Raspberry Pi Serial Connect to USB via FTDI

- This video describes how to connect the TxD and RxD pins of a Raspberry Pi to a USB-equipped computer using a 3.3V FTDI USB to asynchronous serial adaptor cable. This cable does two things for us. First, the connection to the Raspi will be through a terminal interface using a serial (COM) port. Most computers do not have an old-style COM port, so the cable converts the USB protocol to the serial protocol to give us one. Second, the cable converts the voltages to the levels required by the RPi's 3.3 volt serial interface.

I like the hands-on assembly
Very useful !!! Thank you
Great thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Can I connect two raspberry's for serial communication using this cable? Thank you!
How do I install ubuntu desktop for raspberry pi 4 using FTDI?
The FTDI device is used only for serial communications with an existing O/S on the remote device, i.e., the Raspberry Pi. To install Ubuntu or any other operating system, it's best to install it to the Raspberry Pi's SD card directly. There are some excellent resources on their site at www.raspberrypi.org/software/operating-systems/#raspberry-pi-os-32-bit
