It's like anger and sorrow and helplessness and power and love and hate and everything a person can face in life in a line. So much of our lives can feel like just trying to get out of the crease between where we were and where we want to be, but not being able to truly be present in either.
That is insane how much emotion that man can deliver. Blows my mind everytime. Ever since FEFA I've been in love with this man's voice, lyrics, and delivery. Raw talent.
He’s adds so much emotion to music. The softness of “love at second glance it is not something that we need.” And the cry of pain in stark contrast to it “Honey understand I have been left here in the reeds!” “All I’m trying to do is get my feet out from the CREEKS!”
Just saw him play this live in Scotiabank Arena, Toronto and was totally blown away... I always thought the song was pretty neat, but then hearing this sound fill a stadium was night and day from the studio version. It totally shook me both mentally and physically (with all that vibration). Felt like some portal to an alternate dimension was being opened. I just wish he would release a live album!
I keep finding myself listening to this version over the studio version. Both are great but you can really feel the raw emotion this song conveys so much better this way. Absolutely mesmerizing
I mean, to be fair, he's also manipulating the vocoder or whatever it is he's using with a keyboard to add layers. But yeah, this version is incredible. I really want to see him live, but over here in the states, concerts like these are typically filled with loud, drunk idiots that would rather talk throughout a quiet performance like this than appreciate the music.
I was there at this concert and this was one of the most amazing, out of wordy performances I have ever witnessed. What made experiencing all the talent and dedication in the room even better was the crowd, which had the utmost respect for these artists. During some of the song you could have heard if a pin was dropped it was so silent. I loved it so much and will forever remember to this and am so thankful for the whole Paris crowd for being so nice.
I personally think this is Justin's best live performance of this song... Minus the overly loud crowd though I respect their silence during his performance.
Regarding the silence thing... if you have even the tiniest fraction of appreciation for sincere music and understand that ALL truly great music is born of either celebration or grievance, when the first few notes of this song enter your ears, the heart/soul are jolted by enthr emotive
Some of these comments are weird. I doubt professional, touring musicians have that much of a problem with cheering audiences vs silent ones. To say one group is more disrespectful than the other is inane considering everyone paid tickets to see them. Talking is different, though. Either way great song and I love Justin's voice more than anything.
He said that he wanted to make a voice prism like thing....like when you shoot your voice it seperates into the right colors given the right input...he certainly did it with this...
[Verse 1] Down along the creek I remember something Her, the heron hurried away When first I breeched that last Sunday Low moon don the yellow road I remember something That leaving wasn't easing All that heaving in my vines And as certain it is evening 'at is NOW is not the Time' Ooh [Verse 2] Toiling with your blood I remember something In B, un-rationed kissing on a night second to last Finding both your hands As second sun came past the glass And oh, I know it felt right And I had you in my grasp [Verse 3] Oh, then how we gonna cry? Cause it once might not mean something? Love, a second glance It is not something that we'll need Honey, understand that I have been left here in the reeds But all I'm trying to do is get my feet out from the crease And I'll see you Turn around, you're my A Team Turn around, now, you're my A Team God damn, turn around now You're my A Team
I absolutely love how its dead silent, just total appreciation and respect for the music
I've seen way too many performances with a chatty crowd.
its because its not in the USA. in the US you would have Chad and Becky shouting
@@L_J_D23 it depends on the type of concert
As if anyone would dare to speak when Justin sings 🤣
Welcome to FRANCE
“Honey, underSTAND that I have been left here in the reeds” gets me every time.
Every damn time
Goddamn turn around now you're my A team gets me
But 100% agree with you on the reeds as well.
here three years later and EVERY DAMN TIME
Wow, the paris audience is actually respectful enough to not scream and shit when the king of music sings
They seem to have a genuine respect for the art. It's incredible.
I was there for this, the place was so silent you could hear a pin drop in little gaps in vocals.. it really was unbelievable..
I would kill for this at some of the shows I go to.. Beautiful to see.
I agree. I was there too and I absolutely loved everything, including how the audience acted. Felt like such a gem to have experienced that.
in other versions I've seen, there's a gap with some silence....
"woo!"
please justin. just keep test-singing 'down' for eternity
finally someone said it!!!! he does it perfectly
haunting..shivering
u snapped with this one here
@@spencerella4 years later he still snaps
I would LOVE an entire 10min track of you just singing “down” before 715…
the way he says "get my feet up from the crease" provides me with an inexplicable feeling
mikey p hmm..I always thought it was get my feet out from the creek.
My brothers friend is named Mikey p

His vocal inflections when he sings “feet” blow my mind!
Called climax
I absolutely adore the silent crowd. That's the way it should be
Listened to this 725384 times and I still get chills
Same.
I listened to this 00000 Million times.
ba dum tss
I love listening to the tiniest differences in all the performances of this song
of all his songs
That slow ease into "feet" @3:12 is k i l l i n g me. Incredible.
yes, simply yes
Always been a golden note
😭❤🙏
This feels like poetry to me. This is the most raw, beautiful thing I've ever heard
That is insane how much emotion that man can deliver. Blows my mind everytime. Ever since FEFA I've been in love with this man's voice, lyrics, and delivery. Raw talent.
You might think we’re kidding, but almost all of us would listen to an entire hour of you just singing “down.”
He’s adds so much emotion to music. The softness of “love at second glance it is not something that we need.” And the cry of pain in stark contrast to it “Honey understand I have been left here in the reeds!”
“All I’m trying to do is get my feet out from the CREEKS!”
The dynamics in this are just next level.

The whole album sounds better live I think and I think Justin knows that too, the Live versions are just something else
I've tried and I can't find a better performance of creeks than this right here. Just amazing
God damn turn around now, you're my A Team
goosebumps every time I hear "turn around, you're my A-Team" part
how do you interpret it ?

I love this performance. Its so raw, its just JV belting into a microphone. It has so much emotion and power, he's done it once again.
I mean, to be fair, he's also manipulating the vocoder or whatever it is he's using with a keyboard to add layers. But yeah, this version is incredible.

The way he adds that effect to the word "feet".. my God. I always end up coming back to this when I listen to the studio version. Magical.
That's the very same reason i love this version over the original
Buttery harms
Who’s here 8 years later still appreciating this masterpiece?
So much better than the studio version
I have to agree with you :/
It's like the voice of God
Blake Davison I used Audacity to put some reverb on the record version, and then it sounds basically like this.
hooly crap, yes.
Want to share that with us? That would be cool!
This is seriously one of the most beautiful songs I've listened to in a long time
when you see Batman commenting on a song you know damn well its a good one
The second run of grasp at 2:44 gets me every time. Shakes me to the core
This song is as close to perfect as I've ever heard. Ridiculous. Insane emotion and barely a single audible word. Amazing sound.
Absolutely the best live version of this song that I know of.
This is devastatingly beautiful.
C'était magique, le Philarmonie était l'endroit parfait pour sublimer la voix de Justin. Hâte au mois de Janvier.
i've watched some covers of this song, but MAN there's something utterly special with Justin that no other has
This performance is other worldly.
No words. Absolutely amazing.
when he sings "night" at 2:29 i get chills all over oh my sweet lord
Love how he makes the sound check sound so lovely :D
bon iver warms my heart to see such warmth from someone so cold
Yup just coming back here to cry at how beautiful it is when the word "feet" fades in at 3:12
That "whoo!" at 1:05 made my ears bleed.
don't miss that one at 3:45
rb the sunset loner was looking for this comment
The world needs this right now

3:06 to 3:09 So much anger and emotional into those lyrics .
also in 1:05 ]:->
I love how there's a silence after he finishes. Everyone's just like 😮. I've never heard anyone sing with more emotion than JV.
phenomenal.
Definitely my favorite off the album, and my favorite live performance of it
He sings my soul... every damn time.
Just these test with "down" at the beginning are so calming
That accidental intro is as insane as the song, majestic
Such a moving song. Feel it in my soul and cry almost every time I listen. Just beautiful.
it's almost like the voice of god how everyone is just listening as he speaks his piece. its beautiful in a way
I personally think this is Justin's best live performance of this song... Minus the overly loud crowd though I respect their silence during his performance.
The emotion...
“Her the heron hurried away, when first I breached that last sunday” Paints such a vivid picture with such few words
Truly one of the only artists that can make me cry listening to their music.
Isn't it crazy what love can create
Regarding the silence thing... if you have even the tiniest fraction of appreciation for sincere music and understand that ALL truly great music is born of either celebration or grievance, when the first few notes of this song enter your ears, the heart/soul are jolted by enthr emotive
I come back to this every few months. It's just...pure? And absolutely beautiful.
I'm so glad this live version exists! I listen to it every day!
that 3rd verse is an absolute punch to the gut every single time, and yet i could listen to it on repeat forever
Omg after watching this live I love him and the song MORE!
this is the best crowd. every other live performance has people talking and clapping after every line.
I like the way in the live version you can hear his voice and emotion behind the auto tune
one of the best use of sound I have heard in a long time. thank you Bon Iver.
I love this song so much
The last line is definitely my favorite and you can feel the emotion in his annunciation of "God damn"
g∞sebumps
loved the pert where he is adjusting and trying to get the sound right, its just facinating
I cannot wait to hear this live in February.
I can't listen to this song without bursting into tears
BON IVER
CHILLS. EVERYWHERE.
The best live version of this song!
God this song is just so beautiful... Don't know what it is with it, it's just.. Magic. And sad.
Astonishing.
BEST version of vernon's creeks

This song is so haunting..no other way to describe it
this is breathtaking
Bon Iver goes Imogen Heap
This and “Woods” are definitely inspired by hide and seek
Heap uses a regular vocoder. Bon Iver uses an alteration of the Prismizer created by Francis and the Lights
So powerful
I now even know the audio test part by heart.
I routinely say really nerrrrrvous exactly how Justin does in this
This song is sooo goood
The harmonics are amazing.
This is pure gold
Wonderful!!!
He said that he wanted to make a voice prism like thing....like when you shoot your voice it seperates into the right colors given the right input...he certainly did it with this...
And I seeeee yooouuu...
What an incredible song
HONEY UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE BEEN LEFT HERE IN THE REEDS BUT ALL IM TRYING TO DO IS GET MY FEET OUT FROM THE CREEEEASE
pretty sure it's "get my feet out from the creeks"
Clue is in the title of the song 🤦♂️
It’s definitely “crease” according to the lyric booklet
It's crease 😁
[Verse 1]
Down along the creek
I remember something
Her, the heron hurried away
When first I breeched that last Sunday
Low moon don the yellow road
I remember something
That leaving wasn't easing
All that heaving in my vines
And as certain it is evening 'at is NOW is not the Time'
Ooh
[Verse 2]
Toiling with your blood
I remember something
In B, un-rationed kissing on a night second to last
Finding both your hands
As second sun came past the glass
And oh, I know it felt right
And I had you in my grasp
[Verse 3]
Oh, then how we gonna cry?
Cause it once might not mean something?
Love, a second glance
It is not something that we'll need
Honey, understand that I have been left here in the reeds
But all I'm trying to do is get my feet out from the crease
And I'll see you
Turn around, you're my A Team
Turn around, now, you're my A Team
God damn, turn around now
You're my A Team
Just amazing
woah man
I can't listen to this song without crying.
Want to see this live so bad 😭
I cry every time I hear this song.
better than the studio version
Honestly
