My reason for discovering the band is quite stupid I'll say. It was from hear the mr blue sky among us meme too many times, and deciding to listen to the whole song. Fell in love with the song. Didn't want to taint my love by listening to more of their music. Watched a video where a guy explains the writing of mr blue sky, and in the video he talks about the rest of the concerto for a rainy day. I decided one day to listen to it. I got it on vinyl too, along with sgt pepper and spirits having flown on unrelated notes. I got their greatest hits record, got a cassette of the classics, and started listening to their new stuff. I've even grown to appreciate balance of power. Anyway the point of all this is to show that some one can relatively naturally come to liking such an underrated band. Oh and the stupid amongbus memes weren't entirely the reason. I had heard mr blue sky on the radio a multitude of times, as well as don't bring me down.
ELO was my Dad's generation. I grew up in the 80's & 90's and found them on my own (and claimed them as my favorite band), now my kids listen to them and love them as well. Timelessness can never die.
I must have listened to this song and album a million times back in high school, cruising the block in my 68 Camaro with this playing in my crappy cassette deck.
I discovered it later... I had heard it a few times when I was young and enjoyed it but it wasn't until I re-discovered it when I was around 14 or so that I really got into it. It became one of my all time favorites and it is my favorite ELO next to Eldorado. Underrated album but glad to see a lot of people have found a fondness for it.
A cassette deck you say you guys haven't lived until you had to live life with an 8 track player. Many a time cruising down the road with my trusty 65 Chevelle SS with a cold one between my legs while trying to adjust the tracking on the tape by slipping a match book cover underneath the tape.

I have no idea how people didn't buy this album. I agree. They had a peak period in the On The Third Day, Eldorado, Face the Music period, and I kind of lost it with Disco?-Very and Out of the Blue, but I think Time was a late flowering where things came together again. I also quite liked Secret Messages.

I felt an urge...one day...to listen to an old ELO song. Turns out it took me down a rabbit hole and I've been humming songs for a couple of weeks now. It's kind of a thing in my head ATM. Not complaining at all. This music makes me feel happy.

LYRICS:
The visions dancing in my mind
The early dawn, the shades of time
Twilight crawling through my windowpane
Am I awake or do I dream?
The strangest pictures I have seen
Night is day and twilight's gone away
With your head held high and your scarlet lies
You came down to me from the open skies
It's either real or it's a dream
There's nothing that is in between
Twilight
I only meant to stay a while
Twilight
I gave you time to steal my mind away from me
Across the night, I saw your face (time)
You disappeared without a trace (time)
You brought me here, but can you take me back?
Inside the image of your light (time)
That now is day and once was night (time)
You leave me here and then you go away
(It's either real or it's a dream
There's nothing that is in between)
Twilight (twilight)
Twilight (twilight)
Twilight (twilight)
I gave you time to steal my mind away from me
You brought me here, but can you take me back again?
With your head held high and your scarlet lies
You came down to me from the open skies
(It's either real or it's a dream
There's nothing that is in between)
Twilight
I only meant to stay awhile (twilight)
Twilight
I gave you time to steal my mind
Twilight
I only meant to stay awhile (twilight)
Twilight
I only meant to stay awhile (twilight)
Twilight (twilight)
Twilight (twilight)
Jeff Lynne, THE songwriting/producer of our time
The visions dancing in my mind
The early dawn, the shades of time
Twilight crawling through my windowpane
Am I awake or do I dream?
The strangest pictures I have seen
Night is day and twilight's gone away
With your head held high and your scarlet lies
You came down to me from the open skies
It's either real or it's a dream
There's nothing that is in between
Twilight, I only meant to stay a while
Twilight, I gave you time to steal my mind
Away from me
Across the night, I saw your face
You disappeared without a trace
You brought me here, but can you take me back?
Inside the image of your light (what!)
That now is day and once was night (what!)
You leave me here, and then you go away
It's either real or it's a dream
There's nothing that is in between
Twilight, twilight, twilight
I gave you time to steal my mind
Away from me
With your head held high and your scarlet lies
You came down to me from the open skies
It's either real or it's a dream
There's nothing that is in between
Twilight, I only meant to stay awhile
Twilight, I gave you time to steal my mind
Twilight, I only meant to stay a while
Twilight, I only meant to stay a while
Twilight, twilight, twilight, twilight
E.L.O. never changed their style very much and that was fine with most of their fans. This only went to #38 but who cares. (DJs must have been sleeping) Another great number by Jeff Lynne & Co.
Critics seriously need to take a second look at this album, phenomenal.
Or perhaps we need to look at critics.
Man, every time I listen to this song I imagine me flying and fighting copyrighted enemies alongside a traveler who came from a Radish-shaped spaceship.
(Yes I came here because of the DAICON IV Opening Animation)
Just watched Daicon IV yesterday. This song was a perfect fit for it. Although, I know it was not legally used.
Such a great piece
I played this song, as an instrumental, with my starry projectors. And that was awesome!😃👏
Tonight, my Norwegian Chanel nrk2 show concert from Hyde Park 2015. Amacing. Thanks Jeff
Happy 20th birthday, 4chan.
Remember, you're here forever

Thank you Elo
Best band ever. Jeff lynne rules!❤
How many were led to this amazing song by the Daikon IV video?
Right here.
I had heard of ELO before that though from an old friend and then heard some more on a plane Journey from Japan to L.A. I did not seek out albums from that point, but I will now.
I can't hear this song without thinking of that bunny girl :D
Bingo
I would not know this song existed, if not for Daikon IV.

Beautiful Hall of Fame music from Jeff Lynne and ELO
The eternal genius of Jeff Lynne 😁👍
I was introduced to this song by the Transformers Lost Light trailer animation
Never stop listen to Elos music 🥰❤
Esto es música, otro nivel.

Twilight to jest przebój wszechczasów zespołu Electric Light Orchestra z płyty,,Time,,
You have to put this album on and listen to it in its entirety to fully appreciate it.
Лучший альбом E.L.O.
I adore this song
I've been led here by my father 25 years ago. Thank you daddy!
This is a song that skips merrily through my life at the oddest spots- "Undocumented Features", DAICON III/IV, even a small purple unicorn. It's still a message from another time...
A saory
KITTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Paula.
How had I never heard this song? I love ELO but was introduced to this cause of that Daicon IV video lol regardless I’m glad I’m here
Can't wait to see them in August. _It's gonna make my whole summer worthwhile._
I discovered this song like 3 days ago and I LOVE IT!
Today is the day that I watch for the first time the Daikon IV film and that I listened to Twilight. It was a great day 🥳👏🏻
Finding this song on Densha Otoko's opening and then learn that they use this song specially to reference Daicon IV, only that made my mind blow
to start the album off with this song was fucking brilliant
This album is TIMEless
ELO really made bangers, if I could animate I'd remake the intro of Daicon with *our* Twilight.
I fully agree! :P
ELO you are not forgotten😊
Thank you daicon 4 op 💕
what a song
best pop band ever
Most definitely.
Not pop, classic rock. Pop came around in the 80s.
