Asian Chicken Genetic Gains in Cambodia - Subtitles

ACIAR is supporting the first-ever native chicken breeding program in Southeast Asia. This groundbreaking initiative, led by the International Livestock Research Institute, seeks to address the difficulties encountered by small-scale farmers in Cambodia. By leveraging native chicken varieties, the program aims to breed chickens that grow more quickly and are healthier. Preliminary outcomes are promising, with the initial batch of chickens achieving market weight faster, thereby boosting farmers' earnings. This effort is revolutionising the enhancement of native chicken breeds and significantly improving the lives of local farmers.
