Hi John my name is Ken Richardson my story intersected with your story. About June 2006 I had a serious personal issue and tried to take my life, thankfully I survived and ended up
At Stanford psychiatric ward being a member of your church I asked that you come talk with me. We talked for a while and I felt so much better. I got the help I needed and have moved on from California to Florida as a successful Massage Therapist. This is amazing that I clicked on this video today. God is powerfull.
Ken Richardson
Ken thank you for sharing your tender story - we are in awe and wonder and grateful how God intersects stories together! Bucky
Thank you for this. So freeing to hear someone else actually say to the Lord, “it’s [your presence] not enough”. I feel that often because I do know God can fix anyone, even me, and anything/any circumstance. I have no doubt about His power, I just don’t know what He will do, at least not in specific circumstances of my life. What I constantly remind myself of is God’s unfailing love, unfathomable goodness and enduring presence. I hear Him say to me daily, “you can trust me”. “Oh for grace to trust Him more”.
You aren't alone, Rita, many of us feel the same. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! - Rob
I had some similarities with your story of the fighting. I once made a peanut butter sandwich and ran away from home with my pink patent leather doll case one day. When my dad called for me I went home. I was two houses away under a tree. Seemed it was miles. Thanks for the vulnerability you both have in your sharing your story.
Thank you for sharing a part of your story with us - we appreciate you! Bucky
I feel like I have been across the universe. And now, back to the one who loves me best.
Yes, exactly! Thanks for sharing, Jennie! - Rob
Forget the dogs and keep sharing! 😂 We need to hear more from the two of you and your stories! Thanks for being so transparent!
Thank you so much we are so glad you are encouraged by our Story journey together Bucky
Our narrow story is what leads us to our wide story. Scratching and sniffing upon that thought. Reminds me of John’s episode on how the narrow gate is the wide gate. Giving me a mental picture of an accordion and how air/wind/HolySpirit produces beautiful music 🎶. Someone much more attuned than I might expand upon this for considerable benefit to all of us.
Thank you for sharing with us today, Susan, we're so glad you are following us! - Rob
Love having Nancy join today’s segment. Need to deal with not getting the story we want by bringing it to the Lord. Isolation not helpful. God’s presence is great but we long for power.
So true - thank you for staring and being part of our Become New Story Be Blessed Bucky
I always enjoy when John and Nancy are with us, chatting together. Beautiful people🥰
We do too! Thank you for sharing, Linda, we appreciate it! - Rob
Love your work Dr.Ortberg. You have encouraged me for years with your books, aided my preaching (I’ve stolen lots!!) and more importantly, helped me become a better disciple of Jesus. Can’t express how grateful I am to you! You mean so so much to so many of us. Keep going (I intend to steal more!). Bless you both. Thank you so much. Love from across the pond! ❤
You are most welcome and thank you for your kind words of encouragement! We are glad you are with us on our journey Blessings Bucky
I loved this! I needed to hear these insights! Some new things to think about in how I approach my story. Thank you Nancy! Will be repeat listening to this one again!
Glad it was helpful! We are grateful you are with us on our Story journey - Bucky
Nancy relates to a reality I have lived.. trauma yet victory to preserve. I appreciate a women’s take & i appreciate her realness with life going haywire. Thank you
Thanks for sharing!! We are so glad you are with us on our Story Journey Bucky
"It's not enough. I'm not looking for power. I'm looking for power." My thoughts exactly, most of the time in most of my circumstances.
Thanks for following, Chris! - Rob
Jesus on the cross, had his Father’s presence, but NOT the power during the greatest injustice known to man. Not just the cross, but the days leading up to it. Jesus himself said “My God, why have you forsaken me”. Gives me an incredible reminder today that my savior understands my frustration with my present life situation that feels powerless.
Thank you for sharing, Wendy, that's the perspective we all need to keep during our own times of struggle. - Rob
Wow...Great words, Nancy. I have often had a verse pop up on my heart through my own struggles in my story.
" Offer a sacrifice of praise" Hebrews 13.15
Oftentimes it IS a sacrifice to Praise God...but out of obedience I begin! Before I realize it I am feeling the peace that passes all understanding.
What a wonderful testimony of how this works, thank you for sharing Laurie! - Rob
Love this today! I always love it when Nancy and John do a piece together ❤
We do too, glad you enjoyed it! - Rob
It’s such a treat when Nancy comes on. Hi Nancy! God, indeed, shows up. He has been my protector and friend my whole life, but it took looking back to see it. You’re so right Nancy. And I hope you two enjoyed date night. ❤
Well said! Thanks for sharing, Lennie. - Rob
Thanks Nancy for sharing your story. I love the idea put so clearly about we don’t get the story we want, that’s Gods way of getting us to seek him. Also we pick the best parts of other peoples story, helped me a lot thanks.
You are welcome - we appreciate you sharing - we are glad it was helpful Bucky
Having God's presence in my story. Not having my rights to my story allow access to God work. I like that! ❤
Me too! Thanks for watching, Bee! - Rob
❤❤❤
Thank you for being with us on our Story Journey - together Bucky
This year for Lent I gave up my expectations. Part of my story, now at age 66, is not being where I expected to be at this point in my life. I gave that up to learn to experience & rejoice in what my story IS NOW. Best decision I ever made. I'm not totally there yet, but this series is helping bring that home to me.
So glad it's helping, Candy! Thanks for sharing. - Rob
Thank you for the sugestion to "Reflect and invite God to reveal aspects of your story you can’t change. Write them down and practice accepting them in prayer." I needed this
idea. Im grateful God encourages us in so many surprising ways. HalleluYAH!!!
Thanks, Rose...I think we all needed that advice! - Rob
I WENT THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THAT AS WELL. I WAS TERRIFIED AS A SMALL CHILD IN THE FORMATIVE YEARS. THANK YOU.
Thank you for watching and sharing, Philip. - Rob
Thank you Nancy for sharing your childhood experiences so candidly ! Bless you ❤️ When I was a child my mom would get so angry at times that it was very frightening. I tried to please her but also feeling very angry too. I loved her very much but it took years to forgive and understand that it wasn’t me who was bad but mom had fears of her own not connected with me. I developed anger issues too which I finally resolved with a wonderful Christian psychologist . Thank you for all the beautiful work you and John do to help others. We are all so blessed to have you in our lives !! Love you ❤️
Thank you for sharing, Jeanne, that had to be so difficult. But we know, hurting people hurt people. We're so thankful you found help! Thanks for sharing! - Rob
