Tough year for snow. I rode St Agat area last weekend of March and it was definitely the last weekend. Got warm quick and snow was gone. Hopefully this year is better, but not looking good right now.

We were going to do this ride form Greenville but did not have time. Trails don’t look to be marked well you use a gps?? I was told to go though Libby cabins for gas and lunch. Did you do a round trip? We are going back this year this year for 10 days can’t wait to do this trip!

I do have a gps on my sled but the trails are also marked pretty well, we gassed up in Rockwood before crossing Moosehead Lake.
Our next stop before heading to the trains was the Chesuncook lake house, I would recommend going that way, they have food and fuel. We did the trip in one day from the Forks in about 9 hrs.

@@husky3002 Is it possible to complete this journey without a lake crossing? I’m a little skittish about ice travel.

@@robertlarrabee9115 unfortunately not by sled, the best route to keep ice travel to a minimum would be to take the trails via Libby cabins and then follow signs to Macannamac camp, from here you could cross Eagle lake to get to the trains but it’s still a 5.5 mile crossing.

@@robertlarrabee9115 yes , it's totally doable all on land. Take it from someone that's been riding Maine for 30 years. Just takes longer.
