The sharks had no business being competitive in this game let alone getting a point. Yaroslav Askarov saved them from a blowout loss. He was on another level. Multiple highlight reel saves on some of the best players in the league. I was surprised to see Rutta get a goal.
Blackwood was top 15 in numerous goaltending categories when he was with us. And he’s been dominant in Colorado. If we were actually trying to contend we would not have traded him.

Well, I mean, you have to understand, it was a tough game. The Sharks were really good at not scoring, so that makes it harder to win. Plus, it was a back-to-back, and we were probably saving our energy for the real competition. Also, the ice was a little slippery, and I heard the Sharks were using their home rink advantage. So yeah, I mean, we still won, but you can’t always expect a blowout, especially when you’re playing a team with nothing to lose.
