The Nexon's 1.2 Turbo is not as high tech as the I20. It has port injection compared to i20s direct injection, but overtime Tatas engine will be cheaper and easier to maintain which is exactly what most consumers want rather than winning street light drags. Moreover direct injection engines like the i20's have carbon buildup issues and they don't always run great with cheaper, regular gasoline but the extra power and the efficiency is a bonus. Although In this race it's a no match even if the power is same , nexon is more than 200 kgs heavier. I feel the Nexon is too bulky for it's size and you're right it needs more power but for 70% of the consumers a compact Suv makes more sense.
