Strong work, sir!! After watching the series, I had to buy this kit. I've printed the lower engine "bell" area. 6 parts so far. They go together very well. I used my CA glue and you're right, very solid hold. Haven't decided if I'm going to sand down the kit details and scratch my own yet...please drop 4th video!!
Thanks for the great comment. It's a great model straight up but with scope for improvement. How far you go is up to you. I've totally redesigned the cockpit and will make the files available shortly but it all takes time. My cockpit sides are now lower so I have also re-designed the canopy. The wings need work as does the engine detail. I hope you are enjoying building your Slave 1 and my channel.
@@StaplesandVine absolutely enjoying it, great content, professionally crafted videos, and amazing narration! My solution or workaround for the detailing is to copy paste each panel onto 0.2 mm styrene sheets, and superglue onto the hull. Maybe I will upload a basic video to show you what I'm up to :)
Thanks@@aaronm1855 a very kind comment. Good idea about the 0.2mm styrene. I'm going down the sand-fill-sand-scribe route as it is what I'm comfortable with. Check your panel lines as the rear boarding ramp lines should be parallel and there should be a big vent on the rear left edge. Good luck with your build. 🙂
Hi, thanks for subscribing. I had thought about sharing the .stls but most of my cockpit parts are getting some pretty serious butchery after printing so the files are a bit pointless. What would be more useful is a set of drawings for the cockpit which anyone can download for free and use as starting point. That's something I may well do. You will have to wait until the episode #3 for that though.
I love this model. And I’m really impressed with your skill. Since it’s printed in ABS, I’m just wondering if there was a reason you used super glue rather than something like solvent-based cement?
Hi Rob, thanks for the kind comment. I have used solvent adhesive to bond ABS on previous builds (Maus, T80, BlueBird) and it works well when the fit is good but on these large prints where fit is an issue superglue works much better.
Hi staples and vine brilliant effort for a replica it would be a future dream to 3D print a scale slave 1 ship 👍but for now I brought the vintage collection slave 1 but the canons are rubbing , could I ask would you print some scale laser canons for me and how much ?? Thanks for your time
Hi Lutonian 79. Thanks for the comment. I haven't researched the cannons yet for re-design and printing but would recommend you adapt what you have already yourself you will get a far better result solving your problem on your own. Don't forget the original model was just built from bits so you can't go wrong. Cut and adapt what you have and reinforce with a few bits of brass rod and I am sure you will get a great result.
Heya! I’m really enjoying your Presentations. But I’m a little concerned that the dimensions are not really right for this kind of project? The print itself seems a little heavy set and some of details are not correct? I have the Fine Molds , Bandai and MPC Kits. The FM Kits are at 1/72 Scale and are Pretty Large at about 16/17 inches in length. The Engine Shroud is a little on the thick side. But as you said the filming prop is made from fibreglass. The Repulser Lift Fins don’t look right. Also Slave 1 is pretty broad on the front and rear elevations- the Engine Shroud is quite squat. But yes I’m Gripped. The area just below the Cockpit Canopy is actually deeply recessed? You’ve filled it with Milliput so you might have to drill it out again? Please Forgive Me. When it comes to this Vehicle I’m something of a Mad Obsessive! But yes I’m enjoying it immensely! Best
Hi, thanks for taking the time to comment, it's appreciated. I agree with you. This is just the starting point. There is a lot wrong with this model. Most of which I can correct but I'm not after a studio replica. For instance the rotating interior solution from the Mandalorian is insane. There is a better way... I hope to 'engineer' a better more credible Slave 1 while still maintaining all the character. 🙂
Marvellous work!👍👍👍
Thanks Gambody. I love your range and I'm enjoying using your Slave 1 as a basis for my build.
Not really a space ship fan, but the layout and voice of your videos is what makes me want to watch!
Thanks for the great feedback. Hopefully you will enjoy the rest of the build inbetween project StuG.
Really coming together nicely. It’s obvious you have put a ton of work into it already
Thanks Bob, it's been a lot of fun... so far. 🙂
That is an absolute monster ! Huge, awesome work and corrections as well. I would have given up before starting 😅
You're right, it is a beast! I am discovering more wrong than right, but enjoying the process.
very detailed.
Hopefully it will be when it's finished 🙂

Subbed! Can’t wait.
Are you sharing your files for the cockpit?

7:44 - This view always reminded me of a horseshoe crab. I wonder if that was a design inspiration.
That's a good point. I hadn't thought about that. 🤔
The Matte painting of slave 1 is a photo of the model, flipped
That's interesting Craig I didn't know that. A good thing I based my model on the original photos of the studio model. 🙂
