For reference, the first HellDivers had a peak of 20K players. HellDivers 2 was approx 300K the last I checked.
server caps out at 350k, ive seen peaks of over 380k on Steamcharts
The first game had a peak of 6.6k, the second having a peak of 60 times that amount is insane
Pal World has already dropped significantly since it dropped; same will happen to Helldivers 2 after the initial wave.
Internet kinda has everyone jump on the latest game fad these days, and just like how you wonder how only 65% of people complete the "finish the tutorial" achievement in some games, most will have moved on in a month or two and the servers can come up for air for the people that wanna keep playing.
They've been consistently hitting their capacity of 500k concurrent players. On Steam alone, they had 400k of people playing (or waiting on the welcome screen) last night.
So, Sunday the game peaked with 430k concurrent players on Steam and an estimated equal number on PS5. The servers, as of 2/19, are capped at 450k concurrent players cross platform.
Helldivers 1 peaked at 13k concurrent players cross platform, with an average of 8k concurrent players during the later stages of its life.
Arrowhead went into Helldivers 2 with the servers designed for a load of 50k players at most, figuring the game would be maybe twice as popular as Helldivers 1. This means the game is experiencing about 20 times what Arrowhead was expecting.
This morning (2/19) Arrowhead made an announcement on social media they are looking into pushing a patch either Tuesday (2/20) or Wednesday (2/21) to correct the matchmaking, login queue, and war campaign stats. After that they are pushing work on the backend to increase the player cap and maintain stability.
Dev 1: Hey we're a small company, what should we prepare the servers for?
Dev 2: 500 people would be lucky
The servers: KILL MEEEE
They expected 7,000+ which is quite low

Since I’ve never seen any of their content before, Fooya & Pasta sounded like the same person for a while there. Really reminded me of the first time hearing AH Jack Patillio & a certain “former AH member” in the same video.

That final mission, Jeremy had the most friendly-fire damage, FooYa had the most kills, and Pasta fired close to 3550 shots. And then there was Greg.
Tbh the bugs they’re fighting kinda look like the ones from “wreck it Ralph” the Cy-bugs.

Ender's Game is about a brilliant child leading other brilliant children to defeat an alien race while playing video games. I would have said "Spoiler Alert," but the book came out in the 70s and used to be required reading in shcool in North Carolina (it is based here and the writer also lives here). There is more than one book. I would suggest it to all.
