Mike, I agreed with your list more. I'm in my late 50s. Duke came out when I was 12, so my timing was good, but made me partial to Phil-era Genesis. Seconds Out remains a favorite go to. For me Abacab was a mixed bag and everything that was made after that I considered an artistic form of treason-way too commercial.., Best to you all, P
Wind & Wuthering, "Phil wanted more synths, drums & guitars", "Yeah Phil really did take over creatively on this one", Really? This is a Tony heavy album, Phil had very little influence on the direction at this point, and if you knew anything about this band you would know this.
For me its in this order. I first heard Supper's Ready in a garage party in 1974. I was 12 yr kid with all my older brother's friend and they were smoking weed laced with paraquat? Playing Yes and King Crimson. I snuck in they never saw me the stoners hahaha Long Live Genesis!! “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” (1974) .“Selling England by the Pound” (1973) “A Trick of the Tail” (1976) “Nursery Cryme” (1971) “Foxtrot” (1972) “Duke” (1980) "Wind & Wuthering (1976)
Here’s how I would rank all the albums!! 😄👍 1. “Abacab” (1981) 2. “Duke” (1980) 3. “Genesis” (1983) 4. “A Trick of the Tail” (1976) 5. “Selling England by the Pound” (1973) 6. “Foxtrot” (1972) 7. “Invisible Touch” (1986) 8. “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” (1974) 9. “Nursery Cryme” (1971) 10. “Wind & Wuthering” (1976) 11. “We Can’t Dance” (1991) 12. “And Then There Were Three” (1978) 13. “Trespass” (1970) 14. “Calling All Stations” (1997) 15. “From Genesis to Revelation” (1969) Let me know what you think!! 😀👍
Ok, I was following you till Ben put Duke at #13, and then I had to move on to another video 🙂 Sorry!
And they talked later that Steve Hacket was founder guitarrist, poor Philips
Yes, "Duke" has so many interesting stuff, and the emotion is high
