I just installed this on my bike and I would like to say that this is more of a deterrent and will not stop any for taking it off if they have 5-10 min, sure the "anti theft device" is great if you are on the road and need to fill up and just have to get into pay and back but when I park my bike I take the gps with me ..
I have a TomTom mounted on my brake reservoir. I've upgraded the bolts on the brake reservoir to Torx Security bolts and the bolts on the antitheft mount to the same. Its not 100% fool proof but better than standard. I don't leave the TomTom on when I'm parked up but its good enough for bike nights and suchlike.
Hey TomTom, With a cordless ratchet, those two nuts on the lower bracket would be off in two seconds flat, a few seconds longer with a socket, or even water pump pliers. Why not make a bit of an effort to provide a suitable proprietary fastener? Or at least to one that isn't easily removable by tools available in every basic tool kit.
Anyone with that pinlock cap can take it, or a small wrench on the ram mount will remove it as well. 100% safe is removing it when you park and lock it in one of the pannier of you won't be able to watch the bike. Locking a cover over top of the whole set up, made out of cloth that covers it up. I realize there are places in this world that have thieves waiting to grab anything they can, so care must be taken the just locking a fabric cover over any of your devices on your bike. But out of site usually improves the odds of not getting jacked. The harder it is for them to steal, the more likely they'll move on to an easier target.
Is there no Pin-code you can unlock that device with? Otherwise everyone who turns it on, can see where I'm living and the adresses of all my contacts and POIs.
My 550 glass started to separate from the unit after 8 months, the locking is way over priced and can still be removed. It seems like more of a gimmick to make more money.

Just take your unit off when you park up carry it with you , much safer idea
Might as well use a phone then.

By that theorie anything attached to the bike is easy to steal.

its a visual deterrent and works well for just that, however if i am leaving the bike anywhere i take the GPS and mount off completely

Once hou put the ram lock, and you turn gps on vertical position this can be removed so your lock solution dont work

Anti-theft? Sorry TOMTOM this product is ridiculous and dangerous. Every thief take the navi in less the 3 seconds. Are you nuts?
