With the Lakehouse architecture being shouted from the rooftops, Databricks have released SQL Analytics, an alternative workspace for SQL-savvy users to interact with an analytics-tuned cluster. But how does it work? Where do you start? What does a typical Data Analyst’s user journey look like with the tool?

I am looking and looking but I can't seem to find an example of how to use Widgets on Databricks SQL Dashboards. I'd love to create dropdowns where the user could choose the kind of data they are seeing instead of creating one view for each set of data although it is the same metric.

your presentation is good but I think you need to show how you can attach to different types of data in the lake. What if we have structured storage or unstructured storage how do I engage those different storage silos and make queries

How does this works when your complete data is not residing in Databricks. Can it access data residing in other places which are connected to Databricks and then join with some data on Databricks and then presents these dashboards ?

Great clip. A question about the data warehouse where data sits on the data lake parquet files. Can Databricks SQL cache the data model before Tableau consumes it or data needs loading to Synapse first?
In this particular scenario, the data is sitting in Delta Lake and then Databricks SQL queries the data directly. In the process it does catch it so that Tableau (or any other BI tool) will be able to leverage it. HTH!
What kind of SQL language does it use? e.g. TSQL?
When is the new Databricks UI planned for a launch? Mainly for SQL Analytics.

How do I access or add SQL Analytics to my Databricks workspace in Azure ? Is it a separate subscription ? seems like its missing from my workspace.
Documentation: "Databricks SQL is now in Public Preview and enabled for all users in new workspaces." For old workspaces it needs to be enabled by admin.
Is this really only limited to SQL? Can you build dashboards with other API's like python or scala?
Yes, and not with SQL Analytics.
It's less about being limited to SQL but it's designed for the SQL Analyst in mind. Saying this, please perhaps add a community request on adding Python and Scala support, eh?!
