I have always thought that what was meant, was lead us 'not into' ie: away from temptation. Instead of 'lead us not' into temptation, I tjink of it as 'lead us' not into temptation, where we would go on our own..
Don't be scandalous. I'm no popesplainer but I googled it and he approved of a translation that says "do not let us fall into temptation," which is exactly what Fr is talking about in this video AND is closer to the Hebrew translation that Fr also mentions.
I enjoy SSPX knowledge, faith, and these little lessons I get to listen to. Thank You!
"sed libera nos a malo" - deliver us from the world, the flesh and devil. Thank you SSPX Father.
THANK YOU GOOD, STRONG & FAITHFUL SHEPHERD FOR HELPING GUIDE US TO UNDERSTAND OUR LOVING GOD. 🙏🙏🙏
This was such an awesome sermon. Thank you!
How can this be? Jesus gave us this prayer 🙏
Thank you! Your explanation was very helpful since I have been asking myself the same question like the woman you mentioned and was very confused.
Blessings and appreciation from Sydney Australia.
I have heard it translated as “let us not fall when we are tempted”
Does God himself lead us into temptation that is impossible? Because he is all good. He would not cause us to be tempted. He is not the evil.

In SEA a lot of people say do not put us to the test instead of lead us not into temptation. That's the problem with the use of the vernacular

Pope Francis wants to change this very line of the Our Father…
Well, I just checked and the Italian also comes from the Latin. My understanding is that he only changed the Italian.
