One thing that drives me crazy here in San Diego and it probably applies to other areas is when people cut the branches way back to the thick sections which don't have any leaves and then it in some cases dies or just shoots off a bunch of suckers off the thick branches. I see this constantly here in San Diego where beautiful trees are being destroyed due to people not knowing what they are doing.
@@arboristBlairGlenn I really enjoy your channel and can tell you really promote great information and proper tree work. I just get so disappointed driving around watching one mature tree after another getting butchered by clowns who don't know what they are doing. I just witnessed a ficus religiosa, a very old olive tree and four very old bottle brushes destroyed just in the past week. Each tree was cut back to basically the trunk with a few inches of thick branches. The worst was the three huge bidwilliis cut down near my house a few months ago. I will never get over that one. I can think of many more but won't mention them. Thanks Glenn.
Those ants make me want to get a gallon jug and sprayer of that all natural orange pyrethrin type ant spray to help 'calm' them down. :) That stuff is nice (and smells nice) as it is safe for pets and kids, as well as us older folks who get to deal with it.
As much as I hate dealing with ants, I do recognize the value they provide in breaking down dead wood. The new soil that is converted becomes the future tree. Circle of life. www.buymeacoffee.com/blairglenn
My favorite content! Shouldn't that tree be cabled, or was the whole section leaning towards the house removed? I would just look at the trunk of that tree and say NOPE.
That was so interesting that those are all sprouts from the previously cut down tree. Can you guess approximately how long ago that was. The current home owners probably have no clue.thank you for posting.
You tree decisions videos are the best, I love the thumping technique on the trunk. When trees grow out of suckers off a cut tree stump do they in general have weaker unions because of the old decay of the stump and structure?
I have done that before only to realize that there are millions of them still coming up! I don’t like using toxic chemicals for a lot of reasons. www.buymeacoffee.com/blairglenn

I’m working hard to try and promote proper tree pruning and an understanding of how people mess up. Thank you

I enjoy your videos. Very peaceful, and learn so much about nature.
Thanks Alec. Maybe you might consider helping support my efforts?

Taking off the whole section was talked about but our time didn’t allow for that at this job.

At least 60 or 70 years ago.
Sure that's a red tailed hawk feather and not a turkey feather?@@arboristBlairGlenn

Decay is bad and generally leads to failure. When? Now that’s the question !
Just, wondering, Would it have been better to blow the ants off the stump before cutting?
Never have enough time to blow away that many millions of ants I’m sure They are awful things 😱😱
I have done that before only to realize that there are millions of them still coming up! I don’t like using toxic chemicals for a lot of reasons.

I hate ants. I'd be in the hospital if I'd been bitten 100 times.
My old camphor has that center. I'll clear out the debris to look closer. Thanks!
I did feel sick when I got home
@@arboristBlairGlenn Make sure you have benadryl with you on the job, just in case. 😉
If that tree fails, it will be due to the weight of the ants. What a nightmare.
Creepy for sure!
That pocket is dry and looks undecayed. Not like our Bradford Pear with wet pocket and decaying material. 3:44
Been real hot
