Some old houses can't be saved but I will never understand why a lot of the woodwork, doors, windows, bricks, fixtures can't be salvaged?? It breaks my heart to see these gorgeous old houses destroyed.
@@PreservationEnthusiastIt contained asbestos, eh? So, this video is evidence of someone doing a demolition of a structure without following asbestos abatement guidelines? Interesting!
I would've repaired and updated that house instead of tearing it down. It's history, and it was built far better than any of the new cookie-cutter garbage made today. And if it contained asbestos, there are asbestos removal companies to deal with that. It would've been an expensive rehab, but preserving history is worth it.
Why did it have to be taken down?just curious. Wish i was there, i would take all the bricks you would give me! 😉 post and beam construction, no insulation, i bet it was 60 amp service, and nail and peg electrical service! looks like it would be a great site for a new house. More modern. Sometimes costs more money to renovate to current standards.
It was abandoned several decades ago and the family moved to the house we're currently staying in now. An outside corner had come apart and it was very old/a health hazard due to asbestos in the walls and such. Very sad.
Red Fox from (Sanford and Son) would always call Lamont a big dumby, so who was the big dumby here that didn't take 150 year old inside doors. They're not cheap, "you big Dumby"!!

It makes me sick to watch history being erased
What about 2020 ending?
What is the history of a old bad wodden house ? Its waste its Ready for burning to heat thats what it is.
Yeah because that house really seems historic, definitely not like a normal horrible house from that country
It was nasty inside. It contained asbestos and dry rot. It needed to be crunched up. No way to save it.

It's like a prehistoric monster feeding on the house.

This breaks my heart 🥺
I had to watch it all. No raccoons.
I saw some in the tree next to it after, and some went to the field, but I didn't catch any on video :(

Nice, planned, controlled operator skills; almost as though he had reverence for that nice old farm house......

They were painted. Given the age, likely with lead paint. Probably not worth trying to salvage because of that.
bonito video
If walls could talk i bet it would have some great stories to tell .
I think still with its problems it could have been fixed .
150 yrs is long time
Does anyone ever think to look in the walls for money stashed away.
So that house was bulit
in the late 1860s to early 1870s
This home was built in 1820
That one wall really wanted to stay up!
John Deere 🤩
Is a reason that the fire department could not have used it as a training burn?
That was my suggestion. There's another building directly behind it, so I was told it wasn't feasible.
@@Laurenmariephillips Thank you.👍
