I understand what most of you are saying when you say, she's supposed not be classically trained since she's self trained, but to make it that far up with a prestigious ballet, requires at least a little classical training. Idk about you guys but it seems really disrespectful to me that she didn't even try to put her hair in a neat bun.
Why are they talking about "perfection'? "Kate Parker" can't even get her feet over the box of her pointe shoes. And her pointes look like they aren't even broken in. Heck, She can't even TIE her ribbons properly.
I feel like a lot of people who have watched this and commented about Kate Parker being bad haven't watched the full movie and don't realize that she is SUPPOSED to be raw and pretty much horrible.
@Kostas Notty for sure no like i got that but as a dancer it just makes my heart hurt watching poor technique. no hate on the movie! i understand that it was for the plot and to show that she isn't perfect but yike
Why is this girl the lead? Her foot isn't turned out and her legs aren't straight and her attitude is way off. Her pointe shoes are sparkling new and not broken in, and her ribbons are out. Sure, the movie may be good, but it'd be better with a better dancer and people who know what ballet really needs!
The movie and specifically this scene is to mock a ballet audition but honestly, what school, and this is suppose to be the best ballet school in America, would allow auditionees in without proper ballet attire and gelled hair. And why are all the leos and buns so informal yuck.
This would be a great movie if the dancers where good it looks like they've been on Pointe for 1 year and in ballet for like 3 when they look like teens and grown ups and some of them aren't very flexible and is it just me but there is always 1 girl with the last name Armstrong in ballet shows or movies
We aren’t commenting stupidly and I’ve seen the movie she’s a decent hip hop dancer but sucks as a ballet dancer. And I know she had to train herself but in real life she wouldn’t even get the part of Cinderella
ppl are so dumb. anyone who has met Rachele knows what a great dancer she is. There are a lot of things in the film which are to give viewers insight into the world of 'classical' ballet. They mention her discipline being 'raw' and 'wild' etc.. which is indicative of her role as a dancer without means to gain professional tutorage and for the millionth time, as everyone as said, you'd have to be stupid to not have heard 'her? i'm looking at him'
At least the audio was still decent for the 2000s. Especially for a ballet movie. If you've ever been to a ballet or been in the room with pointe dancers, you KNOW that the wood in their shoes and the hardwood floor do not make a very pleasant or very quiet sound.
@balletdancer12396 but in the movie she was supposed to be kind of.. poor? so she doesn't have proper ballet attire because she couldn't afford it. and she was also teaching herself ballet AND pointe by watching dvds.. so this movie is a bad influence really haha
so all of you mediocre to 'good' classically trained ballerinas out there who want to talk about ribbon and sparkling new shoes, turn out and straight legs, calm down because it's meant to be entertaining not a docu-drama on the do's and don't's of classical dance.
well the movie called for a girl who looked like she was never professionally trained so....its expected that she wont tie her pointe shoes well and what not. and did you notice the connection between the two girls in center stage 1 and this one? they were supposed to be the worst, the ones that never shouldve made it lol think about it. shes not SUPPOSED to be good...although, amanda schull is obviously far better since she used to dance professionally.
Lolsome Sarah Jaynes good but she's too tight. She doesn't know how to losen up in this film ^^ Well it's her script to be uptight. But anywho. Overall everyones good. They get paid to act and do a good job. What else?

Yocelyn Macias Relax its just a movie
Why are they talking about "perfection'? "Kate Parker" can't even get her feet over the box of her pointe shoes. And her pointes look like they aren't even broken in. Heck, She can't even TIE her ribbons properly.
Erin Smith I suggest you watch the movie first. When he said 'perfection' he's talking about the guy not her
I feel like a lot of people who have watched this and commented about Kate Parker being bad haven't watched the full movie and don't realize that she is SUPPOSED to be raw and pretty much horrible.
1:42 *what perfection lmao😂
Ballet Girl lol i was just looking at that
omg i was cringing the whole time she wasn't even close to being on her box and her back leg was so bent AHHHHHH i cry
@Kostas Notty for sure no like i got that but as a dancer it just makes my heart hurt watching poor technique. no hate on the movie! i understand that it was for the plot and to show that she isn't perfect but yike
I so wish i could learn ballet. It seems like such a graceful dance
“That’s perfection. Look at those legs.” I’m sorry which leg are you looking at?
The guys legs 🦵
Whose pointes are that shiny? lol...
Why is this girl the lead? Her foot isn't turned out and her legs aren't straight and her attitude is way off. Her pointe shoes are sparkling new and not broken in, and her ribbons are out. this.. "kate parker" has no idea of what ballet is. and i still wonder how
they find her ideal fore the role.
argh I can't even watch ....why couldn't they get better dancers
The movie and specifically this scene is to mock a ballet audition but honestly, what school, and this is suppose to be the best ballet school in America, would allow auditionees in without proper ballet attire and gelled hair. And why are all the leos and buns so informal yuck.
Jane Wong If you watch this movie, she is poor she cant afford it. Btw, its just a movie, you know, make believe
Omfg how hard is it to cast real dancers
This would be a great movie if the dancers where good it looks like they've been on Pointe for 1 year and in ballet for like 3 when they look like teens and grown ups and some of them aren't very flexible and is it just me but there is always 1 girl with the last name Armstrong in ballet shows or movies
Rachel Brook Smith is perfection. I suggest watch the movie first before commenting stupidly

It`s the Pas de Deux of the Black Swan in Swan lake
@balletdancer12396 but in the movie she was supposed to be kind of.. poor? so she doesn't have proper ballet attire because she couldn't afford it. and she was also teaching herself ballet AND pointe by watching dvds.. so this movie is a bad influence really haha
@sasXOXO i donnu what its called but it's from Swan Lake when the black swan is on the party or something...
ummm Sarah Jayne Jensen is clearly the better dancer in this movie
What the piano melody at 1:28
It is from "Swan Lake". Act 1 No. 5 Pas De Deux 2. Andante. Allegro
Did anyone know that the real Kata Parker is a real ballet dancer. Buy the vid & watch the doc at the end.
whats the song called at 0:39 ?
Black swan paux de dux
so all of you mediocre to 'good' classically trained ballerinas out there who want to talk about ribbon and sparkling new shoes, turn out and straight legs, calm down because it's meant to be entertaining not a docu-drama on the do's and don't's of classical dance.
Jay Sena Torres Agree
the way she dances was obviously choreographed to look like that and I would like to see any of you do better which I doubt highly
she might not be like perfect but in the movie she never had proper classes how wud she know wat was perfect?
ew ew ew 1:44
sarah jayne jensen is wayyyy better
well the movie called for a girl who looked like she was never professionally trained so....its expected that she wont tie her pointe shoes well and what not. and did you notice the connection between the two girls in center stage 1 and this one? they were supposed to be the worst, the ones that never shouldve made it lol think about it. shes not SUPPOSED to be good...although, amanda schull is obviously far better since she used to dance professionally.
Cringing so hard at the sickled feet, bad sewing and the fact that she is not over her box.
ew
Sarah jayne is so good, but this "kate parker" girl is sooooooooooooooo fucking bad, i mean i like the movie but they'd have use a bette dancer, huh?
ugh
"kate Parker" does not idea what ballet is -.-
Lolsome Sarah Jaynes good but she's too tight. She doesn't know how to losen up in this film ^^ Well it's her script to be uptight.
But anywho. Overall everyones good.
They get paid to act and do a good job. What else?
i totally agree...she is beyond horrible
SHE IS TERRIBLE....ahhhh thi is an insult to ballet
