Life Update: finishing my masters thesis & moving away from NYC?? | thesis diaries ep. 10
In today's video, I originally intended on this video being a part of a weekly vlog, but I felt that there was too much to say and share about what it has been like to finish writing and submit my masters thesis, the immediate aftermath of finishing a dissertation, and what my next steps will look like over the next few months. Stay tuned to hear and see more about graduation and leaving new york??

★Who Am I?
Hello there! I'm Katie, a graduate student at Parsons School of Design studying fashion history and fashion theory! I really love old stuff, and started my educational journey as a community college transfer student at UC Berkeley where I studied anthropology and archaeology. Follow along to see me galavant around NYC in my silly little vintage outfits while I do research and find myself in essay writing crisis every few weeks!

Enjoying your videos for the last two years. What was your experience like at The New School/Parsons? And in comparison to UC Berkeley?
Ooh that’s a huge question! Long story short is that they are two entirely different cultures that took some adjusting to in both cases. I found that I really enjoyed learning at Parsons because UC Berkeley (and community college) gave me a good foundation to work from.
It would take a whole video to explain this in depth, but I will add your question to a Q&A video in the future! ♥️
All the best for the future!
Thank you friend!
thanks for sharing Katie! it's so uncomfortable to think about our identities outside of "school" or "student" so i think you are very brave for taking a stab at it! 🤍
Aw thank you! It’s something I want to do before I dedicate myself to more years of study. I think it’s important to have a good sense of self when you’re in academia
I related to a lot of this. I had a joke where I'd say "When people ask me what I'm going to do after I graduate, I tell them 'Take a nap!'" But yeah, life moves on, and another massive undertaking is on the horizon. Cool. =)
Taking naps is precisely what I’ve been doing ever since graduation lol. Life does indeed move on and I look forward to what’s next!
Congratulations on finishing the thesis 🎉🎉 will you be doing a viva presentation?
Thank you! We have the opportunity to present but it's not required. I presented a different project during our symposium
