Bono played a lot of different characters on the Zoo TV tour. This one is Mr. Macphisto, kind of a devilish figure. You're watching the 2nd to the last song for the entire concert here. The tour was Zoo TV (I saw it in Kansas City in 1992 - it was phenomenal even then) but they took it up a notch after "Zooropa" was released. They released that album during the Zoo TV tour, so in the later staged of the tour, they took on more of this Zooropa look. That's what you're seeing here. "Zooropa" was a very stylized and idealized imagining of Europe (Europa). So they're all just in character, but you have to watch the whole show to get it. The song itself is about an IRA car bombing, and also divorce. U2 does stuff like that with a lot of songs. They are public and private at the same time. Good pick, young fella.
ADR, my man, it has been too long! However, you reacting to this epic U2 *Love is Blindness* ZOOTV performance is purely awesome. I respect your appraisal of this performance, however this particular U2 performance I consider Nostalgic bliss, and a classic! Thanks for your reaction to this amazingly brilliant *Love is Blindness* ZOOTV rendition! 🙂
This song is so underrated & is one of my most favourite U2 songs. The girl was just a fan pulled from the crowd, Bono does that a lot! Gotta love Mr Macphisto .
A masterclass of guitar playing. Anyone that disses the Edge knows nothing about guitars. Always enjoy you vids, spot on and great sense of humour! Greetings from Ireland.
The entire Zoo TV show was mind blowing. You could react to every song and imagine just how epic that show was. The second half of the tour with the Zooropa songs.. Understand U2 put on a show then.. it had story lines built in with characters... the show moved, fast and was just rock solid. Watch the Sydney 1993 concert.. amazing.
Really good song especially live, you should check out Acrobat Live at Berlin where he brought back Mr Macphisto Digital. The name comes from Mephisto (sometimes written as Mephistopheles), a demon in German literature, who works for Lucifer, the devil.
Great U2 song, I love U2's music from the early 1980s when they were angrier, if you want to see the best live performance check out Robbie Williams live at Knebworth singing the song FEEL...its amazing
while like many U2 songs you can pull different meanings, but this one is actually about car bombs/terrorism in Ireland or anywhere. The mindset of people blinded by a love of religion or belief that makes them feel like they are justified in their actions. In a parked car In a crowded street You see your love Made complete Thread is ripping The knot is slipping Love is blindness Love is clockworks And cold steel Fingers too numb to feel Squeeze the handle Blow out the candle Love is blindness A little death Without mourning No call And no warning And also a masterpiece of a song, with some of Edges greatest work.
It’s not his wife. Bono notoriously invites women up on the stage during certain parts of certain songs. This song was about the Edge’s divorce. Hence the lyrics “the thread is ripping, the knot is slipping, love is blindness. Love is drowning in a deep well, all these secrets and no one to tell. Take the money, honey…and my blindness.”
This is an incredible moment in the history of live performance!

He also changed the way he sang with each character.
When The Edge recorded the solo, he played so hard that all the strings snapped one by one. That's the take that's on the Achtung Baby album.
Truly amazing u2 song

The white face on Bono is for a stage character he did for the Zoo TV tour. He did a few of them in each concert,

I’ve been playing for almost 30 years and I’m still in awe of how incredible and original the Edge is! 🍻
@@continentalaquatics2725 he used a similar system to Ed sheeran only more old school
wow what a solo

Bono often invites fans on stage during concerts.
Fans = Women .... lol

@@PressStartOnce he invites dudes up to but to mainly play an instrument 😂

"why am i jealous of that lady..."
hahhahah
When The Edge plays one of the greatest guitar solo in his care, ADR keep asking about who is she ?
Good reaction Bro! If you can: "Every Breaking Wave, live from the MTV EMA's 2014." ;)
This is a great performance. He sings his heart out

The Edge was dressed like "Cobra Commander. Lol

In a parked car
In a crowded street
You see your love
Made complete
Thread is ripping
The knot is slipping
Love is blindness
Love is clockworks
And cold steel
Fingers too numb to feel
Squeeze the handle
Blow out the candle
Love is blindness
A little death
Without mourning
No call
And no warning
