  • Leaving Chesterfield town centre through Lordsmill Roundabout finds start of a mapped 32 mile long A617 stretching to Newark. After only a few hundred yards, It meets the more recognisable A61 major roundabout through which this Derbyshire section was first given a dual carriageway linking the M1 motorway.
Heading onward over Junction 29, the A617 first drops height, width and speed when entering Bolsover district. A long slow climb up The Hill through residential areas of Bramley Vale and Glapwell eventually tops out across farmlands before crossing county border into Nottinghamshire.
A short section of dual carriageway incorporates Pleasley Vale roundabout, but newer roadside properties are currently replacing old Pleasley housing. The A617 originally continued directly through Mansfield on what has since become the A6191, but signs at next set of traffic lights reroute a right turn off along the towns 2004 bypass. That introduces next coverage along newer Mansfield roads in this long three part journey.

First video mounted on my 1996 Triumph Trophy. Seemed fitting to cover the A617 in 3 parts when riding a triple cylinder 900cc
