Tom Ford Beau De Jour Fragrance Review | Beau De Jour by Tom Ford Signature Collection
My thoughts on the new signature collection rerelease of Tom Ford Beau De Jour. So this is my Tom Ford Beau De Jour Fragrance Review. This is a great release from Tom Ford and a great Fougere fragrance like this is certainly needed in a collection of fragrances from the designers. It's very modern yet classic as well. It's chock full of very intense lavender with many other aromatic notes of herbs. This is an ultra-green Fougere and very quality perfect for a classy gentleman to wear day in and day out. Please check it out as I love this release and I'm happy it's been added to Tom Ford's signature collection. Are you a fan of Aromatic Fougere / Barber Shop fragrances? Have you tried the new Tom Ford Beau De Jour either here in the Signature Collection or when it was part of the Private Blend Collection? Please let me know, add a comment below so that I can find out.

Compared to the classic Caswell-Massey's Lavender Eau de Toilette ??? According to them, ".......Caswell-Massey has imported Lavender distillations for hundreds of years and developed a nose for the very best varieties of this special plant......" . I own some CM scents and do enjoy them.
Please tell me everything about Mont blanc emblem...does it perform
I just bought this last week. MASTERPIECE.
I wear this throughout the week for work, I do carpentry, and it stays on all day. People around me can still smell it after 9 hours of work! I would buy it again for sure!
It is the most beautiful, creamy-smooth lavender-based fougere I have yet found. Absolute A+, with wonderful performance.
I recently bought a bottle of the Private Blend of Beau de Jour at a retailer who still had some stock remaining along with several bottles of Shanghai Lily (which is also discontinued). Beau de Jour is possibly the most classy masculine I have ever smelled. It takes everything great about old-school aftershaves from decades ago and made a home run. Really, really love this one. It's in the realm of a Nicolai New York Intense or a Creed Bois du Portugal (not the exact same as either, but in this genre). And while I still like Bois du Portugal, if you don't want to pay a Creed price, Beau de Jour is less challenging, more nose pleasing for the masses, while Creed Bois du Portugal takes at least an hour to develop into the beautiful heart after a tough, harsh opening. No such hard opening on Beau de Jour. It pulls off what a designer is supposed to. It's pleasing rather quickly after spraying it on.
Again, it's very masculine. Grown, mature, well dressed type of masculine. You might be able to dress like a coffee shop hipster and pull this off if you look well groomed. I think this belongs in every "man's" collection, or rather, every male who is mature in demeanor should highly consider Beau de Jour.
Timothy S but this new version has been reformulated & isn’t the same as the PB. I tried each version one on each hand & the new version was less complex & had way shorter life than the PB version
Im tempted to buy a 50ml bottle.
Its a barbershop smell, but honestly, i kinda prefer Grey Vetiver more.
This fragrance is amazing. I’m a sucker for barbershop scents. Your review is spot on!
From New Zealand, Tom Ford is the ultimate fragrance house. Doesn't get any better!
from new Zealand too, they're the best.. just bought this for 100 on trademe, was 100ml with 50ml left very good deal, gorgeous fragrance..
I thought this one was marvelous UNTIL it was brought to my attention that it is nearly identical to Zino Davidoff, which performance-for-dollar is far more practical. It is nearly an eighth the price, too. Now I have a bottle of Zino and I'm loving it.
I don‘t share this opinion
@@OskarCeso Okie dokie
@@JJColb but zino is great too
@JJ Colbourne I'm just seeing this comment because someone replied. I don't see the similarities at all. I would say Beau De Jour is closer to Fougere Royale than to the Zino Davidoff. I find the ZD to be darker and earthier with much more pronounced patchouli. The BDJ is much more herbal and fresher to me not so dark.
@@OskarCeso I am inclined to change my opinion a bit more two years later. 😊👍 I do agree how that Zino is a bit darker and deeper, much more patchouli heavy.
Perfection! I fell in love with it immediately. I’m biased though, I’m a sucker for Tom Ford fragrances.
bought it yesterday....Im a woman, rarely loving "masculine" fragrances, but this one is the ONLY one from TF I bought in a second...tried milions of Fords, both private and signature line, and there are only 2 I can wear....Beau de Jour and Orchid soleil....
I really like the presentation of this bottle. I have always desired Tom Ford fragrances, but find it a little out of my price range. I do not own a fougere but this masculine fragrance really sounds like something I would love.
Beau de jour is my favorite fragrance I fell in love with it.
Great review. Went to Niemann to buy another fragrance. Left with this one as soon as I smelled it. No questions asked! Back up bottle worthy.
This is Tom's personal favorite and the one he wears.
I have a bottle of this and love it. Be light handed with it. Projection and performance is amazing. The oak moss balances the whole thing out.
PSA folks: Like many Tom Ford fragrances this is not a safe blind buy. Many people are going to love it and some people are just not going to get it. It's grown on me recently but my first reaction was not positive.
I love your reviews so much, you are so thorough!!! And this scent is beautiful. Bought it last week and have absolutely no regrets!
Hi Sebastian, got this one at the Beginning of last month and it’s almost been my signature office scent since, I’m absolutely loving it , I also have Argent and rarely wear it !
My #1 "barbershop" aromatic (VERY aromatic) fougere in my extensive collection of barbershop fougeres (I have BdJ, Penhaligon Sartorial, Fougere D'Argent, Fougere Platine, MDCI Invasion Barbare, YSL Rive Gauche, MMM Replica At the Barbers, Azzaro Pour Homme, Davidoff Zino, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, Drakkar Noir, etc. etc. etc.). Beau de Jour is simply more beautiful. It is more substantial in that it's more concentrated as Sebastian said, more "perfumy" which heightens the amazing Aromatic herbal effect. Beau de Jour presents itself as sort of an modern abstracted Ode to the vintage classic barbershop Aromatic Fougere. Whereas most of the others, for example Rive Gauche Pour Homme, smell like an amalgamation of actual products a barber would use, Beau de Jour doesn't, other than the fact BdJ smells like a huge lavender-mint shaving foam glob erupted on your face. Otherwise it's an abstracted vintage barbershop Fougere.
P.S. I like Fougere D'Argent better than Fougere Platine. And Beau de Jour FAR more than either of the other two or ANY other in the genre.
i might wait for the Gravitas Pour Homme by Mr. Smelly Dan
I received a sample of this from Tom Ford. It is a fantastic scent, but I never considered buying it because of the price. Now that it's in the signature collection and the price has dropped I may pick it up.
Brad Peterson it’s cheaper for a reason - it’s been reformulated & doesnt have the complexity or longevity of the PB version. Side by side with one on each hand the PB was a much better performer.
I'll wear this in the winter time, its fragrant, aromatic and pungent.
This one sounds nice and the price is reasonable for 100ml, though when you consider its “designer” perhaps not.
This is definitely niche quality. Great scent.
Finally received my Beau de Jour today and you are spot on as usual! It is a beautiful fragrance. You are definitely my top UA-cam reviewer and the detail provided is always appreciated.
I miss the 80s and early 90s when I would go to Macy's and smell this style of fragrances like Azzaro Pour Homme, Chanel Platinum Egoiste, Rive Gauche, and my favorite fougere of all time Gucci Nobile. I'm looking forward to this. Thank you!
Platinum egoiste came out in the 90's..
@@chrismitsos6817 read his post again.
I'd like to see Oud Wood in signature line. I know it's popular now, but i think the sales would explode.
J Will I disagree, purely because I don’t want it to become more wide spread. I like that it’s, so to speak, a tad “hidden”.
@@callumwells took the words out of my mouth...
This sounds like Heaven to me. I'll have to get it this spring. Thanks again Sebastian for yet another superb review.
Great review, just got this 50% off with May 1st deals, 74.95 euro for the 100ml bottle
SilverPanos damn, you’re lucky! I payed €107,- and I was already glad of this deal hahah.
It’s excellent, one of his best fragrances.
I love it!! I sprayed this on and it took me back to the 80s: it is fairly close to how I remember the opening of Giorgio Beverly Hills for men, which was huge in the mid 80s. Does anyone else smell the similarity?
Do you prefer this one to Chanel Egoiste Platinum?
It s more aromatic and mature smelling, but not in a bad way
I really want to try that seems really good ,but a good one that is cheap is bowling green by Geoffrey Beene is long lasting fougere !!
Great review as always, I'm picking up a bottle of Zaharoff Signature Pour Homme in a few weeks. It's an amazing fougere but with an oud twist. It's amazing
I am a fan of your reviews, so far the best one in youtube , when i want to buy a fragance i see your review .
Great video! Glad you uploaded this one as I just got a 50ml and I really enjoy it. It was a blind buy, and I am happy it's an incredible scent.
Just bought this from Saks this past Saturday and let me say, it is well worth the price gentleman
nail on the head with the pungent first hit
was just typing an E mail to my girlfriend that i was unsure about it
by the time i got to the pungent bit the lavender aroma hit me
it was a total u turn for me, love it now, just got it today in the UK
give
L'Occitane Homme L'Occitan Eau de Toilette,
a go at quarter the price for 75ml
Oh my god 😍 This fragrance is amazing. Same ballpark as the Houbiganta but the aromatic notes going into much greener bitter direction. I fall in 😂
This is nice but the private blend is beautiful and deeper I don’t understand why there was no hype for the original release now it’s on UA-cam everywhere?
Looks good. Great review I would love to try it.
Love your reviews Sebastian 👍 Got a bottle on the way, kind of a blind buy, as I only smelt it once months ago but remember loving it. Price was too good to pass up… seems like it maybe a good one 🙂
Thank you. And great buy if you got a deal!! :)
I’m really interested in getting a new fougere fragrance. I find myself debating between Beau De Jour and Rogue Mousse Illuminee. Sebastian, is there one that you would prefer over the other? Thanks for the great content!
Sebastian could you make the PB vs the Signature line of BDJ, there is tons of speculation about it being diluted I own the PB version and is amazing and last forever. also a comparison of the 3 lavander scents from TF well the ones mentioned here on the barbershop styles platine, argent and BDJ
I love the scent, and will buy it very soon
Thanks for the review, love your take.
Bravo lovely Reveiw… What i was pursuing at last you made it to discover the true scent behind this fragrance. You have absolutely present it in very sophisticated way. What would you recommend of Fougere fragrance from house of Nishane B-612 or Tom Ford Beau De jour? Which one is best as a signature scent? Thanks in advance?
Heritage Eau de Parfum Guerlain for men, gosh for the price I put this right up there with the new TF, especially it’s dry down
Hmmm... tempted. How does this stand up against something like Houbigant 'Fougere Royale'?
Interested . Thanks Sebastian .
I read or heard that it translates loosely to man of the moment. How do you feel it stands up to the original in the private line? Has it been changed or reformulated? I happen to love it to me it comes off as rotted florals very similar to davidoff Zino.
I love zaharoff new fragrance I think I will like this one too :)
YSL made a huge mistake by discontinuing Rive Gauche Pour Homme :(
I wonder what other private blends they'll do this with ,I could see it becoming very successful for them.
I have this in the private blend bottle , but it's almost gone so knowing that it's still good is a god send for when I've to rebuy it.
Appreciate your Insight as always 🙏
Maybe Rose Prick? LOL! That's just launching sadly. I think though they have only done this with the lower priced Private Blend fragrances. So? Hmm. There are a few I can totally see them do this with! :)
@@ThePerfumeGuy I bloody hope not ,I've got rose prick coming this week .
So if I could get double the juice for half the price ,I'd be fuming 😂
Robert Quinlan I have both and cannot tell the difference
@@descampsf that's good to know , appreciate your perspective on it mate ✊
Robert Quinlan yeah I have Beau de Jour in the Private Blend so interested in this new one.
I believe you have Acqua di Parma colonia intensa, wouldn't you say it smells a but like this one? I find the dry down specially very close. Being BDJ more florar and ADP more citrusy. Both share the herbal and ambery dry down to my nose.
I enjoy these reviews.
Awesome review🌹….kindly tell which one is best Tom Ford Beau De Jour or Nishane B-612. Tom ford is not easily available in our country, i have to order it via Amzone while Nishane B-612 is easily available. Kindly guide🙏🏻
its great, but do not pay 180 usd - to expensive- i prefer 3eme bay Caron, or penhaligons sartorial, or lalique pour homme- i buy the 3 for 180 usd-
Is it true that it’s been reformulated?
Great review and I enjoyed it and I'm gonna try it have a blessed day
I'm undecided between this and Fougere Royale. Which one would you prefer?
It’s really a toss up as they are both about the same price. I do have to say the Tom Ford is much more sharp!
Just got it today and OMG SO GOOD!!
It’s a good one from TF!! 😀
Smell similar to YVS River Gauche Vintage i have one , and the notes are similars
@ Gp Fragances, if you had to pick one between the two, tin can Rive Gauche vs this Beau de jour, which one would you pick/suggest?
It is almost identical to Zino Davidoff.(great perfume)
Great video as usual. Do you know if YSL Rive Gauche in tin can have a 10ml sample?
I have 2 big bottles and im selling 10 ml bottles of rive gauche on Ebay! Everyone sells them for 40+ ...im going to sell for 35
Tin can bottle!
Its not bad. It honestly wasn't sharp enough for me. If Im going for a scent that smells like shaving cream.. I REALLY want it to smell like shaving cream. I don't want something half assed. It felt too rounded out for me. Maybe this was their attempt at making it "modern". Screw modern. There is nothing more masculine to me than that classic smell of shaving cream. I feel even something like Drakkar Noir pulls this off better than Beau de Jour. We need the 80s powerhouses back. Down with IFRA!
How would you compare this Beau de Jour to the private blend version ?
How similar is this to Fougere d’Argent?
Question: Can I blend this with Grey Vetiver?
Yes
Hi there. Can you compare it with Paco Rabanne Pour Homme? Does it smell more natural than Paco?
YOU REMIND ME OF A YOUNG ALBERT EINSTEIN
Awesome review dear! Is this the same as the old bottle? I have a 50ml, and I love it! So glad it’s back!
Yes it is! They smell similar and no changes! :)
Sebastian, how does this compare to the Private Blend edition that's now discontinued? I'm just thinking that this is half the price of the Private Blend so something must have been lost.
Jason Newton if they did like Ombré Leather, the formulation is the same. They just moved it to the signature collection.
What would be the top 3 fougeres that you would keep in your collection?
I’ll have to study.
Brother what happened to the fresh spicy compilation. I enjoyed the warm spicy video (eve/winter) now looking for spicy choices for spr/sum. Thanks as always. Cheers.
this is def a try b4 u buy! There is some weird note in opening, which is just so off putting for me. I had to wash it off!
Just got my bottle today, it smells like Aveda hair products during the opening, then I swear the dry down smells like Artemis.
whats an artemis ?
Which one would you suggest between Tin Can Rive Gauche or this Beau de Jour? If I had to pick one between these two.
Both. Rive Gauche Pour Homme is generally considered the epitome of the genre, but Beau de Jour is a more beautifully concentrated Aromatic variation on the typical genre frag. Beau de Jour is my #1. Followed by Penhaligan Sartorial, TF Fougere D'Argent, MDCI Invasion Barbare, then YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme.
What about Aqua di Parma ebano?
I was thinking about at the barbers but I think I'm gonna wait & get this instead
Is it same juice from the private brand or slightly different formula?
Compared to the private blend?
Is there any difference in the Private Blend version and this Signature line version other than the price?
very classy scent for a classy gentleman !
Great review, but heavy lavender and herbs? I'll pass
Wonder how this compares to Fougere Royale by Houbigant
Rive Gauche is to Azzaro Pour Homme, as Beau de Jour is to _______?
Eau sauvage?
Carl0sFandang1976 interesting... think so?
I had a couple coworkers tell me I smelled like an old man wearing this. 😂 I adore the scent though.
This stuff is hella strong and last a long long long time!!
im confused . is it a fougere or a chypre.
I'm intrigued...how does this compare to Azzaro pour homme, are they similar?
They are not similar except for the fact that they are both Fougeres. 😄
Feeertht! Was waiting for this 🙏
This is quite a good release. Just the price is a bit too much! :(
@@ThePerfumeGuy ya here in Canada its $260/100ml I can get the private blend for that now I guess thats the 50ml PB but still I thought this would be a touch cheaper.
YIKES. That's rough! OMG! :(
Can you compare it to Fougere Royal?
Wonderful smell am intrigued
Great job
Hey Seb. Do you think there is ambroxan in TF Beau de Jour?
Could be anything is possible! Trickery happens in perfumery!!
@@ThePerfumeGuy 😊 well I had beau du jour on my hand then took a shower and now the only thing I smell is pure ambroxan. That salty woody note. 😉
I an see this for sure.
Reminds me very much of grey vetiver edp.
Close to sunshine and beach hut man by amouage?
What size bottles does it come in? Just the 100ml?
50/100
@@ThePerfumeGuy I'll get the 50 I think. Is it redundant compared to azzaro pour Homme?
Have you ever smelled smalto pour Homme and pavarotti pour Homme? If not I'd highly recommend both to you, think you'd really appreciate them both. There are many-a-mini of them out there for your sampling needs. Much higher quality than todays releases too
Wasn't Fougere D'Argent discontinued?
