      @kenvoong5977 you will love it I promise you. Its the most amazing place. Take money for plenty of roses and their cafes. They have 2. And then you pick your roses from the garden center. Don't go late ken as the roses move quite quickly. They always replace throughout the day but I wanted the lady gardener last year and there were only 2 left. I went late afternoon.

    I love your videos. I've said that before, and I always look forward to you sharing your garden. I have three Ives Piaget. They are gorgeous and very fragrant. There is a white rose, Maria Shriver, that possibly is more fragrant than Yves Piaget or perhaps it's a tie. She likes a little shade, grows tall and very upright, with each stem a bouquet and in constant flower. She really is spectacular.

      @kenvoong5977  4 місяці тому

      Thank you mango, I’m never tired of hearing your repeated comments. I just checked online for Maria shriver and it’s not available uk for sale. It’s a grandi flora which are tall, just as well I’ll probably struggle to smell it since I’m only 167” tall. What do you think of yves Piaget? Are you experiencing what I’m experiencing ? Unfortunately even though YP smells super strong, the fragrance just disappears when the blooms are fully opened.

      @kenvoong5977 I live in California along the coast. The weather is mild. I have my roses in the ground. I tend to kill roses in pots because I'm not great at watering them. After work I just don't have the time or energy, so I'm more of a weekend gardener. Here, Yves Piaget's scent is strong and lasts even when fully open. I love to cut them and bring them inside. I have tried many times to root cuttings so I can have more, and I have failed every time. I feed organic fertilizer every couple of months, and a few times a year I'll make compost tea and feed all my roses with that. The majority of my roses are David Austins and I love all of them, but truthfully, it's Yves Piaget and Maria Shriver that are the strongest in scent, with Pope John Paul coming in third, Alexandra of Kent and Boscobel fourth. Your videos inspire me and remind me to get out there and give my roses some love. Thank you.

    Hi Ken. Thanks so much for sharing this video of your lovely fragrant rose collection. I have been on the quest as well to find most fragrant rose in the world. So far these variety's have had the strongest fragrance in my garden- Margaret Merril, Sister emmanuelle, Perfume Factory, Mr. Lincoln, Jude The Obscure and Madame Isaac Pereire. I highly recommend growing some of those variety's as they also don't get taller then 5 feet. I haven't heard of Yves Piaget before, so i will buy and grow it via your recommendation. I will report back once I get my first bloom and thanks again.

      Thank you Sebastian for your recommendation. I have margret merril at the back of garden in a shady area left to defend itself and have never really impressed me. My sister offered me Madame Isaac last week but I refused her offer. I will be asking for it back. Hopefully she hasn’t given it away. Jude is impossible to buy in uk since it’s discontinued. I have heard many good reviews on Mr Lincoln, unfortunately I never buy red roses. Sister Emmanuel looks perfect for my preference and is available in uk. I’ll be adding that to my garden. What place would you say sister Emmanuel’s fragrance out of the 5 ? Is she healthy? Thank you

    Beautiful roses as always! In Japan they bred many outstanding cut flower roses using Yves as a parent. Unrelated, but there’s a variety of from Japan called Gabriel that produces these medium sized white flower with a grayish purple center and a wonder strong scent that I can only best describe as a mix of citrus and expensive cologne lol if you can find it in the UK don’t miss it. Quite a unique scent.

    Yves Piaget is called Queen Adelaide here in Australia. I love its scalloped petal forms which is not common amongst roses but that is what makes it so unique. Child’s Love rose also has this type of scalloped edge petals.

      Hello Carmen, I never knew it had different name. How fragrant is the rose under your nose? yes the petals are really not quite the same as what I saw online and quite unusual. The petals should be much more frilly. I love the rose for the fragrance nevertheless. This year my roses are lot more maturer than previous years with help of Many more added 🙈

    So that's another rose being added to everyone's lists now! I do have to remind you that you haven't yet had the chance to smell Abraham Darby - so I am not going to give YP the fragrance crown just yet. And for me personally even without the fragrance the colours and shape of a good AD make it the most beautiful rose - but I would like to have an Yves Piaget!

    • @kenvoong5977
      @kenvoong5977  4 місяці тому

      Hi Nik, I’m still chasing after Abraham and Jude, hopefully I can persuade Lin to order from lottum later in the year as I couldn’t order 25 roses. Distant drums fragrance surprisingly has an amazing fragrance equal to all my fragrant da’s and raspberry parfuma coming soon which is known to have an exceptional fragrance too. Yves Piaget unfortunately doesn’t holds its fragrance too well losing much of its scent once the blooms are fully opened. Perhaps I may have rushed my full on conclusion far too soon.

    • @nikkonch
      @nikkonch 4 місяці тому +1

      @@kenvoong5977 Do you have to order 25 roses from Lottum then? I assumed that you could just buy a few. I am enjoying the fragrance of Mum in a Million, a new bare root which has produced a couple of huge blooms for me. I find it the smell similar to Gertrude Jekyll - but I would need to bring a rose from each bush together to check that - my memory for smells is not good. My wife says MiaM is a better, stronger fragrance. This pooling of information about our own experiences is what makes UA-cam so useful - and so dangerous for our pockets! I am still amazed by your Gertude on the fence!

      Good morning peter, yes I’ve added quite a few to my garden this year even with little space I have. For me to avoid roses with disease would be feeding. I think it’s important to keep your roses well fed so they’re strong enough to fight off any disease. I feed mine with rose tonic and liquid continuously throughout the season. As you probably know weather and variety can play a huge part too. JayJay and myself few others have somehow created a small group, we’re always rooting for each other.
