Amazing...been listening to them since Demanufacture, seen them 3 times and they never fail to impress. This album actually is what helped me get in shape lifting weights at 51. :)
Fear Factory really impressed me with their first album Soul of a new Machine. Since then, they've stayed true to their sound. Obsolete was also a badass album😁👌
I’ve loved this band since I seen them open for Sepultura back in 93…but I haven’t listened to last few albums really because it’s not the Soul of a new machine. Demanufacture. Obsolete. That I loved. Granted those three albums are not the same but are what FF was to me
It's like if demanufacture got infected with a new FF program lol This album really is starring Burton his vocals are some of the most intense I've ever heard right here now cognitive dissonance some these songs are really really good maan..saw them nd static the other night were all still speechless
You have to give it to Fear Factory, they have always been consistent with their album covers. Like their music, their album covers stay in theme, are similar in design, and are instantly recognizable as Fear Factory. Other bands that have done this include Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Korpiklaani, and Dragonforce.
Not lot of older bands can pull of experimental albums these days. It is too risky, just ask Morbid Angel. FF experimented but this is their ground. precise, heavy industrial riff driven pounding metal with touch of eerie melodies. I am fine with that. I am so fine with that , that my favorite FF album is industrialist. I probably overplayed Demanufacture but it doesnt matter.
@@dekapitatorr That is good for you, but Morbid Angel did very fine indeed with Blessed are the sick, wich is also very experimental. That is the thing; Obsolete CAN'T be overplayed. It is timeless(ness) (sorry but I just had to). Look at Opeth, Death, Meshuggah, and so on. Progression (aka experimentation), when done right, is key and necessary.
@@zingzing6550 You're right, experimentation is necessary. Blessed Are The Sick was a great album and had lots of experimentation on it, but it was released in the early '90s. The key to the comment by @dekapitatorr is that it said "these days". Morbid Angel's most experimental album in the last 10-15 years was Illud Divinus Insanum, which was widely hated because it was too experimental for the fans. Opeth lost a lot of their old fans when they dropped the death metal vocals and experimented with 70s rock (from the album Heritage onwards). Death haven't released any new music for 20 years (R.I.P. Chuck). Meshuggah are the only old band who have experimented recently and that had mixed results. Meshuggah have always been experimental though, innovation is their thing. I fucking love Immutable, by the way, and I started listening to Meshuggah in 2007. But I'm one of those fans who are happy when bands experiment. The point is that *most fans* get comfortable with the sound of their favourite bands and don't like it when they try to change. There are exceptions to that rule (like you and me), but not many...

There's still major melody infusion here but I can feel the more trashmetal-like grinding. Both has been working for me since 1994. Sadly this seems to be last remains of Fear Factory. Album (or at least Burtons vocals) was recorded few years before release and such... won't be the same if something will come up I reckon. Top 3 bands for me until the end.
What a pity that the old vocalist left, 50% of the band's success rested on his voice. I wonder if he will still sing somewhere else or has he retired?
the whole lawsuit thing completely killed my hype for this album but it goes in top 5 FF albums for me. 3 outta 4 reunion albums are great, Genexus is solid. I keep getting back to this one lately.
Very pleased with this one .been there listening to these guys since the beginning .still love Burtons vocals .can't say I'd ever not use his style on my own stuff .just incredible.
But Burton said he is done for good. Why can't you respect his wishes? The band is a corporation that is not gonna stop Just because people come and go. Nor should it stop. With thaty being said, I wish they would have picked Rachel Aspe for the role for a fresh new unique sound that stays honest.
@@LCRLive687 The band nowadays is just a brand. No matter the reasons, you cannot replace him, he was the only singer Fear Factory had for 3 decades. The new singer is good but this is not FF. They need to have their original line-up back, otherwise it's just a brand.

After 30 years of going HARD, I think Burton has earned a rest. And this is a good album for him to say farewell \m/

Do yourself a favor and check out Mechanize. In my opinion, it is of similar quality to the early Fear Factory albums that you've listed here.
Can only get better

For me the best album , Demanufacture.
I ordered his sig. Deman.guitar!!!
¡Citan la letanía de las Bene Gesserit de Dune en End of The Line!
Been listening to Fear Factory since 1995. I don't want this to be the end. You guys saved my soul, please get it back together.
This is good, but what we really need is a new Obsolete. The experimentation, the variance throughout the album, the audible blackness...just wow.

Ready for a trip? Ascension of the Watchers - Ghost Heart
He's gonna tour solo

Better than Genexus. Burton sounds amazing here, very brutal growls and not so thin cleans as on Genexus. great farewell album with Burton.
They're equivalent to Metallica ❤
Hot take, better than Metallica every day of the week..

No need to compare. You listen to who make you feel good. That's enough.

Sounds like a C version of Demanufacture.
👎 sorry!🙏
I first heard Fear Factory in 1999. Loved em ever since. They are consistent and have remained true to their style and that I respect.
Nothing special. FF needs the original line up back. You cannot replace a singer that was part of the band for three DECADES.....
