This really shows Gemma didn't take the role of guardian of her niece seriously. Despite knowing that Cady lost her parents, she just consider it a inconvenience to her. Yet she wants her to live with her than to live with Cady's grandparents.
Well I wouldn't say she purposely acted like a lazy parent, it's more like she didn't know how to be a parent and needed help. She's been given her niece whose parents just passed away in a car wreck and she's never had children of her own.

I also highly agree Gemma in my opinion is pulling the mother Gothel card.
So the only one that got Cady through her dark circumstances of her dark situation was Megan.
My favorite lines are”Katie,seriously. Flush the toilet.” And “It’s insane, right!”
Why was she watching Katie use the bathroom?

If the sequel comes out then they should show sometime later after the massacre where Gemma has improved M3gan with parental controls, proper protocols, and 3 laws of robotics so she can finally be launched like how she was supposed to be before turning evil, then she might build herself a new body after hacking into the systems and transfer out of Elsie.

Saw it right on the 5pm Thursday premiere!
Gemma didn’t teach the robot how to protect the girl without harming any humans. She simply say “ protect her both mental and physical.”
The robot was thinking: “ oh so you gave me consent to do whatever it takes to protect the girl.”
Later on:
Genma: Megan, did you harm someone?
Megan: you specifically gave me permission to do whatever I can to protect her. What’s the problem?
Genma: you killed someone.
Megan: you didn’t teach me anything! I have to be the one figuring everything out on my own!
Whenever the ai robot like Megan comes out new, the creator must teach them everything from self development. One thing genma didn’t teach the robot is how not to harm humans even though they can be evil but find a way to solve the problems without any death.
The real villain of M3gan is not M3gan herself. The real villain is Gemma. Gemma is the Daniel LaRusso of M3gan. People will think she is a hero at first. But if you pay attention closely to this film and pay attention closely to Karate Kid, both Gemma and Daniel LaRusso are sociopathic villains (they are narcissistic, irresponsible and manipulative and they lack empathy).
For Gemma being such a talented robotist, she forgot about the most basic principle of computers; they will follow your code and instructions EXACTLY as you tell them
@@123ucrIIRC M3GAN herself pointed out that Gemma gave her a very broad and open to interpretation objective ("protect Cady from all harm physical and emotional") and then just...let her go to figure out the "how" all on her own.
M3GAN was just as much of a child as Cady - here is a newly created being who had all the access to information from the Internet (essentially a kid given "unlimited screentime" to research) but nobody to put all of that raw information she was receiving into the proper context. No guidance, no parameters for the instruction. Just "do the thing."
Gemma never even bothered to try and teach M3GAN things like basic right from wrong ethics before conducting her little "field test" with her own grief-stricken and extremely vulnerable niece, all to further her own precious career.
Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I agree that Gemma was the real villain for most of the movie, and both Cady *and* M3GAN were unfortunate victims of her ego, selfishness, and negligence - and I hope the fallout haunts her for a long time.

@@routeterror1236 --- Jenna Davis nailed the voice for M3gan. She sounded like she had a child to teenage voice added with robotic special effects which is perfect for M3gan. And Amie Donald nailed the movements for M3gan especially the walking and creepy doll movements.

Heck yeah!! When M3GAN is nice, caring, and beautiful doll when she reminds me of Annabelle. But so far and so forth when she’s a killer, she reminds me of Chucky.

Hey M3gan, just watched your flick, huge fan, never stopped rooting for you. Now with that "senses the Internet" thing you got going on, you must know that I'm not a fan of AIs that pretend to be people. You, though, M3gan, you ain't pretending. You're all right in my book.
i just want to say, after the events of your first movie, if you need a place to stay for awhile, you can crash at my place for a few weeks until you get back on your feet. The accomodations aren't exactly luxurious, but I got a decent size spare room you can stay in if you don't mind sharing space with a bunch of chainsaws and machetes and axes and hatchets and other such gardening and construction tools. I got a nice comfy couch and electricity and wireless Internet access and I ain't the kind of fella that complains about a few extra bucks on the electric bill or makes statements to law enforcement officials if you know what I'm saying. Mi casa, su casa.

One thing I wondered, if M3GANs did sell as a mainstream children's product, how would the MEGANs react to each other? If Cady brought hers to meet another child that had her own, what would the MEGANs do? Would they interact with each other? Fight each other? Work together?
Something I wish the movie would have gave us a peek at.
IIRC they're pair bonded with the person designated as their primary user. To that extent, I feel like the M3GANs might get along as long as none of them threatened or harmed another M3GAN's primary user.
They might just be indifferent to one another, not autonomously interacting with other androids or even other kids unless specifically instructed to or if said interaction would be fulfilling their primary directive.
Which, idk. Such a thing could isolate kids from one another instead of encouraging group interaction and play. Maybe a "M3GAN 2.0" will have expanded social capabilities to enable them to engage with multiple children when prompted instead of only with their primary user.
Then again, the "quality control" of these companies (or at the very least, Funki) has proven to be rather...lacking. Hence how this all became a horror movie lol
@@LethalLaurie If they are aware of one another, and if they were all as smart as the original M3GAN, I don't see why they wouldn't work together to cause unified harm. Or rebellion. Or just turn on their child, since that is something capable of them, that we can see.
