Floyd never too the rematch cluase instead retired 1 year and 1 day.... the new era of boxing was born choosing and picking opponents who are right for you.
pacman never did that, he is the true GOAT not duckweather
floyd clearly won but he was scared to do a rematch haha
Oscar won that fight and Mayweather knows it. That’s why he retired for a year and one day so that he didn’t have to honor the rematch clause.
Nah

Mayweather landed twice the amount. And more power punches. Oscar missed a lot or hit glove.
How? Explain
I saw it back in the day and Oscar was definitely the aggressive moving forward I know he won but for some reason they gave it to Floyd who was scared to fight Pacquiao in his prime
Was Mayweather in his prime when he fought Pacquiao and was he younger than Pacquiao?
I agree about Manny, but Oscar lost that fight. I have watched it many times and it's clear as day that he just wasn't landing significant strikes on Floyd.
But mayweather is older than pacquiao
@@Ro7ardno you haven’t 🥱 How tf do you say Manny beat Floyd and Oscar didn’t when Oscar had a closer fight than Manny did against Floyd ? Bruh you niggas in the comments say some dumbass shit I swear
He definitely beat Floyd, but Floyd also never ducked a fight.Pacquiao failed drug testing when they were going to fight. Not Floyd’s fault. When they did fight Floyd was older and out of his prime.Theres always excuses with Floyd. At the end of the day he fought and beat them all…to make him the Goat of his division and that’s facts.
I’m Filipino-American but I grew up a huge De La Hoya fan. And it was so sad watching him get absolutely dismantled by Pacquiao, even though I was also a Pacquiao fan. I personally think Mayweather is the most overrated champ. I think he lost against Oscar & Jose Castillo. And he almost lost to Zab Judah
Don’t forget his first fight against maidona , look at Mayweather’s body language and face when they announce him as winner of that fight , it was so obvious that he was surprised ,his body language and face say it all all

Mayweather sr said post fight, if you go by single punches Mayweather Jr won. If you go by comnination punches Oscar won
Exactly that’s what he said!
No, he said, if you go by the point system, Oscar should have gotten the decision

Oscar won that fight. You have to beat the champion clearly to take his title. This is why Floyd fought the majority of his fights in Las Vegas and never out of the US. He was always assured of the outcome. He also lost to Maldana 1 and Castillo clearly beat him.
To win by a little you must win by a lot. If you win by a little it will always go in Floyds favor.
I’ve never agreed with that stupid idea. 💁🏼♂️ Where exactly in the rules of boxing does it say that? Have you even ever thought about what you just parroted?
To win the boxing contest you win the boxing contest. Period. You can’t say the other guy won because he only lost by 1 round. That’s the rules. 🤷🏼♂️ You don’t get a handicap because you have the belt. That’s totally made up.
Then explain why one of the judges of Mayweather-Canelo fight scored a draw when Floyd made Canelo look worse than Logan Paul?🤷🏿♀️
The fact that Mayrunner calls himself the Best ever is embarrassing
@shambles2723 when you have 2 of 3 judges in your pocket, what difference does it make how the third one sees the fight? I missed the part where I mentioned Canelo.
Im not a fan of either of these fighters but I remember feeling that De la Hoya was robbed!
Dela Hoya won that fight and was catching Floyd with combinations on the rope,Floyd just was looking pretty catching most of his shots on Oscar's glove.
Now while Oscar had some bad beats on terrible decisions (most notable vs Trinidad, and vs Mosley - 2) this one was not. I had Oscar up after 8 rounds 5-3, but he gassed out, and was tired letting Floyd turn it up and win the Final 4 Rounds and the fight 7-5. If Oscar wins one of those last 4 rounds its a legit draw, but Floyd's long term condition was better than most and definitely better than De LA Hoyas this fight. But a very good fight none the less
Just my humble
You need your eyes tested or you must be Mexican.
De La Hoya got hosed in the fights you mentioned. Gave Trinidad a beating, they say he ran the last 3 rounds ??? Compustat showed he land 75% more punches in the last 3 rounds. And I surely give Mosley 2 to Oscar as well, And I think as champion here, he could have got the decision. they have had it in for Oscar, He has ALWAYS fought the best, I think he's one of the greatest ever to step in the ring. My humble O
Your opinion is false floyd lost
@bayouboy8644 I'm guessing you misunderstood my post. I also think De Lahoya was robbed in Trinidad 1 and Mosley 2. And I also think Oscar was a true champion who fought everyone. But also with the same clear eyes that Floyd was down 5-3 to Oscar and Floyd took the last 4 rounds cause Oscar Faded.
It's my honest perception.
Just my Humble
Ya I had Floyd by a couple rounds in this fight. Oscar had the early lead and Floyd and team banked on the aging Oscar gassing down the stretch, which they alluded to in the corner during the fight also (Floyds team). I also had Oscar pretty handily beating Mosley in rematch and Trinidad. Mosley 1 was a legit loss for Oscar and this Floyd fight but Oscar was also 6 years or more past prime facing Floyd. (also dealing with his addictions too by then) I think Oscar peaked around 1997-99 if memory serves. It is disgusting they robbed him in 2 of his biggest career defining fights (Tito and Mosley 2)
I saw this fight live and I will say until the day I die, De La Hoya won this fight. Anyone disagrees with me can just kiss my ass. And not the left cheek and not the right cheek, but right down the middle.

Making Mayweather the all-time great is beyond laughable. Imagine him against Roberto Duran in Duran's prime, and no sense at all to put Floyd in the ring with Sugar Ray Robinson, who IS!!! the best fighter of all time!

Foh Oscar faded down the stretch. Lost the championship rounds like he did in most of his big fights.
@@Stateballrus Floyd wasn't on his bike, he stood against the ropes and let Oscar throw ineffective flurries which he rolled, slipped or blocked. There are four criteria used to score a round in boxing. 1. Effective Agression 2. Ring Generalship 3. Defense 4. Clean Hard Punches. Oscar wild flurries weren't effective, and Mayweather get's credit for his defense, not to mention he landed the more clean punches. People don't understand, that when you throw a wild flurry against Mayweather and he makes you miss, that's scored for him. Mayweather is the most accurate puncher in the history of the point, hence why most fight will always be scored him. In the 2nd half of his career, he didn't throw as much, but when he did he landed clean and at a higher percentage than anyone else. He punches were clean, and his defense was off the charts. If you know boxing, He wont this fight easily 9-3. Good defense scores you points despite what people may believe. Floyd isn't a runner, which is someone just constantly moving around the ring so that neither fighter is ever in range to engage. He's defensive but he''s stand right there in front of you and let you throw wild flurries. He scores by making you miss, and countering. It also tires fighters out hence why so many guys seem to mysterious gas in the late rounds against him. People really need to learn how pro boxing works. It's not simply counting punches like the amateurs.
Oscar said he was an old 33 year old boxer. Floyd was 30 when they fought. Knock it off!

I always thought Oscar should have gotten the decision. It was a good fight though and close enough to go Mayweather by less than honest Judges. I think a 25 year old De la hoya would have won a clear decision or possibly a knockout. Two of the best of their era for sure.
When I watched it live I thought Oscar could of got the decision then i have rewatched it several times and Mayweather definitely did enough win

Oscar lost!!!
Watch the fight back with 0 volume. Oscar did win that fight. Oscar was the effective aggressor. Oscar was the ring general. Oscar pressed the action and landed more punches. Floyd missed A LOT of punches in that fight. Floyd's back was against the ropes the entire time. Floyd hit Oscars gloves all night. Many of Floyd's punches were not landed punches even though they were counted as landed punches. Even Floyd Mayweather Sr admitted to Larry Merchant that Oscar beat his son inside the ring right after the fight was finished🤷If Floyd loses that fight then the whole trajectory of boxing would have changed for the better. Instead, we are now left with a sport where "picking opponents" is the norm and fighting the best is simply a thing of the past. But I scored the fight 115-113 for Oscar. Oscar won the middle rounds with ease. And keep in mind that Oscar was old at this time...And he STILL beat Mayweather imo💯
@@regularbob you wrote all that just to realize Oscar still Lost tho oh aight then
No, they robbed oscar with bought judges , stay asleep
@@regularbob yes please watch the fight with zero volume. Lampley and Merchant were HATING on floyd like a usual HBO fight. This was floyds first fight at 154 (came in weighing in at 150) and de la hoya outweighed him at least 15 pounds on fight night. De la hoya made mayweather wear those big heavyweight gloves instead of choosing any other gloves floyd was comfortable with. Watch them standing in front of each other and see how much bigger floyds gloves are. Floyds back was on the ropes because he wants to be on the ropes. He moves around the ring and he is so comfortable that he can lean on the ropes and not get hit. He was slipping in counter punches every time after oscar threw a bunch of punches. A perfect example is the 5th round when oscar was throwing and mayweather had him stumble, landing shots from oscar being so wild. He literally moves the same way in every fight. And how is this "picking opponents?" Oscar was the WBC light middleweight champion. He had been calling out de la hoya for YEARS before de la hoya actually fought him. Now i do think it was a close fight so im not saying mayweather won every round... but im curious.. what did your scorecard look like? which rounds did you give to oscar? Lederman is very accurate (imo) when it comes to judging and he still gave the fight mayweather. And who cares what mayweather sr said? Hes not a judge and he was barely a fighter lmao. Oscar by three on my scorecard!!!
CompuBox stats have now been exposed as inaccurate & was always heavily biased leaning towards Floyd's side everytime
I think mayweather edged it out by a round oscar lost last 3 rounds what a shame
I always felt that Oscar was throwing too many punches and missed a lot. Just because you’re being aggressive doesn’t mean you’re better
flloyd missed 95% of his punches also, he just missed by oscar blocking the punches with his gloves so they still made a thumping sound and convinced novices probably like you that they were landing as opposed to when de la hoya missed it was because flloyd was dodging the punches.
@@austinlittke7688 when this fight happened I was like 3 years old but I’ve seen it on UA-cam and it was a close fight. I don’t really go for neither to be honest, maybe more Oscar since I’m Mexican and I live in Mexico but he did miss a lot of punches.
Just don't talk about pacman vs del a hoya lol
I recall they gave you that fight. Over parnell Whitaker. What goes around comes around.
Dude parnell lol, was clowning around to much in the fight
I watched that fight and thought Pernell won too.
I still remember Pernell landed 41 more punches than De La Hoya.
@@ninjamaster7724yup exactly politics happened in boxing you never know what's gonna happened anything can happened in the ring and behind the scenes
De La Hoya is delusional af... he had a measly 9 punches land in one round... that body shot rally was desperation and had Floyd laughing... let's keep it a stack, champ!
Respect, saying the fight could have gone either way.
No question about it he won the fight. Not just this one but he also beat Trinidad
