Very informative, very much I appreciate your information. Question: why do UA-cam content creators think it is necessary playing music over their voice? Important, we came to hear you not background noise. Many folks have hearing difficulties, thus background music/noise quickly becomes extremely annoying, and a distribution from what you are saying.
Hi Ric, thank you for your comment and input. Personally I believe some music can add a nice touch. However, in this particular video the music was too loud, as some other viewers had also commented. I'll definitely take that into consideration for future videos. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video. EXACTLY what I needed. I edit all my videos on my iPad Pro (2018) and I'm running out of space as all us UA-camrs do! Will be getting the T7 for backing up my videos. Love from India.
It would have been a nice addition to this video to see some real life speeds when hooked up to an older machine with usb3.0 only. Would the connection type be the bottle neck, hence giving all the drives similar speeds or would there still be a significant difference between them?
Hi Hannes, yeah that would have been nice. Sadly, I don't own an older machine :). However, theoretically the speeds of the T7 should still be higher, they just won't reach peak performance.

Yes. Mostly because there are no moving parts in an SSD (Solid State). SSDs can fail as well but they have a very long life span under normal circumstances.
Good overview. I am using the 500GB T5 drive and I need to get another drive so I can have 1 for client work and 1 for UA-cam. Plus I am getting the bee Sony a7siii so I will probably need more speed. I also edit straight off the drive on my MacBook Pro in FCPX with no issues.

i am a buyer for a T7 non touch. i see the touch thing as a false security gimmick. if the data transfer is not encrypted using the fingerprint as a key. then it is worthless security wise. I believe just changing enclosure will make the drive open to read for anyone. but it is definitely a good and fast drive.

Exactly. Apple storage is really expensive and this way you just need the minimum, buy the much cheaper external drives and get the convenience of being able to take them with you and use with other devices as well. 👌
@@PatrickRambles yep I prefer using external drives to move it to other devices without having to move it to a drive then the other pc it’s already accessible on the external drive this seems to be becoming more common with high end devices small super fast drives since most bulk files are stored on external devices or a nas I am currently saving up to build a tiny nvme nas with about 10 tb of storage to store all my family’s photos and our movie collection and to back up school work in case the kids do something to their laptops and lose the work

@@steeveeman it's a great drive and I would recommend it. I did a follow up video with even more powerful drives if you need the absolute fastest. But for most use cases the T7 is more than enough.
@@PatrickRambles yes the library, t7 is just almost twice the fast so you I wouldn't worry about library saved on it. Also looking at ssd and enclosure. Like evo 860 though you will only save a couple of bucks. Im not sure if its practical.
I can't decide between the sandisk extreme pro ssd and the t7 normal version.. I will work on a mbp m1pro and windows 10 pc.. what do you think about it?
I have tested Sandisk extrem pro 1TB, T7 and 970 evo wirh ivy box all 1TB. Will send T7 back. Keep 970 evo. But Sandisk extreme pro has the best sustained writing speed. This mac speed tool is lying at all, forget it. It shows 300MB/s, but SSD is writing with 1000MB/s. T7 gets too hot, but Extreme pro stays cool all the time.
Hey man. The SanDisk in testing is the Extreme, not the Pro. I'll be doing a follow up video next week with the Samsung X5, SanDisk Extreme Pro V2 and Lacie Rugged SSD, for some beefier action!
Will the T7 have better performance over the the T5 even when using it on a computer with USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps)? I'm guessing for the price difference it's worth future proofing even if this wasn't the case but I was just wondering as I'm waiting for my Macbook Air M1 to arrive. But sadly the new Macs don't have USB 3.2 Gen 2 (20Gbps) yet.
Hey man, it works great for editing my footage. I haven't tried 8K yes but everything up to 4K 120 works just fine 👍. Yes the drive gets hot sometimes but that hasn't impacted the process.
When they fail, forget about data recovery because both chips are firmware encrypted, in other words no access to firmware hence no chance of data recovery for now, until someone has figured out the way to bypass or unlock the firmware lock.

You mean the library? Yes I have and it works perfectly. I use the 7 now and do the same thing. I needed the upgrade because of the heavy files I use.
@@PatrickRambles yes the library, t7 is just almost twice the fast so you I wouldn't worry about library saved on it. Also looking at ssd and enclosure. Like evo 860 though you will only save a couple of bucks. Im not sure if its practical.
If you plan to take it with you, once we all start moving around again, I would go for the portable one.
awesome vid !
Thank you!
Hi buddy, I have the blackmagic speed tester ver 2.0, but it doesn't allow me to choose drives?
Hey man. That's weird, no idea why that might be tbh.
Good editing
I can't decide between the sandisk extreme pro ssd and the t7 normal version.. I will work on a mbp m1pro and windows 10 pc.. what do you think about it?
I personally find that the Samsung drives work with Macs better.
That was great! Thank you man! Hold my Like)
Thanks man!!
What is better faster after 1yr
Is the speed of T7 faster than the Ufs 3.2 in phones
Will the T7 have better performance over the the T5 even when using it on a computer with USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps)?
I'm guessing for the price difference it's worth future proofing even if this wasn't the case but I was just wondering as
I'm waiting for my Macbook Air M1 to arrive. But sadly the new Macs don't have USB 3.2 Gen 2 (20Gbps) yet.
Hey man! Yes it will still be better than the T5 but it will not reach its full speed potential.
@@PatrickRambles Thx bro!
Any time, dude.
All I’m looking for is an external ssd that doesn’t connect and disconnect all the time and one that windows recognizes every time.
Just bought a T7
Thank you so much!
Thank you as well :)
How does this guy have only 6k subs what the actual F.
Thanks Sean 🙂
yes, thank you so much.
Thanks :)
How is the T7 to edit your R5 footage off? And does it thermal throttle over “long periods” of editing?
Hey man, it works great for editing my footage. I haven't tried 8K yes but everything up to 4K 120 works just fine 👍. Yes the drive gets hot sometimes but that hasn't impacted the process.
Amazing and the speed was Insane
It's amazing! Good to hear from you :)
@@PatrickRambles can it make my 8gb computer faster
Did this make your computer faster
When they fail, forget about data recovery because both chips are firmware encrypted, in other words no access to firmware hence no chance of data recovery for now, until someone has figured out the way to bypass or unlock the firmware lock.
It's never a good idea to keep all your data on one drive.
