  • This video shows our visit to the Dharma cave on Mount Songshan next to the Shaolin Temple. This is where Damo is said to have sat for nine years and meditated before coming down the mountain and introducing a regime of exercises to the monks which were instrumental in the development of Shaolin Kung Fu. I think climbing to the cave is one of the highlights of visiting the Shaolin Temple but sadly not many people seem to do it. The climb is very steep!
This is a video from Long White Cloud Kung Fu's recent trip to China. The clips are organized into playlists to help you find the bits you want to watch. As well as things like our visits to significant historic and cultural sites, there are also a bunch of clips of really practical things like how to get around, what we ate, travel tips and so on. So check out the playlists below.

I can't believe my luck! A few years ago I visited Shaolin, ascended this mountain and in many places around the complex could hear a Buddhist chanting music being played around the Shaolin Temple complex. I more or less could remember this music ever since, but I didn't think I'd ever find it again and regreted not buying the CD at the stalls. Well what a nice surprise to hear it in your video at 1:52 for a few seconds and much more towards the end of your other Shaolin video! Now I can confirm that the music is called Da Bei Zhou, or the Great Compassion Mantra. The words consist of Bodhisattva names. I had just decided on a whim to google a video of Shaolin and Songshan so I could remember the statue and mountain, so what a nice bonus in your excellent videos!

The Great Compassion Dharani has unbelievable benefits from chanting it regularly and the same version is played in Buddhist Temples all over China. I assume you have found it on UA-cam.

some of us have climbed that mountain hundreds of times.. you should have allowed us to see the entire climb. The memories are awesome. Thank you. I actually ripped down the speaker system blaring western music over the entire valley. My Shi fu ended up finding out and secretly praised me :)

    你还在中国吗?are you still in china。 嵩山户外线路,比这好玩。
The outdoor hiking route of Mount Songshan shaolin is more fun than this.我常去。I often go hiking in weekend。
    No tickets required。
    Beautiful scenery of nature
presence a place where few people go。
