- After Ui's surgery, Aty and Ui stayed at home for a long time because they could not go for a walk until her wound healed.
I took only Aty out for a walk, but he was too busy worrying about Ui.
Although they were separated for only one hour, they were like Romeo and Juliet.

Aty: A little boy otter who came to our house at the age of 9 months.
At first he couldn't even swim in the river, but now he loves the river more than anything else and swims in it all year round.
Whenever we go out, he always walks ahead of everyone, so he has come to be called “Captain Aty”.
Ui: A tomboy with comical movements.
Because of her ferocious nature, she had to go from one owner to another.
At first, she was so ferocious that Aty was too frightened to even touch her.
But Ui opened up to us and now she and Aty make out every day.
Aty and Ui have been issued a certificate of registration as an internationally rare wild animal and plant species.
Although Ui may appear calm today, she used to be so ferocious that people could not approach her.
After more than a year of being bitten, she finally came to live with us.
Otters are very intelligent and watch the people around them very carefully.
They will never open their hearts to you if you only have a superficial relationship with them.
They are also very active animals and require several hours of exercise per day.
They need to be walked outside or swam in the river for two to three hours every day.
The amount of exercise they get inside the house will never be enough to satisfy their needs.
Please do your research on otters before you think that “I want to keep one."
You need to think carefully about whether you can face them with your life.

This was one of the most touching displays of caring by animals for their mate I've ever seen! Aty is so concerned about Ui, even a walk by a river (one he thought he wanted) fails to cheer him up. The vibes go different indeed if you think back to a few years ago when Aty was still alone and Ui wasn't there with him yet, compared to now where Aty is already used to living with Ui and you bring Aty and Ui always together whenever you have the adventures for them to explore the rivers for they can swim. So, the separation you did even in 30 minutes will feel lonely and feel missing something.

Aty's face is so sad when he realizes Ui isn't at the river. That is the first time I've ever seen Aty not interested in swimming in the river. Otters must really get attached to their mates.
I've heard that certain otters, like Aty and Ui, are some of the many animals that mate for life. So, it wouldn't surprise me that Aty and Ui are so emotionally attached to each other that being separated makes them morose.

They're very social creatures, they keep together (sleep, eat, and hunt together) or cry and go into remorse if lose a loved one. I've watched several documentaries on river otters.

It's tough having surgery and pets with different physical needs. One of my dogs has IVDD and the other does not. So sometimes one doesn't get to go on the walk. But both hate it--being separated, the one at home is anxious, etc.
