    Great work Paul. I managed to acquire a box of old fashioned carbon paper as used to make duplicates on typewriters. It's probably difficult to get now but it's ideal for transferring images.

      Cheers Mark! That sounds like a much nicer way of transferring the image :)

    To reproduce complex drawings you can use screen printing 😉

    Interesting technique! Definitely took some artistic ability even though you had a model to work from. Well done! Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks for sharing! I’ve created a few pieces using this method but the company that used to expose my screens closed down. Once I find a company to do it, I’ll make a video on the process :)

    I know this is late but have you tried gold leaf and cutting the leaf with your laser? then enamel paint the negative? Just a thought. love your work

      I haven't tried it but I think it would work because I use it to etch mirrors which are the same in principle

    Very nice!! Cool project and it turned out great!! I like how you emphasized on cleaning the glass really thoroughly. This is so true. I’m working on a mirror gilded project now and didn’t clean the glass good enough 🤦‍♂️. Gonna just power on through and consider it a more rustic look😂. Would you have a glass cleaner in mind for us over in the USA? I tried looking up the Pierre d’argent but couldn’t seem to find it

    • @happygilder
      @happygilder  2 роки тому

      Thanks very much! I would recommend Bon Ami if you can't get the Pierre d'argent. I've been told it's easier to source in the US :)

      Many moons ago I dabbled in Leadlighting. We used "Whiting Powder" to clean the glass - it's calcium carbonate as far as I know. I wonder if this would work?

    Great work as always! I was wondering if that technique would be possible using genuine platinum leaf instead of gold? Does gilding process with platinum leaf differ anyhow? I've tried to apply platinum leaf on engraved, etched and plain glass (for testing purpose), painted those areas with back up black, but still got some areas peeled of... :( Do you have any suggestions how to solve this problem?

    • @happygilder

      Unfortunately I’ve never used platinum so I can’t help. However there are nearly 900 people in the Facebook group so I reckon you’d get an answer on there :)

      Hi, the mix is called 'size'. It's a mixture of distilled water & leaf gelatine. There's a detailed instruction on how to make it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/cdJaB7OGvb8/v-deo.html

      @@sjh4282 it certainly can. You just need a few gilding tools to apply the gold leaf. The video I released just before this one has details and links to the tools I use :)
