The way my jaw dropped when I saw this video title! I remember discovering your channel from some Finnish news article that mentioned your reaction video during the Cha cha cha craze somewhere in early 2023. You make such genuine and fun videos. The reaction to Sara Siipola - Paskana was golden. I truly hope you will enjoy your stay in Finland and meet good people, new friends. I can't wait for the future videos. Just do the things you want and meet new people and omg, I am so excited for you! 🤩☺
Thank you so much for the support! I’m so excited to share my experiences in Finland on here.
@@espotpod, I have now lived here in Jyväskylä for 23 years, and I can honestly recommend this city to be a good place to live in. Welcome !
Congratulations and welcome! I hope you will love living in Finland!
Thanks so much!
I am SO beyond proud of you Renata! After being with you in Finland and seeing how happy you were, I know this is exactly the right step right now and what you need in your life! Oh wow! Welcome to Finland! This was a surprise but a pleasant one.
Soon you can enjoy live gigs of your favourite Finnish artists and why not find new favourites.
Lämpimästi tervetuloa!
Kiitos! Yes I can't wait to see my favorite bands and also find new artists too. I have tickets already for portion boys in November 🔥
Welcome, it's lovely to get a person like you who is so positive to move to my country. Hope you enjoy the time you are here. And lovely to hear that you are so interested in Finland. 💗🇫🇮
Thanks so much! I am so excited to experience more of Finland.
This video brings me so much of joy. Tervetuloa Renata!
Aw that's so nice to hear 😊 thank you!
It's so nice to see you get what you have been trying to reach, from the Käärijä video to now. Grats and welcome!
Thanks so much!
Congrats and welcome ❤ So amazing to see someone so genuinely excited about something!
Thank you! I really am so excited!
WOW! That was wonderful news. I myself have lived in Jyväskylä a long time ago. It was a really nice city. I cried when I had to move out (for work). I look forward to your videos of your life in Jyväskylä. The terrains for walking the dog are great there, like almost everywhere in Finland. A warm welcome to Finland!
Thanks so much! Jyväskylä seems great, I'm excited to finally see it for myself.
Congrats Renata! I'm a Finn in Sweden but my relatives live in a small town 30 mins north of Jyväskylä and I've been there several times. Jyväskylä is a fun and friendly city so I hope you will love it and have a great time. The love you always show to Finland is so heartwarming for me and I wish you all the best on this new journey 🤍💙🤍
Thank you! I didn’t get to visit Jyväskylä when I went in February but I can’t wait to explore. It seems like a great city with nice nature around.
@@espotpod University city with lots of sports, quite a good culture scene too. And of course, rally.
Oh my goodness, fantastic news! Congratulations Renata! Jyväskylä is such a charming university town. Welcome! ❤

WOW! Congrats and welcome! 🙂🙂
Thank you!
As a Finn, I'm specifically interested in the story of how you ended up moving here. What really / actually motivates you? You described the process very well. So.. welcome to Sweden.... I meant Finland (common joke) :)
It's great that you have also learned Finnish. It helps in everyday life. Jyväskylä on upea kaupunki "keskellä" Suomea!
Kiitos! 🇸🇪❤😂
Great news, welcome to Finland. I look forward to hearing from you later on about your experiences with our country and people in general if possible.😀
Thank you! I will be posting frequent updates!
Welcome and I hope everything goes well.
Thank you so much!
Welcome to Finland! I'm moving to Jyväskylä to study this month from Oulu actually! I hear Jyväskylä is a beautiful place with lots of nature ❤ Haven't visited it yet myself but I bet you'll also enjoy your time there 😍

Moikka moi Renata and welcome to Finland.😊😊
Moi ja kiitos!!
Oh wow...this is amazing to hear, welcome to Finland. 🇫🇮 I have myself lived in USA for many years, in Arizona, so different from Finland, but amazing time. For me USA is like my second home country.
Tervetuloa ❤
Thank you! Arizona is so amazing. I lived briefly in Tucson and also did some work in Tumacacori. Every night I sleep with a javelina plush toy 😆
@@espotpod we lived in Mesa, not as old as Tucson, more like any city. What I mostly missed from Finland was the forest and the 🌲 trees, but I learned to love the 🌵.
This is awesome news! I hope you'll be happy in Finland and that you and your dog will get used to the weather here :D
Thank you! I’m thinking I’ll put her in agility to get exercise and maybe see how she like the sauna too 😂
So happy for you! Hope you enjoy Jyväskylä, it's a beautiful city with lots of students from all over
Thanks! I'm so excited to be there.
Happy for you. Welcome to Finland!

It's very important to listen to your heart and go with what you feel makes you happy. Welcome to Finland and enjoy your stay
Thanks so much. That is good advice.
Congrats and Welcome! 😊Awesome topic for research. I hope to see some videos about your experiences and thoughts while living in Finland. 💙

So cool, welcome to Finland! ❤😊

Hi, welcome to Finland! I’m happy for you!
I have a chihuahua and they really don’t like the winter 😂 remember to use dog shoes with her ❤
Thank you! She will need to train on the dog shoes once we get there. I don't think she will like them unfortunately. It seems many people have Chihuahuas there, which is interesting because they are notorious for hating winter!
Welcome to Finland!
Thank you!
Welcome Renata 💗

Just found your channel . Welcome to Finland. And I'll be waiting for videos in the future, as is everybody else 😀
Thanks so much! I look forward to sharing my journey with you!
I'm so happy you are coming here! I truly hope you enjoy being here. I'm sure this one sweet, amazing band and its' gigs will definitely help and of course Pelicans🩵 Really amazing how much we have things in common😄 Can't wait to see you again and have fun time with you. Welcome to Finland 🩵🩵
Between Pelicans and Portion Boys I won't have much money left 😅 can't wait to see both with you!
Welcome! Fall is kind a rough time to move here, due to darkness but i hope everyting goes well.
Thank you! I don't expect to mind the fall/winter very much, as I really dislike hot weather.
Welcome to Jyväskylä!
Fall is really beautiful here if you happen to come before end of september. During the winter you are going to be in shock because of the darkness. Just 5h of "daylight". Also winter clothes are better to buy from a place where there is actually cold weather. In Jyväskylä the last few winters have been really cold and with lots of snow. It will get -30°C at some point. It can be one day or a week or few weeks. At the spring you will be amazed how everything "lights up".
Thank you! It will be interesting to see the extremes of winter/summer daylight hours. I grew up in the north with harsh winters. When I came in February it was -28c and my jacket was very warm. Some days I was sweating while walking outside because I had too many layers! 🥵
Welcome! Hope you enjoy living and studying here. :)
Thank you!
Fall is a good time to move to Finland as it isn't so dark yet... but be prepared, it does get really dark the norther you go and Jyväskylä is already pretty north in that regard. 😅 Lot's of vitamin D + good food + physical activity + socializing. Best ways to enjoy Finnish winter. And of course if you like winter sports, there will be a PLENTY. Jyväskylä is a nice place to move in for sure.
Welcome to our winter wonderland. 😁
I love winter sports. Especially ice skating. Also I can't wait to see the northern lights! It's always been on my to do list.
Welcome to Finland it’s a great place to live 😊
Thanks! I love visiting Finland and expect I'll enjoy living there too.
Welcome to Finland! 💙 It´s Great to hear you like ice hockey and Finnish hockey players. 💙
Thanks! One of the things I am most excited for is going to hockey games!
Well this sounds like an adventure! Just be prepared that every day in Finland is not going to be such continuous happiness. There will be bad days, too. It's so important to take care of yourself to manage through the depressive darkness of the autumns and winters. Simplicity is characteristic to the Finnish way of life, and making life simple is the trick for coping the times when life feels messy. I wish you all the best! 😊
Thank you! I grew up pretty far north and actually didn't mind the dark days so much. In fact in the summers I always felt more depressed. Maybe this is because I enjoy sleep so much 😴
Followed you immediately. Welcome to Finland !
Thank you so much!! 🫶
Welcome to Finland! 😊 👍 You really should try (almost) all of our traditional foods! ❤ 😋
I liked all the food I tried when I visited, especially the bread and pastries. Excited to try more.
Welcome,Finn here🇫🇮🇪🇺🔥
Thank you!
Welcome to Finland, Renata! I hope you'll enjoy Jyväskylä and got chance to visit many other places around Finland, and Europe too! Remember to admire the architecture of the university campus. It's by famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto!
Thank you! I'm excited to go to other places in Finland (I was in Tampere Turku Helsinki and Lahti) and especially to go see my friends in Poland too. And yes I heard the campus is by Aalto which is exciting for me as someone who loves architecture.
Wow! An awful lot has happened to you in a couple of years. Great sadness in the background, I will take part in it. I myself lost my father just before last Christmas. Fortunately, a lot of good things have happened to you. I warmly welcome you to Finland and wish you luck and success in your studies. I hope your dreams come true, you deserve it.
🫂 my condolences for the loss of your dad. It's so hard to lose a parent. I miss him everyday but it does get easier over time and the sadness gets replaced by the good memories.
Wow, welcome to Central Finland!
The University of Jyväskylä has a special place in the history of the Finnish education system and the city of Jyväskylä was recently chosen as the second most attractive city to live in by Finns. The first was Tampere which isn't that far away either.
It is a small town so we are headed for that winter hibernation soon. Not quite yet, though. This weekend there is the Rally World Championship so even if you're not interested in motorsports, that might be a good way to catch some glimpses of the place on TV or online. Just to get into the spirit or something!
Thank you! I am so excited to experience what the region has to offer. I like smaller cities so it should be good, and the nature around looks great too,
Yes thank you for mentioning the history of the town. It is special multiple ways. It was the first town in Finland to bring up higher education for women and in finnish. It was the birth town for women rights being equal with men in Finland with education. This women movement gave priviledge for women to vote (the first country in Europe and the second in the world after New Zealand).
IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! This is my dream too!! I hope one day i can move there as well 💕 I’ve been following you on Twitter for a while as another Finland-obsessed American and seeing this vid on my tl made me gasp of joy because i know how much you adore this country. I hope you get to live ur BEST LIFE in Finland queen!! I’m going to Finland this month for the first time and i feel like I’ll definitely relate to the crying every day HAHAHA💞💞💞💞
Thank you! You will have an amazing time! When I went it was great despite the cold weather, so to go in summer will be awesome!
Wow!! Wellcome to the Finland. Tervetuloa Suomeen! 🇫🇮🎉
@@TheTulilintu Kiitos!!
Amazing, well done on the success of your research proposal! And welcome welcome! It really isn't easy at all to get a grant, congratulations!!! I hope the Jyväskylä Uni offers some support for organizing your life here (eg. helping to find a place to live in etc)... there usually is a quite active international student scene in Finnish universities, the community can often be a remarkable help with practical matters! Don't forget to ask your loyal troops here if you need help - from natives or others :D
Thank you! So far the people at JYU have been great and very helpful. Surely there will be challenges along the way but I know it will be worth it.
THIS IS SUCH COOL NEWS OMG
I'm so excited 🥳

I don't mind the cold or snow! I visited in February and it was fine for me.
Welcome to my city! I hope you like it here!
This video somehow made me so happy that I almost cried.
Awww 🥹
You did great job learning finnish, after all,its one of the most difficult languages.Good luck with your job at Jyväskylä University!Jyväskylä itself is very good place to live, its big enought to enjoy "city life" and at the same time, offers great opportunities to "stay alone"and spend time in nature.
Thank you! Yes Finnish is very hard. I also speak Polish, which is known to be hard, but Finnish is harder. I'm excited to live in Jyväskylä as I love being in a student city and love nature too.
WTF (Welcome To Finland). Will be interesting to see what you think as you come here in the toughest time of the year with 6 months of darkness and cold. But i hope its not too bad after it summer feels really great.
😂 thanks! I was in Finland in February before and I'm from the north so I don't think the winter will bother me. My dog won't like it tho
Welcome here. 😊
Thank you!
Holy heck, what a surprise. Welcome welcome and hopefully you will just absolutely love it here. The baked sweets scene in this corner of the world is absolute ace, keep an eye on them small bakeries and coffee shops.
The festival summer is quite healthy too, in addition to the big ones there's lots and lots of small interesting music events and all kinds of cool cultural stuff peppered all around the country.
If triathlons interest you Finntriathlon might be worth checking out some year, i've met then PM Stubb there couple times while he's been taking part of the competition. Tho wasn't there this year, probably busy doing whatever presidents happen to do, who knows.
Also Museokortti aka museum card might be worthy investment. 80 euros and if i remember correctly that gives you access to over 300 museums, galleries, and things of that nature all around the country. Would make mean addition to any potential roadtrips lol.
Thank you! I’m so excited for all the new experiences. Last year I didn’t get to try the cream puff thing so I need to do that! I’m not really much of an athlete but I do love to watch sports, looking forward to all the hockey games for sure. And of course the concerts and festivals too. I already have a ticket for portion boys in November 😊 thanks for the tip about the museum pass!
@@espotpod Very epic, and ofc gz for the job, or research position, or whatever the correct term is. Completely forgot to congratulate on that one lol. My personal favourite from the bakeries is tippaleipä, hands down. It's probs not super unique to finland since it's basically just deep fried dough but it do be going hard. Around Vappu they are everywhere but i'm sure there are places that carry them year around.
@@sebulsthanks! I love anything fried so I know I’ll like it! Definitely excited to try new foods.
Haha so happy to see you in my recommended! 🥳Hope you have been doing well and welcome to finland! ☺T. Your old teacher

Welcome ❤❤ I hope you're not moving right before the winter 😂😂 if so, remember that after the dark winter (which has it's own wonderfulness), there comes an amazing summer with nights full of magical sunlight ❤ summers are wonderful here. And remembwr to embrace the fall and winter, light some candles and just cuddle up to the corner of your sofa to read ❤❤ hope to see you!
Thanks! I arrive the last day of September, so right as the weather will be turning bad. But I'm excited to be able to skate on the lake so the cold isn't all bad for me. Plus I love spending time inside under a blanket on the couch 🛋️
Jyväskylä is nice city. Ofcourse city by finnish standards, internationally talking its more like village - but it IS nice one ;) (hint "kylä" in the name means literally village). I suppose for foreigner Jyväskylä is one of the easier cities to move to as its university city so theres more people from all around the finland and world to begin with, so there is a little bit more all sorts of activity going on at any given time.
I hope youll have great time over there!
Thanks! I grew up in a village in the northern US, and also lived in big cities, but I prefer smaller cities! In Poland I lived in a medium size student city called Lublin and I loved it there.
Welcome!!
Thanks!

You'll probably love Jyväskylä because they make this skating path on the lake every winter. And only 45 min drive to Himos and Jysäri 90's festival 🎉
Yes I am sooo excited to skate on the lake! I will be bringing my skates with me!
Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your new life in the Athens of Finland.

Welcome to disappoint -- Really have fun in Finland!
Thank You for Your kind words of my country. About the hockey arenas. Nokia arena is the best. It is in Tampere, my home town. There are two teams: Ilves and Tappara. My team is Ilves. I will gladly get the tickets and of course pay, but it will have to be an Ilves game. I am 61 years, I am a psychiatrist and I would be very honoured to show You the town. Warm wellcome to Finland in any case.
Nokia arena is definitely the best, it's great even by American standards. I was there for UMK but I'd love to go for a hockey game, and if it could be a Ilves-Pelicans game that's even better!
Welcome to Finland
Thanks!
Great ! Jyväskylä is like heart of Finland 😃
Welcome! We will see you on some gigs, for sure! 😀💚 (You probably know that Käärijä mentions Jarkko Ruutu in the Mic Mac lyrics).
Haha yes for that reason mic Mac is my favorite song by him 😂 if you see me at a gig come say hi!
@@espotpod Did you know that Jarkko's brother Tuomo is an assistant coach in Florida Panthers? He was part of the team that just won the Stanley Cup.🏆
@@frankblack1174 I did! I was so excited when I heard. I remember hearing some story about how Jarkko injured one of his brother with a knife and wondered if it was Tuomo but couldn’t find where I had read it. Do you know about this?
@@espotpod Yes I know! Not Tuomo. It was told in Jarkko's book. He had quite a temper as a youngster and after a small fight he threw a small kitchen knife at his other brother Mikko. He threw it quite hard into Mikko's arm so it stuck there. After that he said he was in full panic because dad was coming home soon and little brother has a bread knife stuck in his arm.😅
@@frankblack1174 hahahaha yes that sounds like what I remembered hearing 😂 he had that same bad boy energy when he played for the Penguins, got in a lot of fights, but was actually a pretty skilled player and not just a goon.

How exciting! Welcome to Finland! Jyväskylä is a very nice town. I have family there, so I've spent some time there. I'm hoping you like it! Hopefully you'll visit my hometown, Kuopio, in the heart of Savo area. Some UMK favorites are from our area.
Thank you! I plan to visit Kuopio for a hockey game!
@@espotpod We Savo people, by jokingly, call our market square the center of the universe. Or in Finnish actually the belly button of the world, as the world evolves around it. 😀 There's even a sign in the middle of the market square, which says that. Check it out when you come!
@@MarifromKuopio the city of Vantaa website says vantaa is the armpit of the world 😂

Hi Renata, welcome to Finland 😊! I live in Mikkeli and even though I'm already an older lady, Käärijä is also my favorite artist. I was at his gig here in Mikkeli. You have a lovely dog, a Chihuahua girl. I have a chihuahua boy, Timo, who looks a lot like your dog. Maybe we'll meet sometime 🐶😊💕.
Thank you! I hope to visit Mikkeli for a hockey game this season. How does Timo do in the winter? Chihuahuas are notorious for hating the cold.
@@espotpod 💕Hi 🙂🐶, Timo doesn't like the cold either. He is playful, but loves to rest indoors in a sunny place inside or e.g. on the terrace in the summer. In the winter, I wear a suitable coat for him, depending on how cold it is. In severe frost or on an icy street, he needs to have warm slippers on his feet. The pet stores here have a good selection of dog equipment. In the summer in Finland, it is wonderful to go outside with the dog. Your dog will do well here 😊🐾💕
@@sirpanupponen4951 I will definitely do a video about teaching cookie to wear booties! She will hate them as much as the snow 😂
