A really fantastic and beautiful 'plane. I really love WW1 'planes, they fly so well, I think that it's because the originals were designed to be so maneuverable and flew so slowly. Don't take chances with the speed controller, you don't want a fire! Keep flying and good luck.
Looks great, Cliff. There's something really magical about an old biplane against a blue sky like that. On the second flight, you said it had a hell of a rate of climb. I'm pretty sure the real thing does as well, which is one of the reasons why they were so good in combat.
love the plane! i’m partial to the old ones. now i might seem old school, and i know electric is less hassle, quiet and reliable, but i need to hear a piston engine! maybe i’m crazy!
Really a great flyer! And great piloting also. An excellent testament to the design, build and restoration. I still find it incredible how well you can get to fly the planes and on top of it do loops and all that. I am sure you will take this one out more often.
Hello Cliff Harvey, wonderful flights with the Fokker D.VII! You can enjoy the plane in the air, not too far away from the viewer. Beautiful model! Greetings from Lübeck, Germany
@@Chef-Pilot Thanks, I only film with a small headcam so zooming while filming is not possible so I flew as close as possible given the circumstances, cheers
Hi Cliff - really lovely DVII👍. Beautiful flying weather as well. Might they be able to trim the grass a little closer? I know it's more difficult when wet. Very nice video 🤩
@CliffHarveyRCPlanes Not if you dilute the fuel as all fuel is for two strokes....20% castor oil is way too much for a four stroke. I dilute it 50/50 with straight Methanol. Increases power and reduces oil to 10%....Very little oil residue...😏🇬🇧
Very nice Cliff. A lot of people say that an over rated ESC will have to work harder as its resisting the current at low throttle settings. I think that may be true of older types of speed controllers but personally, with these modern, high speed switching electronics, the reverse is true. Most have temperature cut off of some kind and it may be that your particular one is coming on too quickly. You might try a different make of the same rating to prove or disprove the point?
Good point Bob, the current draw was more than than esc is rated for but drops back ok when cruising around but I'm pushing my luck I know. The finer pitched prop has dropped the draw down quite a bit now so I'll see how I get on, cheers
Hi Rolf, it's all an illusion, we're quite close to sea level and we're on the south coast of the UK, it's been snowing quite heavily up on the hills I'm told 😁👍
Nice model but the sheep seemed totally unmoved by either its beauty or your flying. :) I bet it's not quite so nice there today (Saturday 23rd Nov) - Bert has probably put a stop to your fun. i didn't notice you disconnecting the battery before you checked the esc temperature. Those APC props can cut very deeply.
@@belperflyer7419 Thanks Belper, I suspect even the sheep are in the clubhouse having a good old sing song 😁 I always press the isolation button on the tx and even then I test it just in case. Imperative when you're on your own. I think some clubs don't allow flying if you're alone.
This is what it's all about guys, a lovely historical aeroplane on a lovely sunny day, cheers
The days of blue skies are now drawing in as autumnal winds keep us glued to the building board this will brighten the best of our days nice one cliff
I hope so Barry, I'll probably rewatch it a few times myself 👍
Brilliant to see an old bird get a new dress and get to fly again. 😊
Maximum satisfaction Mark as we know 👍
Very nice job flying your D.Vll.The blue sky and green grass made this a great video.Cheers Cliff!
Hi Don, I do try to film on sunny days, the little camera doesn't do well when it's overcast, cheers
Beautiful 😍
And such lovely conditions
Make hay while the sun shines Mike, surprised not to see anyone else though!
Great looking model. 😊
Many thanks!
Beautiful!
@@johnshoosmith Thanks John, it was the perfect day in many respects 🙂

A really great looking old kite - and you flew her very well.
Thanks Roger, I love the word Kite, it ranks well with ship 😁
Very nice flight Cliff! What a beauty on an equally beautiful day!
Many thanks Adam, a rare but beautiful flight on the perfect day with the perfect model 🙂
Beautiful airplane and flights!
Thank you
Cliff fantastic flying of the beautiful Fokker. What a great morning for flying. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff, she's a very nice model to fly, I couldn't resist adding the second flight in as well 🙂
Nice flying, what perfect day too ,great looking model there mate 🤙🤙🤙
Thanks Nathan 👍

The early planes had so much style and character, I love them too. I think I'll be ok now with the esc, cheers Tony
Nice job with the restoration, and it's a great flyer too!
Yes John, thank you 🙂
Very nice!
Thanks BL, it was a lovely morning for sure
I have a Blue Focker DVII it flys great. I think more people should fly the old war birds.
Real stick n rudder flying.
Well done Cliff.
You're right Nick, it should be mandatory 🙂👍

Thanks Daz, definately a formiddable fighting machine, a cantilever wing as well meant to rigging wires to cause drag, cheers

Not crazy John, that's the only thing missing 🤔

Thanks, you're right about when it's wet, it's difficult. I have a roll of vinyl in the club shed I should have fetched out really! Cheers
Needs a little four stroke Cliff...🤔😏🇬🇧
I agree bur I can't be doing with cleaning gunk off my pristine airframe 😁

Looks like they mowed the field in a circle
Yep, saves having to land cross-wind as well Paul!
You are lucky, here it's snow and -10°C. 🙃
Yep, I'm lucky Tom 🥶
Sehr schöne Fokker ❤ wiso ist das Wetter bei dir so schön 😂 wir haben Schnee und es ist kalt😂😂 Gruß Rolf

I can’t recall do you fly any fuel powered planes
I used to Paul, a long time ago!
Cliff, what sized battery did you use for this? I'm building a camel of the same size. 1000 may be more than needed for a decent flight.
I use a 2200 3s which sits next to a good ounce of lead!
