    Very informative, very much I appreciate your information.
    Question: why do UA-cam content creators think it is necessary playing music over their voice? Important, we came to hear you not background noise. Many folks have hearing difficulties, thus background music/noise quickly becomes extremely annoying, and a distribution from what you are saying.

    It would have been a nice addition to this video to see some real life speeds when hooked up to an older machine with usb3.0 only. Would the connection type be the bottle neck, hence giving all the drives similar speeds or would there still be a significant difference between them?

    • @PatrickRambles
      @PatrickRambles  3 роки тому +4

      Hi Hannes, yeah that would have been nice. Sadly, I don't own an older machine :). However, theoretically the speeds of the T7 should still be higher, they just won't reach peak performance.

    i am a buyer for a T7 non touch. i see the touch thing as a false security gimmick. if the data transfer is not encrypted using the fingerprint as a key. then it is worthless security wise. I believe just changing enclosure will make the drive open to read for anyone. but it is definitely a good and fast drive.

    It’s mind blowing these external ssd drives are almost as fast as internal nvme drives and it makes buying the cheaper pc with a small ssd like my Mac easier I just hook up a couple of 1tb external drives and boom storage is no issue and my files are easier s to access being on an external drive

    • @PatrickRambles
      @PatrickRambles  3 роки тому

      @@PatrickRambles yep I prefer using external drives to move it to other devices without having to move it to a drive then the other pc it’s already accessible on the external drive this seems to be becoming more common with high end devices small super fast drives since most bulk files are stored on external devices or a nas I am currently saving up to build a tiny nvme nas with about 10 tb of storage to store all my family’s photos and our movie collection and to back up school work in case the kids do something to their laptops and lose the work

    I'm looking for a 2TB SSD to run my active iMovie library on my iMac. I'm trying to choose between the Samsung T7 or the Sandisk Extreme Pro (Gen 1 - Don't think I need the Gen2). What's your thoughts. T5, T7 or Extreme Pro?

    • @PatrickRambles
      @PatrickRambles  3 роки тому

      T7 for sure. If you want the Sandisk, the Gen2 is definitely faster but only if you have the right ports on your computer.

    Good video Patrick, Helped me decided quite a bit, However 1 question. Which usb was you running this from 3.0 3.1 or 3.2? or the usb-c. I'm considering getting one of the 2tb T7 for my pc which only has the usb 3.0 blue port installed. Any advice is appreciated thanks in advance.

      Hey man! I'm running it from thunderbolt / usb c 3.1 gen 2 ports. The T7 will work on 3.0 ports as well but the top speeds will be slower.

    Great video. I have he T5 and works via the USB C to USB A on my new Mac mini but it doesn’t when using the USB C to USB C, it says can’t be mounted, tried everything but can’t get it to work . Has anyone ever had the same issue?

      Hey Peter, thanks! I did get a similar comment from someone under this video who had the same issue with a T7. Honestly I'm not sure what's going on there. Haven't been able to test it on a M1 Mac yet myself. I hope they fix it with a firmware update.

    I have tested Sandisk extrem pro 1TB, T7 and 970 evo wirh ivy box all 1TB. Will send T7 back. Keep 970 evo. But Sandisk extreme pro has the best sustained writing speed. This mac speed tool is lying at all, forget it. It shows 300MB/s, but SSD is writing with 1000MB/s. T7 gets too hot, but Extreme pro stays cool all the time.

    Will the T7 have better performance over the the T5 even when using it on a computer with USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps)?
    I'm guessing for the price difference it's worth future proofing even if this wasn't the case but I was just wondering as
    I'm waiting for my Macbook Air M1 to arrive. But sadly the new Macs don't have USB 3.2 Gen 2 (20Gbps) yet.

    When they fail, forget about data recovery because both chips are firmware encrypted, in other words no access to firmware hence no chance of data recovery for now, until someone has figured out the way to bypass or unlock the firmware lock.
