100% agree with you on score sheets. Takes something from playful to bureaucratic. "Annnnd you win!" "Who cares!? Feels like we all lost having to do calculus in the end."
I’ve loooooooved every SM game through Tapestry... and these last two just haven’t caught my eye as much. Hoping four some good reviews on this since I’d like an excuse to pick it up...
@@BoardGameBollocks It's been shipped and is shipping globally, but the US is lagging because the big port in California is backed up and everything coming out of it is delayed. Originally those of us that pre ordered it should have been getting in around now but now they think maybe end of April.
it better have good production quality it's the "collector's edition"! It's always good to see a board game use small pieces like the cubes instead of just more cardboard tokens
I have to say that this game just didn't butter my parsnips. In no small part because the books were not a thing for me either. That said this collecters' edition looks the dog's bollocks and Stonemaier Games are a company I would trust to create a good, solid game. I hope that, when this one hits the table, it will be a solid keeper for you. If Scythe and Tapestry are anything to go by, I think this will be a safe buy for you.
Will have to see. One thing that always happens with this sort of thing is it disrupts the image I have in my mind of the characters and locations etc…
@@BoardGameBollocks Sure, the books may be something of a red herring as a board game typically ceases on elements of the story rather than trying to recreate the entire novel. OK, maybe War of the Ring Collector's Edition sought to be the exception (with all the bells and whistles).
There was a big disconnect between WotR and It’s source material imo. The character cards were the strongest link but other than that it felt like I could be playing Conquest of Narath.
Thanks for posting. I am glad you are receiving games for review from publishers, a good sign though can cause problems if you really have to pan something. Maybe I am just sour today but I own no Stonemaier games, don’t care for unboxing videos and view as a tax on the stupid parakeets. I don’t knew these novels but the premise seems less than inspiring too. Sod it I am going back to bed, why are my clocks an hour slow?

Nicely put. 👍🏻
Great unboxing, glad to see SM games on your channel and looking forward to your thoughts on the game

Not too long to wait then.

Flimsy cards in a deluxe cardgame?
Dunno what the standard edition looks like tbf…
