I think they are going to be using a lot from tour. *character + customers *karts/bikes/atv no customization but everyone could use. * I hope we also get the items from tour also like character specific. * also for the boost no one is thinking about it but I thing mkTV going to be more like how the camera is in tour. Cause the camera is following Mario only just different angles. As well as the boost which is y only we see Mario's glow, and y all the characters are bundled up together so closely(u can do that in tour).

Yeah! I've got a whole new set-up since the BCP days. Feels a lot more natural to record now. I'm glad it's noticeable! Plenty to come! And lots of gameplay/streams to.
If the tracks can switch between daytime and nighttime, it would be the perfect opportunity for them to include GBA Sunset Wilds as a retro track, and overcome the controversy it had in the Booster Couse Pass
Yup! And Lakeside Park! Both could do with a 2025 remake. I'm interested to see how it would go with 24 racers though..... Seems like some big modifications will be needed.

I think it’s more likely that there’s a day mode and night mode on the track in the trailer. It could work like Animal Crossing in that sense. That doesn’t rule out the possibility of Sunset Wilds getting a redemption arc, but yeah.

Finally! Its been 11 years since a new mainline home console mario kart! The Switch 2 finally is revealed after so so much rumors and leaks, and so much wating!
Really hope this new entry is the actual “everyone is here” game (more so on the Mario side for the roster). I feel like if this game is going to have 24 racers per track, which is the same amount of characters that were in Wii’s roster, then this new roster should be big enough to include all playable Mario characters that were in past entries.
I hope so to! It would almost need to have a HUGE roster as 24 racers is massive. Whether that's done through more skins/characters IDK. But, having both would be epic.
Back then when Splatoon 3 teased its game I thought the waiting time would never stop. Now this is happening again with Mario Kart 9. the waiting time man... AAAAA
If this track did get a night-time variant where there were frozen patches on the track due to deserts freezing at night time it would be awesome. Time of day variants and dynamic weather are something I've wished for in Mario Kart since forever.
Your observation about the streetlights and lamps is probably the most massive take in this video. Good call-- this has major implications for day/night shifts for the tracks which is one of my MOST wanted things. I also think the physics of the karts are going to be a HUGE change, with them tilting off the ground constantly as we're seeing. I'll save other comments for a potential video chat of my own :)
honestly would be super cool if there was even just some kinda setting similar to how wii sports resort had afternoon, evening, and nighttime options for many of its sports, but for these tracks
Glad you liked them! I was reminiscing on Wednesday about it. I missed it. I remember during it I loved it but I worked hard and at times I did to much and wanted it to stop 😂 This time I can’t wait with my experience now and also better hardware!
@ I mean most people when they cover mechanics introduced in each game everyone forgets drafting, it’s kinda like only the best casuals and all professionals know about it cause there are tracks that can heavily change online if you draft, however what if they removed drafting, there are 24 players and we can see all of them in the trailer very packed together, so that would make drafts more common and kinda ruin the point.

People really need to stop calling this unnamed Mario Kart title as Mario kart 9 since it already existed in Tour, because this installment is the 10TH installment, NOT THE 9TH INSTALLMENT!
I find it funny when i come across someone who says "this game doesn't look like a copy pasted mario kart 8 and isn't hyper realistic therefore this game looks bad." If you wanted mario kart 8 graphics, go play mario kart 8. If your want a hyper realistic racer game, go play forza. Ranting aside, I'm excited to see what this game can offer.
The one thing I'm hoping for from this game is for an option to choose from preset karts and not to scroll through all the parts to find either something I like or something with good stats. I want to be able to just pick up the game and pick a kart and go.
Great analysis as usual, I'm so glad the game shown during the Switch 2 trailer is a new Mario Kart also because it means we're back with these on your channel other than of course in itself - can't wait to see more of it (most certainly on April 2) and watching your future videos about it, too! 3:57 Nintendo Life pointed out that the Mario Motors font is the same as the one from Famicom Grand Prix II, such a cool detail!
I think what makes me slightly sad is we won’t hear Martinet anymore and that this will be the first Kart without him voicing our favourite characters!
I’m really looking forward to seeing more on Mario Kart. I want to learn the odds and ends of everything from the tracks to characters and the gimmicks for this Mario Kart. Especially how retro tracks will be handled, provided they even return. We should assume they will, but given the 24 racers, they’d need radical redesigns to work and you know that old saying about assuming. Also, I do hope we get costumes for the characters like Tour, that was definitely a cool addition. Same with reverse tracks- would be real fun to see brought that concept brought in. Even if I never played Tour, I can fully admit, it had some good ideas that I’m really hoping to see in a home console release. And speaking of Tour, and also Splatoon… I wouldn’t be super surprised if we saw the game get supported over time with free updates. Like, one month you get a few new racers, a couple costumes, and maybe even a new set of tracks. Though I’d also be expecting paid DLC for a bunch of tracks and maybe characters and costumes, a la the Booster Course Pass. But whatever the case… we have 15 seconds, one track, and I already am excited thinking of what more stuff they can add, lol. And just happy to see some old school Nintendo trailer analysis stuff from everyone again. We get 15 seconds and everyone stretches that to 15-30 minutes, lol!
The thin pipes in the Finish Line are on the left and right side as if it were a shortcut, and some containers in a row, where you can surely walk over them, the Grind technique like skaters do when they slide down pipes or I see similar surfaces in Mario Kart, apparently we will have areas of a lot of snow, boats, hopefully some gliders. I think what they showed has to do with some story mode, the game must be the biggest thing Nintendo has ever made.
"everything is stunning"? How can you tell there's basically fog everywhere probably to prevent having to put in background detail. It looks like a game that could run on the original Wii u no problem which is really sad.
I too am interested in the mouse thing. I hope it isn’t required in any games because there arent a lot of tv set ups that works for. My TV is across from my bed. How the hell would that work?
I'm really interested how the tracks work in this game. In that little teaser we saw arrows blocking another road so that shows us the lap change gimmick is here and we see a big loop in the back pointing at antigravity, but then it's kinda just an empty road with no real sign of turning around, so is it actually a completed track or just something whipped up to show them driving? Either way it's gonna be super fun playing this game. 8DX is great and it got double the amount of tracks, but it's been 10 years and it's kinda stale, and since we got backwards compatibility 8DX will most likely work on the Switch2, so I see them only doing new retro tracks since a lot of returning ones in 8DX would be on the console, giving us 2 Mario Kart games with a selection of repeating tracks all on a single device, and it'd add more variety from 8DX and see some big tracks finally return like DS Bowser Castle or Wii Toad's Factory.
@@Swiftjar That could possibly be it, maybe it's gonna be like shooting up to the side of a canyon but the track just isn't fully finished so it's just awkwardly floating there. I also wonder if that big long road we see could eventually be blocked in the middle and a lap change could take you the other way, since it's a long stretch of nothing and the road is pretty wide even for 24 players.
This is what we have been waiting for for so long a new Mariokart. Even tho we only saw a very small snippet loved the overall look and the detail we saw. If thats the first track and a circuit one imagine what all of the other tracks will look like. 24 players is going to be insane and can’t wait to see all the new gimmicks this game will bring. Really hope we can choose different skins with the characters and still customise the karts. I guess we will find out a lot more in the direct in April. Sooo excited to see more😊🥳
I’m in the same boat my friend. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Much before the BCP. My ideal world is a trailer with a Pianta Driver, E Gadd and Bandit! Just whack characters like that. Lots of spectators around the course and more of what we saw!
@ yeah that would be awesome I wouldn’t mind them adding a few characters from other franchises as well eg Kirby, starfox etc. do love the idea of a wonder gimmick changing up the tracks as well would be interesting😊
10:44 I really hope this is actually the case, because that’s the main thing I really liked in Mario Kart Tour! 11:01 I thought the same thing, too. The graphics of this new Mario Kart art style seem a slight bit more cartoony than Mario Kart 8 (I don’t know, Mario Kart 8’s graphics seemed to have more of that realistic look to it for me, which I liked), which May at first feel like a slight step back for me, but still, very polished overall! I suppose a slight step back to a slightly more cartoonish look is necessary sometimes for the graphics to really stand out (sort of like the jump from the New Super Mario Bros series to Mario Wonder), but still, I like it! The better of both. 12:32 It’d be really neat if the kart interactions with respect to the weight stat worked like in older Mario Kart games. This may seem mean, but I used to like how in older Mario Kart games, larger and heavier karts could REALLY bump or send other lighter karts flying off the track, especially Mario Kart DS, the first one I ever played - it was hilarious! 😂

8:47 I want to think that we will have different layouts for the same circuit, not like in the booster course pass city tracks. You will be able to select the layout you want, it is interesting, but I feel that it would make the game very repetitive, but I don't know. Btw, I don't think antigravity is coming back to this game :(
Overall, I'm excited to see the new look of this game. If I had to pick out one thing, though, I really love seeing Princess Peach in a dress on a motorcycle. Not that I anything against the tracksuit, but it is really cool to see in general.
From the looks of it, it's still running on the same engine in-house engine as MK8, Super Mario Maker, ARMS and the Splatoon games. But I could be completely wrong, who knows?
Great breakdown! I love the look of this Desert track, and the attention to detail is amazing! However, I'm not really digging the more cartoony art style of the karts and some of the characters...lookin at you Donkey Kong. But, it seems like I'm in the minority so far of this opinion.
I work in Marketing for my day job as a Brand Manager. Strategically it works. Switch is the BIGGEST home console ever. Having a sequel with a 2 is easy for consumers to understand (think the mums and dads of the world). It draws people in than another random name that has no correlation to a switch.
What if you have health now or energy and if you take enough damage you get knocked out of the match kind of like elimination and that lunch bag gives you energy/health.
I don't think it's good to make wider tracks to accommodate for more racers. I don't like the added tracks in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because they're too wide. There's no point dropping bananas or firing shells backwards on wide tracks as it's too easy for opponents to dodge them. Narrow tracks are always more chaotic which makes them fun.
I'm hoping for the 24-racer gameplay to be an additional mode with dedicated tracks that are intentionally wider. I don't think this track would work at all with just 12 racers (from the looks of it).
😮 The way the camera zooms out to show the mostly straight road go further into the distance, with the racers looking like they're on a road trip, on their way to their next race.... Suggests a Forza Horizon open-world mechanics! 😃🙏🏾 Imagine just like in Forza Horizon, exploring an online shared world (can also be offline) participating in different activities, not just races. Day and Night cycle. Seasons. It'll be Mario Kart heaven! And it'll be a great way to showcase the new online capabilities!
@@SwiftjarThere have been rumors that the next main MK will be open world. I'm hoping it's not just a rumor because Forza Horizon 5 is such a fun racing game. Thinking about it, the trailer is probably showing what you'd call a "cross-country race" mode in FH.
Do we think that they will announce Mario kart customization like they did in Mario kart tour. Cause u see peach Roselina and Daisy has dresses on and not there racing suit
I do think you will have option for different outfits so princeses for example can probably wear either dress or biker outfits depending on what you choose. Mario kartl ive also had different costumes so good chance it will be in the new game.
What if this is just the opening scene and they’re driving somewhere? They all seem to be following Mario without any type of racing? If that makes sense, sort of like Forza Horizon EDIT: Also when bowser drives over the dash panel in the last scene, it looks like he’s about to spin out and corrects it
I kinda think like after seeing the wonder character design and reference they might name it Mario Kart Wonder 😂. I mean it’s just a stupid name that came to my mind just now while watching the video
There are two things that really caught my attention in this trailer: 1. For some reason, the Mario Bros. Ciruit is an american desert by the highway, even though that really isn't a theme that's been associated with those characters before. I've seen some people suggest the environment could shift as you ride through it, maybe that could be the case here with things becoming more lively over time. 2. This track is called "Mario Bros. Circuit", while in previous games Mario and Luigi usually got their own dedicated tracks. That makes me think that either there will be less but longer tracks in general, or there are cups for crossovers and they have less Mario-specific tracks than usual.
Don't judge too soon. We've seen only a small part of one track, with flat lighting, in a highly compressed trailer so far. The game will surely look much better on the actual system.
I have seen both games compared together in a video and there are loads of differences. Much more roundish and way less pixel. So it means your full of ....
@Thundercloud369 I think the lighting looks a little weaker, but it could just be this track in particular. I'm not willing to judge the game's visuals from this short, compressed clip they've shown us.
@Thundercloud369 It probably appears more roundish because the kart and character models (especially the wheels) have a significantly higher polygon count. That's what I think at least.

The roster does not matter in the Mario Kart series as much as the Super Smash Bros. series because all characters play almost identically.

I'm really interested how the tracks work in this game. In that little teaser we saw arrows blocking another road so that shows us the lap change gimmick is here and we see a big loop in the back pointing at antigravity, but then it's kinda just an empty road with no real sign of turning around, so is it actually a completed track or just something whipped up to show them driving?
Either way it's gonna be super fun playing this game. 8DX is great and it got double the amount of tracks, but it's been 10 years and it's kinda stale, and since we got backwards compatibility 8DX will most likely work on the Switch2, so I see them only doing new retro tracks since a lot of returning ones in 8DX would be on the console, giving us 2 Mario Kart games with a selection of repeating tracks all on a single device, and it'd add more variety from 8DX and see some big tracks finally return like DS Bowser Castle or Wii Toad's Factory.
Yeah! I agree. I’m confused with the floating island to. Unless it’s a cannon that shoots you up with a glider that takes you down.
@@Swiftjar That could possibly be it, maybe it's gonna be like shooting up to the side of a canyon but the track just isn't fully finished so it's just awkwardly floating there. I also wonder if that big long road we see could eventually be blocked in the middle and a lap change could take you the other way, since it's a long stretch of nothing and the road is pretty wide even for 24 players.
This is what we have been waiting for for so long a new Mariokart. Even tho we only saw a very small snippet loved the overall look and the detail we saw. If thats the first track and a circuit one imagine what all of the other tracks will look like. 24 players is going to be insane and can’t wait to see all the new gimmicks this game will bring. Really hope we can choose different skins with the characters and still customise the karts. I guess we will find out a lot more in the direct in April. Sooo excited to see more😊🥳

My ideal world is a trailer with a Pianta Driver, E Gadd and Bandit! Just whack characters like that. Lots of spectators around the course and more of what we saw!

The graphics of this new Mario Kart art style seem a slight bit more cartoony than Mario Kart 8 (I don’t know, Mario Kart 8’s graphics seemed to have more of that realistic look to it for me, which I liked), which May at first feel like a slight step back for me, but still, very polished overall!
I suppose a slight step back to a slightly more cartoonish look is necessary sometimes for the graphics to really stand out (sort of like the jump from the New Super Mario Bros series to Mario Wonder), but still, I like it! The better of both.
12:32 It’d be really neat if the kart interactions with respect to the weight stat worked like in older Mario Kart games. This may seem mean, but I used to like how in older Mario Kart games, larger and heavier karts could REALLY bump or send other lighter karts flying off the track, especially Mario Kart DS, the first one I ever played - it was hilarious! 😂

8:47 I want to think that we will have different layouts for the same circuit, not like in the booster course pass city tracks. You will be able to select the layout you want, it is interesting, but I feel that it would make the game very repetitive, but I don't know.

Overall, I'm excited to see the new look of this game. If I had to pick out one thing, though, I really love seeing Princess Peach in a dress on a motorcycle. Not that I anything against the tracksuit, but it is really cool to see in general.

From the looks of it, it's still running on the same engine in-house engine as MK8, Super Mario Maker, ARMS and the Splatoon games. But I could be completely wrong, who knows?

Great breakdown! I love the look of this Desert track, and the attention to detail is amazing! However, I'm not really digging the more cartoony art style of the karts and some of the characters...lookin at you Donkey Kong. But, it seems like I'm in the minority so far of this opinion.

I work in Marketing for my day job as a Brand Manager. Strategically it works. Switch is the BIGGEST home console ever. Having a sequel with a 2 is easy for consumers to understand (think the mums and dads of the world). It draws people in than another random name that has no correlation to a switch.
They surely could've, but it wouldn't be worth the risk.
What if you have health now or energy and if you take enough damage you get knocked out of the match kind of like elimination and that lunch bag gives you energy/health.

I don't think it's good to make wider tracks to accommodate for more racers. I don't like the added tracks in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because they're too wide. There's no point dropping bananas or firing shells backwards on wide tracks as it's too easy for opponents to dodge them. Narrow tracks are always more chaotic which makes them fun.
I'm hoping for the 24-racer gameplay to be an additional mode with dedicated tracks that are intentionally wider. I don't think this track would work at all with just 12 racers (from the looks of it).

I do think you will have option for different outfits so princeses for example can probably wear either dress or biker outfits depending on what you choose. Mario kartl ive also had different costumes so good chance it will be in the new game.

There are two things that really caught my attention in this trailer:
1. For some reason, the Mario Bros. Ciruit is an american desert by the highway, even though that really isn't a theme that's been associated with those characters before. I've seen some people suggest the environment could shift as you ride through it, maybe that could be the case here with things becoming more lively over time.
2. This track is called "Mario Bros. Circuit", while in previous games Mario and Luigi usually got their own dedicated tracks. That makes me think that either there will be less but longer tracks in general, or there are cups for crossovers and they have less Mario-specific tracks than usual.

Don't judge too soon. We've seen only a small part of one track, with flat lighting, in a highly compressed trailer so far. The game will surely look much better on the actual system.

I have seen both games compared together in a video and there are loads of differences. Much more roundish and way less pixel. So it means your full of ....
@Thundercloud369 I think the lighting looks a little weaker, but it could just be this track in particular. I'm not willing to judge the game's visuals from this short, compressed clip they've shown us.
@Thundercloud369 It probably appears more roundish because the kart and character models (especially the wheels) have a significantly higher polygon count. That's what I think at least.
