I ordered a conte sketch set of 12. If you run out of conte white, can you substitute them for generals white compressed charcoal sticks? Plus is prismacolor nupastel equivalent to conte crayon? Sry, new to this, just trying to learn.
Anything else I can use to substitute for conte if I ever need to. I’m getting frustrated trying to sharpen charcoal pencils, so I’m sticking with stick materials like these
Hi, sorry for the late response. Yes, from my experience the white charcoal produces similar effects but has a different feel in its application. Layering white charcoal with conte crayon might present problems so experiment on a scrap piece of paper prior to executing a new drawing. Prismacolor Nupastel does not work that well with Conte Crayon IMO. I think it’s best to keep them separate. Try Rembrandt Soft Pastels instead. Good luck!
Nice drawing and some useful advice
Thank you Gordon. It was created for my students since we had to work remotely.
Very lovely!
