    The Lake George Fire Department responded to numerous reports of a structure fire at 7 Bradley Street at the north end of the village. A passing firefighter from a neighboring department called the 911 center to confirm there was a well involved garage fire at that location. The first due engine laid a supply line from the bottom of the street up to the scene. While the supply line was being established, a deck gun was used to knock down the flames as the garage was in close proximity to the house. Additional manpower was provided on the scene from Bay Ridge Fire Dept.

    I understand protecting the exposure but at the same time there were people walking around that could have gotten another line off the engine and actually put out the fire.

    if the truck had taken the garage door first thing, the jump line off the engine could have knocked it down in half the time.

    The guys on the D side of the shed did a great job. Not sure why that was the only line operating but if they only had one line to work with then it was used very effectively.

    Y'all should learn how to put out a fire. Why you have one hose spraying a wall. Put water thru the collapsed garage door.

      the garage was a goner but I saw they were moving back and forth to cover the exposures and still hit the garage while sending in personnel to check the inside of the house.

      If you move the hose line to the front of the shed, and put the fire out,,,, no exposure problems.

    • @Theupstateidiots
      @Theupstateidiots 2 роки тому

      @@JosephRHuber the fire was fed by two 100 lb propane tanks, leaking around the threads of the valve. Put them out, and you have a non visible gas. Also, the garage had a converter for vegetable oil into bio diesel inside. The garage was gone from the beginning. There was also a 200lb tank behind the shed but thankfully that one was able to be secured.

    Is it just me or was exposure 4 (the residence) amouldering all this time? At the very least, take a can and wet it down before you establish a water supply. The house is much more important then the garage. Just saying.......

      from my angle John, it didn't look like the fire made it to the porch but there was a handline behind the garage that was being used back & forth between the garage & the porch.

    If that many propane tanks were involved, they picked a really poor location to park. And why are they letting a civilian just walk around on scene that close to the tanks on fire??? A deck gun only works if you can penetrate the structure and put water on the fire...

    • @andyoxleyonhistravels
      @andyoxleyonhistravels 2 роки тому

      Yep. The bloody deck gun water just deflected off the whole time they used it, lol. Could have made better use of it by just give the exposure a bit of cooling while the were sorting out a hydrant and other hoselines but the wasted the whole tank.

      @@HotShotsFireVideos Total waste of time and water, it just deflected of the garage. Had the garage door been burnt away then it would have been of use, but you dont need a deck gun for a small garage like that . We would just use a couple of high pressure hosereels.

      From what I read after the investigation as to cause of the fire - the fire department was concentrating on protecting exposures. Apparently the homeowner had a propane tank hooked to a propane heater. He thought the propane tank was empty when he hooked up a fresh tank & set the "empty" tank aside. The residual propane from the "empty" tank was ignited by the heater. The resulting fire caused the propane from the fresh tank to blow off as it should.

      There's safe working and there's I'm not sure what to here, the roof and the side of the garage did what there was suppose to do, keep the rain out ie water from the line (jet). Had they open or forced the garage door the fire would not have got a hold, even if the had open the door and let the deck gun take over, the fire would have been extinguished quickly. From experience the only way to knock down a fire like that is to get inside and attack from within unless they use it to store dangerous materials then take up defensive firefighting ie surround and drown.

      @@jelracer98 To be fair we got rid of deck guns 20 years ago. We use ground monitors as you can put them where you want. Deck guns are stuck with the truck so very limited. We never use a larger hose of any kind until we have got a hydrant set in. High pressure hosereels are used for 90% of fires over here simply because they are so easy and quick to get to work and move around inside a structure but i hear you guys dont seem to like them over there.

      @@HotShotsFireVideos I work as a lineman for the local power company. Sometimes I respond structure fires to shut off the power. In my capacity I often notice things like that & move them out of the way. Then let the safety officer know later what I did. Often with structure fires we respond just to kill power to the structure in question. Sometimes if the fire department puts up a ladder on the roof & extends under or near our wires. We might isolate the street or the entire line. Sometimes we call in outside resources because when we drop an entire line? We turn off traffic lights on a nearby highway. We have state police in place before we kill the line.
