Fun fact: In one piece of art by Trevor Henderson, he depicts Long Horse and Siren Head as cave paintings to imply that humans have encountered them for a long time.

long horse reminds me a lot of Mari Lwyd/the grey horse, which was a tradition here (now outdated, at least not practiced in my town) where someone would dress up with a horse skull, decorate it with ribbons and the like, and put on a pole covered with a white sheet (giving the appearance of a really long neck). The mari lwyd would enter the house after a while, and depending on whether the house could "fight her off", she would either raid the pantry for food, or leave. A visit from the mari lwyd is considered good luck for the new year
