That's awesome. I remember seeing an old advertisement for Lego Star Wars where they had a lightsaber with Lego bricks in the blade and I thought it was a special container before I found out it was just a stylized ad. Seeing it life-sized like this reminds me of the ad.
Great idea and even better build - re display options, my first thought was an entire Lego arm, but actually think your option works better especially as you can mount it on a desk or vertically on a wall, genius solution. Really glad to hear the car chassis is nearly finished too! 👍🏻
Hey Matt, I saw you at Celebration 2023, I could listen to you talk for hours and you really inspired me, I’m 24 and honestly feeling alittle lost in the world I’m so full of passion and drive and just trying to find where to put it your story really inspired me and I just wanted to know, how do I do it, I feel too late to the race being 24 not doing an apprenticeship etc, your insight would be enormously helpful!
hiya, I used to work in gas and oil. At 30-ish I did a year at Uni ( Northbrook in Worthing ) to build a portfolio, find out where I stood skill wise and meet other makers while moving my shifts to nights. Then started to work my way into the industry, starting in window displays and Events, then theatre and now Film. you can do it. good luck
Those are absolutely gorgeous 🤩 I'd consider a "battle ready" version with slightly bigger handle to accommodate a motion sensor and a longer (not LEGO-proportions-accurate) PC blade.
Thanks 🙏 struggling with the bike files as I’m worried people will hit themselves on the bike and then blame me.. also… I have a V2 of the saber build in the pipeline.. not sure when but I’ve done most of the re-design.
@@MattDenton yes, health and safety could go mad. But if you're mad enough to make and ride a giant lego bike you've already signed all waivers. I've printed the V2 files. Is the main difference the electronics? P.S. When it's in a presentable state, I'd love to share my x7 lego ATAT.
@@MattDenton Hi Matt I'm a maker, not a coder, and I am bamboozled by the Saber GitHUB repository. I'm comfortable in Ardunio IDE and understand importing zip libraries and code basics, but I'm not sure about the way you've laid it out. Is there a main sketch? Any help would be greately appreciated.
I'm not overly useful here but I have a feeling you can get a spray on material that would work as a diffuser... even potentially that spray on "snow" that can be put on windows? Love the saber flicker, very nice touch!
Lovely build! :) check out the xiao nrf52840 sense, it has an accelerometer and can be programmed with the arduino IDE as well plus it's super small :) oh and it has a charger (albeit only 50mA, so charging might take a while using that)
Would it hurt the battery to keep it at an always charged state while in the holder? Maybe have contacts on opposite sides of the handle that are connected to the battery charging circuit. You could have it mate up with contacts on the inside of the hand that are wired up to a usb charger. This way you could take the lightsaber out of the minifig hand, play with it, and put it back in its charging hand. You could possibly wire the lightsaber up with a bridge rectifier connected between the contacts and the battery charging circuit so it wouldn't matter what way the saber would be mounted in the charging hand.
I would use either piece 15712 in light blueish gray (the O clip modified 1x1 tile) on a jumper plate or piece 93062c01 (Ninjago dule printed skeleton legs) on a jumper plate.
@@MattDenton omg, I guess I haven't had enough coffee today. For some reason I was trying to match the 32x28 exactly when in reality only the 32mm is important, which there is plenty of on amazon lol Thanks for the reply, just needed someone else to tell me what I was missing lol
Awesome project and thanks for sharing! Wonder if you or anyone has run into any issues with the code. I tried it out and have run into a wall withe arduino lowpower class where the usbdevice is not being recognized. Appreciate any thoughts.
Search for "burg blaustein" wenn you build it in xxl you can life on your own castl (oder 5000 pieces, but when you build All 5 Sets you have over 22000 pieces and a awesome castle in the garden) XD

Oh cool! I’ll have to look out for that :)
Those would make the coolest man cave wall lights!
For the diffuser you could use tracing paper or grease proof baking paper, that way you could double wrap it and glue the edge with some pva.
Yeah I might give that a go 👌
@@MattDenton Could you sand the inside or outside of the acrylic tube to make it diffuse instead of adding paper inside?
Yes possible. Would have to experiment a bit

Being his son must be so happy❤😊
Just what I needed another project... I guess I better get my 3d printer fixed and back in the game so I can make this. Very cool build Matt!
Yeah get it fixed and printing :)
Those are absolutely gorgeous 🤩

It could all be done ☑️
Miss my binge watching of lego go karts, hows the build been going
Matt, that is so so awesome 😀 Christmas sorted 😜. Just sitting tight for the bike files now... hurry up 😉

apologies Matt, I've found it. 😄
Would love a couple of these wall mounted either side of my monitors, mains powered! Very cool!
I’m going to do one without sound or batter that will run off USB socket 👍🏼
@@MattDenton yes! That’s ace. Get enough of those produced in time for next winter and you’d have yourself a very merry Christmas!
Looking great Matt! Keep on printing. :)
👍🏼
Looks like you’re about to help land a plane. 🤣🤣 need to buy one of these. 🤩
It does 😆
Awesome job, thanks for sharing 👍
Nice upload. Brilliant work as always. 👍
Thanks 🙏
I've always wanted one of these

I think the diffuser could be updated. Thanks for the feedback:)
Now I am waiting for the life-size lego stormtrooper costume. 😂
One of my best UA-cam channel!
Thanks 🙏
This channel is amazing, any chance we could see a lego Gandalfs staff?
Oh thanks 🙏

You gotta make the full 10x minifigure now!!!

Yeah I’m not sure, it may be ok to leave it charging as the battery has inbuilt electronics to protect it… really don’t know, nice idea though :)

I’ll check them out thanks 🙏
That seems like how General Grievous with display his lightsabers
😂
I feel comfortable with everything but programming the boards. Need a great tutorial just for that.
Shut up and take my money! 😃
Perfect work and ready for commercial trading. 👍
OK 👍 👍😆
Matt's back!
Cool
love it
Will you release the code for the D-O droid build? Also where can i find the print files? Its so amazing i have to build my own!
I won’t be releasing code. Files are available on thingiverse
Man I've got everything ready to build this but that size tubing is dang near impossible to find in the states lol
1.25” ??

Yeah I did a version with 32 x 26 too, you just need different size led spacer which are included. Or make your own :)
is the 3d printing finnish. i wanna see the next video on the lego carchasi. do you have much left for a new video on that prodiect
Hey 👋 most of it is finished.. I just need some time and the space to be able to film the next video!
That's awesome
Thanks 🙏

You mean after you put it into low power mode it’s not recognised? I think you have to wake it up from low power mode to get it to work again

Huh cool
very nice, build a darth vader to hold the wapen
Good idea 👍🏼
