I bought this keyboard (TKL version) based on this review. I like it a lot. I just didn't expect it to be as heavy as it is :) Was thinking about maybe taking it with me to the office, but it really is a chonker
@@xirion3567 certainly! It is perfectly fine for gaming. I haven’t found a single game that was problematic because it required a numpad. And I don’t play twitch fps shooters or competitive rts so I don’t care about key travel or response delays that I cannot measure anyway, so I can’t comment about that aspect
Thanks for the review. Picked up the Darkness version with Brown switches from Scan the other day and it has a UK layout. Only disappointment is the spare return key isn't uk layout. Love the solid weight of the thing and the volume knob is so useful !
Oh I like the aesthetic of this! The volume knob needs to be aluminum imho. Definitely needs a UK layout unless we could get in and reassign the keys ourselves. Worth them bringing out a more premium model in the future. Nice amount of detail and critique, Mat, I too hope Montech listen. Not had hands on with any of their gear yet, but I'm hella impressed with what I've seen. Job Jobbed - from both of youse. 👌👍 Tah to the family too!
@matmynett7220 That sold it: your description of the tactile and comfortable typing experience. If you ain't got that in a keyboard; you ain't got nothin'.
What's the software named? I didn't quite get it. I searched for " Encore 105 " because that's what captions were detecting but i couldn't find anything.
I can't remember what exactly it's called, but if you go on the Montech site for this keyboard there's a Mega link at the bottom containing a .exe file for said software.
i have a keychron and they look quite like that, although montech have gone further with the key design on spacebar etc. I like the colour scheme a lot. never thought id want to buy a montech keyboard to be perfectly honest.
Just got one (darkness, red switches). I'm a bit weirded out by how muted the space bar, return, and shift keys are. They are near silent, while the rest are borderline clacky. It is super heavy, in a good way. Don't know if it's what I'm looking for. Hard finding many good options with full size keyboards. I prefer my keychron v6. Dunno if I'll return or try it with different switches or maybe give it time to break in.
i like the idea behind! FN Functions are not active without pressing FN right ? Some keyboards are coded like this ... and this would be a NOGO for me. But looks like it is a standard layout. Could be my next Keyboard ❤
It should be said that the UK version released actually follows the standard UK layout, atleast on the TKL version anyway. Recently bought the freedom colour TKL of this keyboard from Scan and I've not had any complaints besides the knob and a slightly rattley spacebar. All in all though I think it's an absolute steal of a keyboard with this price both for office work and gaming.
A comprehensive review but no UK layout means no sale. It's as simple as that. You mentioned the flex of the keyboard. I remember the old Amstrad PC keyboards which were so flimsy you could bend them almost 90 degrees. Let's hope they bring out a UK version and address the quality issues you mentioned.
RGB RGB RGB - Yeah but what about the basic function of actually being able to remap the 2nd and (god forbid) 3rd layers??? Seems like only Keychron gets it.
Having perfect if not excellent colour vision , the keys are a blue/grey , so neither one nor the other , this will be affected by your lighting and also the colour temperature it's viewed in
ANSI US layout is the way to go. I'm german and I always will prefer ANSI US because it's just plain better for [] {} \| and many others. It's thep preferred layout option for programmers, linux hobbyists and many others. 2c
Yawn lack of dedicated macro key rows again to the left of the tab caplock area, extremly overpriced for a 30$ keyboard, cherry mx switches don't cost a ton there dirt cheap now, especially their clones. Not impressive in the least. This is a stock keyboard that has a green color scheme that is super overpriced for what it is. Would love to see some actual evolution in this area again instead of repeats of repeats.
Well butter my biscuit what “30$ keyboard” have you been looking at?! $30 gets you a pile of crap that isn’t even 3% of this keyboard. $30 is going to get a backlight, maybe a rainbow one ( no rgb ) and membrane switches, zero foam etc. Not sure what holy grail you found, freaking share.
No UK layout - hooray! When you don't like the UK-layout it can be very frustrating being forced to order a keyboard from overseas making warranty... complicated. Not to mention incurring massive postage costs, especially now post-Brexit.
I'm honestly loving everything Montech have been doing the past couple of years. That spacebar is proper gorgeous.
thats one of the nicest looking keyboard designs I have seen.
Bought mine today and I effing love it. Really a work of art... don't see these being so cheap for much longer. Great find.
Seriously loving these colour themes on keyboards really puts me back to the amstrad cpc or c64 era.
I love that colour scheme, very retro, looks brilliant
What a great keyboard ! MONTECH really stepping up lately.

Are you still using it? What's it like for Gaming?

@@desertfish74 That's a fair assessment. Thank you for the reply 🙏
Looks like a very modern retro keyboard love it.

great review mat, covered all the bases there. looks like they are targeting a wide audience with cases and keyboards...

Quite like that knob for changing the volume.
Looks pretty nice. Thanks for review
This is the only 75%+, good looking and functional keyboard that comes in a nordic layout. I’m definitely planning on buying this.
Glad you like it!
I love the looks of it, i'd like to try it, when you are typing, does it have any problems like double typing?
None that I've encountered yet.
Would love to test one of these does look satisfying.

Probably the best keyboard review I've seen, well done video. This keyb seems awesome except for the wobly roll button
i have a keychron and they look quite like that, although montech have gone further with the key design on spacebar etc. I like the colour scheme a lot. never thought id want to buy a montech keyboard to be perfectly honest.
this looks sooo good and the sound it make its to die for!! when will it be available in Europe?
It is now ^^
Just ordered the TKL version
What do I do about the missing printscreen key.. remap in windows?

You would think they could have at least offered the £ symbol as a special Function + regular key combo. Why not FN+4 perhaps?
i like the idea behind! FN Functions are not active without pressing FN right ? Some keyboards are coded like this ... and this would be a NOGO for me. But looks like it is a standard layout. Could be my next Keyboard ❤
what a great looking keyboard, love it

Nice video thx! Is this keyboard difficult to disassemble? I didn't find any screws. I'm assuming the front panel is latched on.
Looks good. Was interested. No UK layout, no sale
I think keychron wants their design back lol - very nice. are they selling in UK ? can never find anything they make anywhere.
How do i get the software
I would say that the darker keys were a Steel Blue Grey, at least how I see them on my monitor.
What on earth have they done with the escape key?
I'm gonna get one of these soon. Should I get it with Yellow or Brown stiches?
Why do I keep reading the MKey as Mickey?

Was sounding promising other than the half size return key until the news that no UK layout but thats a show stopper for me.
Does anyone know if this keyboard + their software is compatible with MacOS?
How do you dissemble the board???
The dark key caps are a dark blue/grey.
Wait, the UK requires a special keyboard layout? Whats the difference
nice vid! but why montech call it bossmode it is just win+d
I really want to buy this for my husband but would like to install some mods to my liking. Is it easy to oben the keyboard?
Mat took it apart easy enough in the video if you watch it
does it work for macbooks
why there is no version of this keyboard with 2.4 Ghz connectivity :-(((( I would buy it right away, I like it very much
I don’t think I’ve ever managed to wear out a keyboard. All mine have died from having drinks spilled on them.
hopefully they stick with it - thats some first keyboard release.
I don't know who needs to read this, but there are many people outside of the UK who also prefer the UK / ISO layout over the ANSI layout.
No UK layout thats a problem for me, its a shame because i really like the look of it.
RGB RGB RGB - Yeah but what about the basic function of actually being able to remap the 2nd and (god forbid) 3rd layers??? Seems like only Keychron gets it.
A trebuchet keyboard sounds like a really good idea.
Shame on KG for not sending Mat to Osaka to check out a castle to compare it to a keyboard.
Having perfect if not excellent colour vision , the keys are a blue/grey , so neither one nor the other , this will be affected by your lighting and also the colour temperature it's viewed in
have to say, their cases havent appealed to me, but that colour scheme is superb - its almost a keychron clone however !
Yo i just copped it and its fire
this is much better than their cases, brilliant looking board, very asian - cool design. the box isnt selling it however!
Yea for real, they claim a castle theme, then the box goes futuristic instead lol
I disagree about the cases. The Sky Two is awesome and also pretty budget friendly
Playing BattleBit !!! Good man
*added to wishlist
I love this keyboard
They're like a dark navy blue

3 ads as an intro ? that's some deep TV crap lmao
It’s 15 seconds and there are time stamps to skip them. I’ve seen tech videos with 90 seconds NordVPN ads.
No UK layout, then sorry not good to me. I will stick to my Cherry for now.

ISO sucks, everyone should use ANSI.

more vaporware from montech you will never be able to buy anywhere.
Can never find much of theirs online either.
They seem to sell well into germany

Underwhelming tbh
Wjthout a UK layout this will be a pointless product for a UK release 🫤🤦♂️
