd Jugmonger
thank God for this woman! She goes on to do many great things!
One of the most beautiful song birds of my lifetime.
Boy this girl can sing! Then and now!
Oh Atlanta, how much I love you....this song, too!
This is the best version of AK
I just listened to the original version by Bad Company. Both versions are equally awesome
I saw her sing this live as the opening act for Dwight Yokum in 1994
Glad to see her with Jerry Dougas here. Isn't it ironic how everyone looks more atractive now even though they're a lot older?
nice steel! love alison! oh hell yah!
Thank you so much for putting this up! My role model sounds so good here! I love to watch her early performances!
God bless you and her always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee
Woah. She looks WAY different here than she did in the 2000s.
OK all you Aussies. Check out a couple of your country men/women. Look up the Greencards started by two Aussies and a Brit. Some of the smokinest bluegrass music ever.
Jerry's always full of zest, always embellishing in meaningful ways.
I remember my dad had an album of hers when I was in middle school, and her vocals were soo impressive! Then I found out later she also had videos of entire concerts so I ordered one, and was blown away even more how she maintains such control like that is beyond me
wow i have never seen her like this man the early years
Great singing and guitar playing,
Lucky for us Alison liked rock music and chose to cover this Bad Company song. Alison should have toured with Paul Rodgers and not that hag Robert Plant. Paul Rodgers is just about my all time favorite singer and then take someone like Alison Krauss and you've got the makings of one of the best duos that we've never heard.
Oh man would that be awesome or what.
You do realize that she loves Paul Rodgers voice?
I have been to Atlanta a couple of times. Even rode the subway. Great city, despite crazy Ted. LOL!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!
ON MY WAY BACK TO GEORGIA MORE LIKE CHUG A CHEW
awsome video! going on my favorites for sure
Love her voice
Back to Gee-or-ageea, Love it!
THATS bluegrass!!!!!!!!!
@nastynippelz Thank you for talking about Alision and not about our differences. This is not the time nor place for arguments.
This was so long ago! Alison looks so different.
i love aussies!
so true.
No Doubt!
angelic
@walterwoods28 on my way back to Georgia
The song is Oh Atlanta. Someone had to tell me too.
@flashtwobeards well i am just sayin- that adam was out and jerry was in. both were great-- it i had to decide--i would pick----and the winner goes to ---------ADAM STEFFEY. but he went on to record with the dixie chicks-that is a pretty good resume-
These people are to mleeping quiet!
@ctune1 This was a song by The Atlanta Rhythm Section .
ROFL!! she does look 1000000x better now
Where did Australia come about? It's Alison Krauss. Just enjoy the music, put all ignorance aside for 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
She was about 3 steps & 3 x chords in front of her band here. & this goes back..way back.
2:07 to 2:55 the best part
She looks younger now then she did back then! Same beautiful voice though!
7/23---Happy Birthday Alison. How I miss those days before she bleached her red hair, and became Bluegrass's answer to Kate Moss.
Wow, how long ago was this? She's really had a style make-over since then. You can hardly recognize her here.
Sheesh, Yeah.
Probably the early 90s.. maybe earlier.
Oh! and her voice is amazin' as well ; )
this must have been 93 or 94 when she was between Tim Stafford and Dan Tyminski on guitar
@mungbean4u
B cups rock. No 'fertilizer' necessary.
I'm on my way back to nearnear?
Ah, before she went "commercial." I love her effortless, sweet voice.
@conmaesta but, its a godforsaken british prison island filled with abbos and criminals. its history.
Oh come on, she's got so much going for her, to recommend her, do you (or did you) really care about how she makes herself up?---such a minor matter.
I don't think you do, actually. You admire her, surely, and so do I.
Great Jerry Douglas slide. Some Dobro huh? Better version on the Louisville concert CD. We're gonna rip 'em up ..
No----if you had even bothered to read what I've written, you would have known that wasn't it. Please go back and read it again. By the way, it's "SHE and Patrick Bergeson...."
so... you guys like old crow medicine show?
Well, at least you would win an Atlanta spelling bee.
@cuneeda1950 SALUTE!!
That mandolin player would be replaced by Dan Tyminski. I have some of the old Akus live shows and the studio albums and I liked the original mandolin player as well.
Adam Steffey?
Dan tyminsky primarily plays the guitar for the band but was a mandolin player before joining Alison krauss and union station
@dannolives maybe a burka would make them happy?
@ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 I see your point to an extent but I know that I a not avoiding reality. I came to this sight to listen to music for it to take me away for a moment from reality. i guess "wanker" doesnt count as name calling, i didnt realize there were hillbillies in britain too
@chiarabocelli She was trying to look like Patsy Cline.
@hicsumfabulalepus
Sounds like stretched out "Georgia," written more or less like "Georrr-huh-gia."
Check how she sings "worry" as "wor-ha-ha-ry." :)
@ctune1 Wow isn't it funny how you can own an album listen to it until you wear the grooves out and still remember wrong . And I sounded so convincing I probably made somebody else get it wrong as well . I sure had me fooled .
I broke a S a d e cassette by just wearing it out til it snapped Alison krausse could do that to me too
o.O She looks like Tim Curry from Rocky Horror... wow... just wow.
She says Georgia like geeooooorrrheeegiiaaaaa she emphasizes an H sounds not G
You ought to hear Norah Jones if you want a one or two sylable word turned into a documentary,it's a true southern thing
Of course I admire her, always have. It's just that after she bleeched her hair, lost her baby fat, and became something of a sex symbol, everybody found out about our "secret"!
@goldworldnet how do you figure that has to be the dumbest comments i have ever read in my life !!!

grammys dont mean anything, hell beyonce got 9 one year
And she can't even really sing(beyonce' I mean
@RockChiki but youre all criminals?
