Oliver is the complete package! That’s a super skilled player who knows how to keep it simple and use his strength. He got one of those Toyota motors too, he ain’t ever tired😭😭😭
He fouls but everyone that thinks the nba isn’t physical is crazy. Watching on tv doesn’t let you really see how much pushing and grabbing and contact they play thru. Plus I love how much Oliver cares about these games. He’s taking this seriously which is why he doesn’t give the fouls. Super competitive
Gotta make a player like that respect you give him a little elbow when he get to close when you in triple threat I ain’t saying Jon jones him but make him feel that you’ll go just as far if not further for your respect on the court
I get the vibe that dev likes playing against him because of the physicality. Dev is used to getting what he wants and it's the first time I've seen him challenged. I think most players serious about getting better at offense would enjoy playing against these type of players since it's a learning opportunity.
I love Dev, but this was some good work. Playing against someone so strong and challenging you on every play, that’s why this sport is the best. It’s not only you playing against someone but also against your will to win and push yourself. Respect to both these ballers

@@KG-ic1zfwatch his youtube he plays in Jlaw runs, he played for fiba hong kong (i think). defense is his main focus! but like you said fouling and hand checking all that is part of the game, basketball is a physical sport !
I like that 17:43, this is not an offensive foul? Nice, this is quite efficient way to score, you do it to defender that is smaller than you it will work every time.
Seen olivers video yesterday & subscribed. Watched some more content & he’s legit 💯. He’s a pro & plays hard on both sides of the ball & in all aspect of the game. Even watching his Jlaw runs it shows how great Oliver is. & respect his conditioning cuz DAM 😂 Oliver picks up full court press defense, sprints back on offense for a bucket & picks right back up full court EVERY SINGLE PLAY. He will make you earn every bucket & does not give up on defense whether he gets crossed or runs into a screen he doesn’t care & never gets caught ball watchin. He’s guarding you not the ball. It showed a lot how in the US we be giving free buckets & a lot of people don’t know how to deal with people pressing them on offense. They take for granted being able to just in bound & walk up the court at their pace & Oliver takes all of that away.
"The Gospel is that I am so sinful that Jesus had to die for me, yet so loved and valued that Jesus was glad to die for me. This leads to deep humility and deep confidence at the same time. I can't feel superior to anyone, and yet I have nothing to prove to anyone." - Tim Keller
Thats the kinda bump that made me the player i am, once you see dude will do anything to win, thats when you go in your "will bag" then after that its real iron sharpening iron... no trainer or practice can duplicate bump like this.
Anyone that says he fouling should go look up great defenders like jrue and dort. Just a few for example. They play physical like this but make it not super obvious and when there are 8 other players to look at, it doesnt look so obvious/harder to see. Trust me they be fouling alot of times too. Jersey grabbing and everything. Its basketball and part of the game.
The result was almost a draw. But in reality, Dev played in a disadvantaged situation bc he didn’t get a foul he should.(which is a lot). And in real game situation, a defense like this would get a defensive player fouled out in a 1st quarter. Which means no matter how good an offensive player you’re, you’ll be irrelevant for the rest of the game. For Dev, to put yourself in a disadvantaged situation like that. And accepted the result. Real winner mentality!! Super cool!!
Oliver is going to foul out in a real game. Every possession before the play starts he’s got hands on you pushing. Great person to play against because if you can play against him.. you can play anybody!
Actually I play in an organized league as well as high school. Real organized basketball at any level is incredibly physical. It doesn't seem like it when you're watching in the stands or on television but it's very very physical. The NBA is a bit soft because of the rules but fiba/international is incredibly physical. Yes Oliver fouled at times but many times he was just playing good aggressive defense. Real basketball defense is not what you see in the NBA on tv. It's very very physical and yes theres hands and a lot of touching/grabbing etc. a rule of thumb I'll give you as I was always the best defender on any team I've played on is that you should always play as physical as possible to start and tone it down according to how their reffing it. The reason is you will play some games where the refs aren't calling anything at all so it benefits you to play very physical when that's the situation. And if the refs are calling everything you can always dial it down accordingly
To all the young guys watching this: If someone is saying you're being too physical or fouling, keep playing hard. Obviously respect clear fouls, but in a game you get 5-6 fouls per and in pick up you get unlimited. Use them. Play great defense first but be deterred when someone is trying to shutdown your game by saying you're touching them too much
Call that dude the push off king, I ain't never seen someone push off soooo much !!! Dev was so tired and dizzy because he was getting pushed in the chest every play !!
14:31 he plays good defense only if he learn to keep that have off your back it would be clean but that’s clearly a foul the whole way he was beat already
I like the full video instead of the highlight video. Great work on both sides. This video shows competitiveness and sportsmanship and that’s what it is all about. No hatred, just hoop. The push-off or non-push-off is a controversial call. It can go either way because the level of physicality needs to be matched.
