@@damianstarks3338 Glad you like the list.
Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island has to be one of, if not the best Scooby-Doo movie and I'll die on that hill. Cyber Chase and Camp Scare are close, maybe even Alien Invaders.
scream 1996 was the best movie especially that oppening scene will always be one of the most iconic openning scene of the horror history.
The 70's, 80's, and 90's were such a good time we got some amazing films and comic books I miss those times because these days it's rare to get something good
Facts my favorite eras are the 80s and 90s
I saw your channel for the first time a couple of hours ago. I searched up Carrie reviews and yours came up. Instantly liked your channel because of how detailed you are, subscribed right away. So if you see me in a bunch of your comments sections in the following days don’t be alarmed. Love the long format content. Scream is also my favorite.
I’m really shocked that you don’t have more subscribers and views because your videos are high-quality and you’re really easy to listen to. Thank you, Kylie.
As someone who is also a late 90's kid, this was an incredible list! Compared to the 80's list, the list of movies you mentioned in this are ones that I at least know and have watched before. Also as always I'm here for the chaos of these unscripted videos. Thanks for another awesome list video Kylie! Really love all the content we are getting from you this month!
She's not a 90s kid. A 90s kid was a kid during the 90s. I don't even consider myself a 90s kid, and I was born in 1990! I was 10 in the year 2000 unfortunately
I'm Glad you're keeping this series going. Children of the Night is one of my fave '90's horror comedies. It was directed by Tony Randal who directed Hellbound: Hellraiser 2. The sillier moments from Hellraiser 2 are very his style dark yet silly style. And you can see that in Children of the Night too.
Heathers was what made Tina Fey write Mean Girls. It's a really great film with Winona Ryder, Christian Slater and Shannon Doherty.
CANNOT agree with T2 being Horror BUT, OG Terminator? Fuck yeah.
Omg this was totally my decade!! It's so weird that you included Disturbing Behaviour because even though I completely forgot it existed and would not be able to tell you a thing about it, I remember I liked it! Also Deep Blue Sea is the movie that made me love shark movies and you've just unlocked a core memory for me - LL Cool J was my first celebrity crush I think 🤣
90s good times will never be another time like it ! Simpler times I swear , many films to appreciate till this day . 😊
So happy I was a kid in the 90s
I love your videos! And for some reason whenever I watch your voice is very calming to me lol
Great list and content, I'm a big horror fan & I really dig your style. You're an inspriation to me to start my own channel/podcast someday! Keep up the great work
I was born 2000 and had some great times during my childhood but I grew up watching a lot of the 90’s classics so that was great and great content as always😎
MY faves not included in this video, .. .
Fire in the Sky
The Guardian
Exorcist Three; Legion
been looking forward to this one! Also, love the lipstick color
amazing list, love the effort in all these
Subscribed. Stumbled upon your channel a few weeks back and I’ve been really enjoying your content!
Awesome! Thank you!
Currently hungover and really enjoying your 90s list 😊
Serial Mom is a lot of fun. I'm gonna revisit it soon as well as Cemetery Man.
love both of those!!
Good list! One of the local production companies is putting on a play/musical of Misery next year. It's bound to be a lot of fun. One movie that would be on my list and I believe to be underrated is Brainscan. I think From Dusk Till Dawn and Se7en would also be on my list.
Not sure if you consider it horror but it certainly has horror elements, My favorite horror from the 90s is The Crow. You are correct, Jurassic Park is a perfect film. Also, glad you mentioned Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost because, when I discovered your channel you reminded me of a Hex Girl. Witch's Ghost and Zombie Island are my favorite Scooby Doo movies. Thank you so much for your content, your honest opinions, and genuine reactions!
So much Hippie content this month got damn
Just finished reviewing all 50. Excellent list. I’ll have to later go through movies of the 90s to see if you missed a gem.
I took some notes. I liked your comment on active imagination. I think some of that is lacking these days when Directors show us everything and don’t leave us to fill in what’s not shown. Put in the right creepy sound and we scare ourselves.
Army of Darkness, so good. Jurassic Park, who doesn’t like a movie with Dinosaurs in it.
A fiend told me to see the Sixth Sense before anyone told me what it was about. Yes, not to spoil it for others, I was really surprised at the end. What did your Dad think?
Well, I have more to add to my want list. Many I have seen before, yes even in the theater when it came out. Good job Kylie 👍🙂
it was 3 stars for him which is generous by his standards!
I'm new to your channel, fun stuff, love it, and Scream is my favorite horror movie franchise! I have a Ghost face wreath hanging in my living room.
Yet another great video Kylie.
In the Mouth of Madness is like a dream... albeit a strange and dark dream. And deserves a 2nd. viewing.
What I like about John Carpenter is his passion for filmmaking. And, too, he said he'd make movies for free... but pointed out that making money is merely about survival.
Scream is a brilliant film. Period.
I love these kind of videos, tier lists, rankings top 10 and so on are always so great, because we get to hear your thougts on movies and it is nice to have different opinions, and people that say all kind of crap about why that is placed in that tier or whatever needs to come the fuck down and understand that its your list not their list. And btw, i also think that you pull that black lipstick off damn well, not a bad look on you at all Kylie. As always i love your content, i watch alot of videos from other similar channels like Cody Leach, Zach Cherry, Deadmeat, Posseded By Horror and ofcourse you Kylie. :) I am also a 90´s child, i was born on january the 2nd 1995, a great year of movies in my opinion. ;)
Samuel L Jackson and Rachel True (period) are so iconic to my life.
So many great movies. You gave me a lot to rewatch
Awesome list! My top 5 were child’s play 2, blade, seven, silence of the lambs and Candyman. Scream was at 6. Never been a huge scream fan, but it had to be near the top
Scream is probably my #1 all time favorite movie considering how often I rewatch it lol. From the 90's, I would also add Cape Fear, Misery, Hocus Pocus, and Storm of the Century (an underrated Stephen King miniseries). As far as Taxi Driver - if you have seen the Joker, you have seen Taxi Driver.
Hey Kylie not sure if I missed it or if you didn't include but was surprised seven didn't make the list, think my top joint 3 would be scream, seven and silence of the lambs from the 90s ❤xx
Newly subscriber! Love the channel …any horror channel ..I’m all in will definitely take look at your “ It “deep dive! Big time horror fan myself and a 1990 baby so I got most of the 70s and 80s horror in me first thankfully and at a very very young age I started like 3 or 4 .. child’s play was already in the vcr for me lol love your list although some may have been left out or if I missed it.. but 90s do bring a lot of good horror.
Went to go see Blair witch project first week showings and audiences were super shock thinking it was real!
And for scream 2 unfortunately I missed out on part one theater experience but for part 2 I remember it being so packed!! Great experiences
Some other horror movies from 90s
Tremors
Leprechaun
Dracula (bram stokers)
Lake placid
Anaconda
Alien 3 has its moments
Mimic (is decent )
Sometimes they come back
From dusk till dawn
Devils advocate
Ravenous
Demon knight
Dr giggles
Wishmaster
Some may be up your alley and most won’t be but for sure get at least one view.
You are killing it. You've helped me discover so many horror films that I haven't heard of or seen. I'm now a lover of cursed, idle hands and urban legend. I just watched the ice cream man from I think 1995. It's not groundbreaking but I loved it.
Lastly on John Walters. Pecker is a hidden gem in my opinion. Rant over. Keep doing all the things. You are fast becoming my fave you tube channel. Sorry its a long comment
Wow, it's rare to see someone mention Pecker.. it's a fun film..
@@BB13131313 it should be more known. One of his best
@@bradleypritchard5196I haven't seen many John Waters films, but I watched Pecker for Christina Ricci and Edward Furlong.. I hear it's one of his more mainstream and less shocking films, but I still liked it..
Pecker is just awesome
Try Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble, and Multiple Maniacs? THOSE, I assure you all, make Pecker and Serial Mom or all his recent films put together for that matter, look like Leave It to frigging Beaver by comparison!
Hey love these countdown videos. You so funny!
Practical Magic is one of my mother’s favorite movies of all time. She’s the oldest sister of among her sisters and related a lot of Sandra Bullock’s character looking out for her younger sister who was and still is reckless.
You woke up and chose violence with this video lol.. it's a great list!
90s was the best at "gateway/kids/family horror".. The Addams Family wasn't the first film I ever saw in a theater, but it was my first experience where I had a blast, it was literally a life changing experience at 7.. I loved Gomez and fell in love with Wednesday.. I wanted to be a male Wednesday, not aesthetically but personality wise.. Christina Ricci was the sole reason I wanted to become an actor when I was younger until I realized I had stage fright and it would never be in the cards lmao.. Addams Family Values is a GOAT film.. but then you also have Casper and Hocus Pocus which are October staples.. also Ernest Scared Stupid, you might not know about Ernest (maybe you do), but it's a 90s family horror banger.. so is Gremlins 2, but it's a bit more mature.. lots of classic family friendly spooky films..
Besides Scream, Child's Play 3 is my favorite 90s horror film and is the best in the franchise IMO.. your thoughts on the film are spot on! I think it's Chucky at his absolute best.. he's at his scariest but also his funniest, Brad Dourif killed it.. it's also the best looking Chucky IMO.. and the story, characters, and themes are great.. LOVE that film.. it was also the first R rated film I ever saw..
I really like The Night of the Living Dead 1990 remake.. the OG is obviously a classic and groundbreaking, but I'd personally rather watch the remake 9 times out of 10..
Disturbing Behavior is similar to Cruel Intentions in the sense that they're films I watched a lot in high school but then forget that they even exist as I get older.. I also don't remember anything about it besides Katie Holmes..
I hate IKWYDLS so much haha.. I'm actually shocked by how I never once liked it.. didn't like it when it came out and don't like it now.. but it's still a classic regardless of what I think..
LOVE The Faculty, saw that one in theaters.. Josh Hartnett was the name that was on the tip of your tongue.. he was also in Halloween H2O and The V!rg!n $u!c!de$..
I'm just going to stop here before I can't stop lol.. but overall I like 90s horror because I came of age during the decade, but I can also objectively understand why it's considered a "weak" or "stale" decade for horror.. Scream definitely saved the day!
Oh sweet. Was born in 99 too. I think the 90s is such an underatted decade for Horror, sure there are popular ones such as Scream and Blair Witch but I do think there's a lot of under appreciated Horror flicks from the 90s
As a 99 baby I totally agree with u that 90s horror movies are Soo underrated
Omg you names my favorite….TALES
FROM THE HOOD. I still get nightmares from
Tom Wright as Martin Moorehouse plus the ending. Plus Halloween 6 is a favorite too.
Despite the thorn stuff.
this was a fantastic watch and you done a great job. Was surprised that Se7en wasn't included, or maybe you don't consider it a horror movie.
Have you done a 70's one? This would be a fantastic list with all those classics in that decade.
Yesssssssss I'm Soo happy that u added disturbing behavior and the facility on this list ❤
Really good list. There are a few films it appears you haven't seen yet. The first is Tremors. Based on your tastes I predict this film would have made your top 20 if not your top 10. A fun horror comedy with really good practical effects. Another is one that just does not get talked about enough and that's Demon Knight. From what I can tell it's the first major film ever to feature a black final girl and she kicks ass, Looking forward to your 200s list.
... love that you shot this in conjunction with the Spooky Makeover seasonal vlog.. sans feather boa, which is a nice touch.. any chance of an Elvira watchalong (her 1988 self titled film debut) ... it's goofy but fun. You definitely ARE the new Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
Oo that would be fun!
@@HauntedHippie ... especially on Halloween
I’m really surprised “Dark City” isn’t on here. Such a gem 💎
I forgot to mention Edward Scissorhands, I think it ultimately belongs under the spooky umbrella.. same with Fear starring Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon, it definitely falls somewhere under the horror umbrella..
Just finished and really loved the list, even though you did the Faculty dirty by not placing it in at least top 20. But we're all free to be wrong every once in a while ;) lol. Kidding, of course, but I'm honestly surprised that Don't Look Under the Bed wasn't on here after seeing Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown! The transformation at the end (you'll know if you've seen it and anything more to say spoils it all) was genuine nightmare fuel when it came out. Rewatching on Disney+ had me surprised it was even greenlit to be released to children with 0 warning lol.
I noticed that Candyman is a bit of a white savior movie when I finally watched the whole thing. Still an iconic character though.
Nice excellent choices there Kylie! The 90's I remember the most fondly. I'm a late 80's kid but the 90's was the era I remember most.
Speaking of Disney, have you seen/do you remember So Weird? It use to be one of my favourite tv shows. It was like the X-Files for kids. Wondering if you have and if you would be interested in doing a deep dive/review on the series as a whole some day.
My faves:
*MOVIES*
1. In the mouth of madness
2. Candyman
3. Wes Craven's New Nightmare
4. Scream
5. I know what you did last summer
6. Jason Goes to Hell [As underrated as Halloween III: Season of the Witch imo]
7. The Craft
8. Practical Magic
9. Stephen King's IT
10. Tremmors
11. The Sixth Sense
12. Jacob's Ladder
13. Body Snatchers
14. Mimic (underrated)
15. The Faculty [just like how Scream was a homage of slasher films, The Faculty was a homage/tribute to body horror]
16. Halloween H20
17. Species [another underrated one]
18. Child's Play 2
19. Wishmaster
20. The Good Son
21. Idle Hands
22. Pet Sematary 2 [I mostly know Clancy Brown from Highlander]
23. The Nightmare Before Christmas
24: Jurassic Park
*TV SHOWS*
1. So Weird
2. The X-Files
3. Buffy The Vampire Slayer [seasons 1 - 3]
4. Angel [seasons 1 -3]
right now those are the ones I can think of. I need to revisit Event Horizon and I've never seen Body Bags.
SEVEN number one for me!
Thanks for another wonderful list and your amazing commentary ❤
Stay safe
My favorite '90s horror movies made the list at No.s 44, 31, &1.
Teen angst and horror are the perfect match!
Lol
Great vid awesome as always
Oh yeah! Here for all these! Absolutely loved this list as I know most of the movies on your list. Especially Halloweentown! Those movies used to be my shit! Thanks for another chaotic list video Kylie!
Hi Kylie, an honest recommendation (for everyone reading this!): please check out The Guardian (1990; William Friedkin) for some witchy, over-the-top, 90s-vibes with a little bit of gore on top. 90 minutes never went by faster.
Scream is my all-time favorite horror movie of the 90's, some others that I would put in my list are, (my birth year being 1990) Ghost, and Edward Scissorhands. Sleepy Hollow from 1999 with Johnny Depp is also a go to for me.
Fellow 90’s baby (1998) I love that you put Jawbreaker on here, does this mean you put Heathers in the genre of horror? Lol I’m a dark comedy gal. I prefer both Jawbreaker and Heathers to Mean Girls. Heathers is weirdly a comfort film for me and I even like songs from the musical. Not sure if you like Heathers or not lol. I’m obsessed with the Scream franchise. I am a fan of most of the movies on this list as well lol.
Need to give that one a rewatch tbh it’s been too long
Great list and this video was so fun.
Omg I love your taste in movies!! Scream is my favorite horror series ever made!!! Nothing even comes close!!
Great list!!
great list, you should definitely check out Cure and Perfect Blue
Also, Kylie if you like anime. A spooky horror crime thriller esque feature I think is worth checking out would be Death Note. It’s seriously 9/10 story telling. Also Tokyo Ghoul is a cool take on vampires and has some subtle social commentary. But I won’t say on what!
After watching a video of someone explaining the disturbing horror movie iceberg, i seen this video and i needed to go back to my happy place and talk 90s horror
Love this type of lists
Great list. Scream of course is awesome. If you haven't seen it split second with Rutger Hauer is great
There are a few movies where I wondered if you just hadn't seen them yet or if they were not your thing: Tremors/ Bram Stoker's Dracula/ The Mummy/ Teaching Mrs Tingle/ The Crow/ Anaconda. I kinda love though that your lists always has some kid's Horror!! Btw, of course that counts, we all need our entry level films, don't we???
My top 10: 1) Scream 2) Jurassic Park 3) Tremors 4) I know what you did last summer 5) The Ghost and the Darkness 6) The Sixth Sense 7) In the Mouth of Madness 8) New Nightmare 9) Bram Stoker's Dracula 10) Addams Family Values (because yes, definitely superior to the first one)
I saw tremors loooong ago at like age 12, haven’t seen the others!
Definitely "Scream" - those movies defined my college years (not to mention the Wayans Brothers parodies afterwards)
Great list. Have you ever seen The Frightners from 1996? Solid 90s one i think you'd like
I have, didn’t quite make top 50 for me!
I was born in 1989, I saw most of these in cable TV and some for VHS. I remember seen Terminator 2 and Scream on cable TV. Deep Blue Sea and Halloween 2H0 for VHS.
Thank you so much for putting Village of the Damned on this list. That is my favorite horror movie of all time and so many other youtubers say its John Carpenters worst movie and I have no idea why. I love this movie very much.
damn so many bangers this month!!!
who knew the antichrist was so prolific 🔥🔥🔥
bomb list, what a great decade. some of the lower ranked flicks might jump ranking with a rewatch!!
top 5 limited to 1 per director:
1. nowhere (1997) - i've mentioned this a lot lol, great strange dark comedy from gregg araki
2. lost highway (1997) - one of david lynch's darkest films, apparently inspired by the oj trials.
3. brain dead/dead alive (1992) - early peter jackson flick, perhaps the most creative use of slapstick gore in cinematic history
4. scream (1996) - duh
5. serial mom (1994) - even better when you've seen the entirety of waters' filmography. captures the public fascination with true crime that still resonates to this day. and its goofy as heck.
love idle hands, silence of the lambs, so many great horror flicks from this decade. this was a quick top 5.
I think they will fashoooo
@@HauntedHippie especially audition-- what a banger
YESSS!! i love to see Ringu so high on the list its one of my all time faves! ur past self knew whats up when giving it 5 stars 😌
Fantastic list. Scream is our number 1 as well :)
But GIRL, you NEED to watch the Mummy (Brenner Fraser).
NEED.
lol thank you for this. I don't know why my phone has trouble with the Brendan's of the world.@@theashwoodfaerie
Great video!
I recommend a little unknown horror movie from 1994 called ‘The Paperboy’ starring Alexandra Paul and Marc Marut (free on UA-cam!). It’s no Scream but I absolutely love it. Also Popcorn (1991) is worth checking out.
And Chucky is my favorite horror franchise so I’m glad Child’s Play 2 (the best in the franchise) cracked your top 10!
Great list!! I would also add Mimic, Sleepy Hollow and Seven;p
A few I can think of off the top of my head (in no particular order):
Scream (of course)
Scream 2
Braindead
Jacob's Ladder
Cronos
Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Misery
The Silence of the Lambs
Ringu
Candyman
The Sixth Sense
I remember watching the Sixth Sense on VHS. Oops I’ll be right back..I just dropped my cane
Bride of chucky is rly awesome. I wanna rewatch it now. great atmosphere, soundtrack, comedy and the best look and personality of the chuckster
I'm horrible at ranking favorites, but my fav 90's horror movies def include: Wishmaster, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Army of Darkness, The Sixth Sense, Blair Witch Project, 7even, Jack Frost (1997), and Candyman. I enjoyed I Know What You Did Last Summer, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, and Bride of Chucky as a kid in the early 2000's. I am afraid to rewatch the latter.
This is my first time being invited to join a cult. Finally! I never thought that it would happen to me. Dreams do come true!
Great list Kylie, ur a cool girl!
1. Halloween 6
2. Scream
3. Halloween h20
4. Bride of chucky
5. The Craft
6. The faculty
7. Childs play 3
8. Childs play 2
9. Demon Knight
10. Silence of the lambs
Scream was my personal gateway movie into slasher movies. It came out at the perfect time for me when I was 14 and even though I'd seen some older horror stuff like Alien and Predator, Scream was new and all the hype around it was great to experiance first hand.
I'm in shock you didn't mention haunting or house on haunted hill
Army of darkness getting love was very shocking but awesome at the same time!
i mean… the second she started it was like “well scream is number 1” lol
She’s so beautifulll the black lipstick with her perfect white teeth, her eyes, her hair, her humor ughhhh😍😍😍😍
Can't do a formal ranking but a few of mine: Silence of The Lambs, Candyman ( possibly would take the top spot in all honesty), Scream, New Nightmare ( and you might kill me for this but I liked it even more than Scream) If we're doing borderline then I also have to include Tremors and Tremors 2 and also hard agree with Halloweentown
I never get mad at a comment full of movie love
Yo!! Rad list Kylie! So 90s! I really appreciate this cuz I’m a 90s baby too! 1994! But the crazy thing is, I only really remember one year from that decade and it’s 1999! The year of our antichrist!! It was a great year for me cuz it was all about the phantom menace for me but now knowing you were born makes it all the more better! I love this cuz I can feel the passion and mind work coming off of you when you explain your love of these movies like scooby doo and the lost world Jurassic park! I love those movies too! I love that we have the same childhood that way! Keep being you kylie! You’re a real life hex girl and thorn was one of my early crushes as a kid lol 🫶🏻
90s babies 4eva 🤟🏼
@@HauntedHippiealso like you, I fully believe that was Michael at the end of H20!!
I mean, Scream and Jurassic Park are two of my favorite movies of all time, so yes.
Okay last one I promise haha, but I can't believe I didn't mention Freeway (1996).. I think I've mentioned it on your channel before.. it calls itself a "twisted take on Little Red Riding Hood".. it's genre bending, but horror is definitely a key element.. it stars Reese Witherspoon and Keifer Sutherland.. both kill it but Reese leaves earth, one of my all-time favorite performances, she should've gotten awards.. Danny Elfman with the score and A+ theme song.. hands down my favorite opening credit sequence in a film.. it's a respected and critically acclaimed film, but is lowkey forgotten, unknown and never talked about and I don't understand why.. it's a must see! It's on Tubi..
Danny Elfman is my weakness
@@HauntedHippie he's so good.. he was childhood best friends with the writer/director and it was his first time directing, so Elfman gave him one of his best tracks..
early for kylie also cause as a 97liner i love 90s horror movies
I said your non human given name outloud and my couch started to float!
The 90s was a great decate for horror movies. I mean Scream, I know what you did last Summer, The Faculty, Halloween H20, From Dusk Till Dawn, IT, Ringu, New Nightmare and so many more. Love all of them!!
😂😂😂😂😂
The 90s horror films are a lot darker than in the 80s, though I thought the remake of House On Haunted Hill from 1999 should have made the list.
Great content love these countdowns😃🥰✌️ Yes Scream is no 1, but have you seen the splatter cult movie Braindead/Dead Alive from 1992? Its so over the top and funny, great special effects, I watched it in 1993 at 11 years of age and freaked me out😃 also twin peaks, I love it!
have not!
@@HauntedHippieok directed by Peter Jackson, then Lord of the rings and a Beatles commentary, diverse director 😃 Youre brave listing 50 movies, that is …a lot😉 I would like a list of your 10 most scary/disturbing movies overall, should be fun
Hello Good selection love 90s horror Audition I'm a fan felt uncomfortable watching first time lol
If we’re your children, may I call you mommy?
Many call me maggot mommy
I am not going to lie, this is my least favourite decade for Horror. However, I agree with your thoughts with both jurassic park 3 and child's play 3. Also, my favourite from this decade is also Scream ! A movie that re-defined the genre !
Great list although I’d have to disagree on Urban Legend; I think Alicia Witt is a great final girl! She really grounds the film for me.
I’d also have put The Frighteners on there, as well as Species and Species II, Body Parts directed by Eric Red, the Night of the Living Dead remake, as well as another little known film with Matthew Lillard called Dead Man’s Curve, which is probably more a black comedy but has some horror elements.
Easy subscribe! Love the channel
I appreciate that this list represents your top 50. Having said that, I'm disappointed the following weren't included or mentioned, regardless of ranking:
Bram Stoker's Dracula
From Dusk Till Dawn
Se7en
Stephen King's The Night Flier
The Ninth Gate
Lost Highway
Jacob's Ladder
Well I haven’t seen those lol
@@HauntedHippie Shocked you haven't seen Se7en.
Penultimate means next to last. I think you were looking for "pinnacle." Nice list!
