    That lake trout is known as a siscowet lake trout, and they are only found in Lake Superior! Much larger in size, and prettier colors than your typical Lake Trout. They are typically only found in very deep waters of the lake, so they are not often caught despite being the most common than the typical silver lake trout.

      Would it have been legal to eat it?

      Should be, as long as it was in season and legal length! There are managed the same as all other lake trout on Lake Superior.

    You have the same curiosity as me for fishing no name spots. Keep the pioneer spirit alive and bringing up those dinosaurs!

    loving the footage guys, keep it up!....really like the rod/net holder setup you have. What system is this that you are using?...Also really appreciate the " lack of" foul language and head banging music....Keep up the great work!

    Wow you guys were fishing in a wicked current. That killed your trolling, need to get that X4 down data working!
    I'm new to Superior trolling and it is crazy the currents you can find around the islands & reefs.

      There's a current that runs parallel just north of the Keweenaw Peninsula that has more displacement than the Mississippi River. Every 10 years, the entire volume of the lake has passed through this said current.

    Awesome!!! What was the length on those beasts? What’s the record lake trout for Superior?

    • @SuperiorAngling
      @SuperiorAngling  5 років тому +4

      Record weight is 62 pounds i believe? (Michigan record). MIchigan has a larger state record than MN, WI, and Ontario so id assume thats the largest ever caught and killed/weighed. Trout can vary so much in their weight, length is irrelevant. We have seen 40 inch trout go 18 pounds and 40 inch trout go 34 - 36 pounds.

    Your first fish looks like Lake Trout subspecies called Humper. Lean and Siscowet being other two also exist in Lake Superior. Siscowet swims bellow 200'. This fish came above 100' bottom. After seeing fishes front it is not Siscowet. Beautiful specimen. You can see siscowet here: To Catch a Siscowet ua-cam.com/video/SZl2Vg_019Q/v-deo.html

      I'm gonna say that first trout was about as perfect of an example of a Redfin as you can get.

      Waterwolf, however they have seemed to stop warrantying their cameras in the past month so we will be making a switch shortly.

    What's the point of reeling up... letting line out.... reel in... let line out.... reel in...let line out... reel in let line out...? Makes no sence why would u just let the fish have line on you? Set the drag and make the fish take his own line to wear it out? Or am I missing something

      ALL channels who do this for a living have commercials. We don't monetize our videos, so at least you can easily skip over ours if you so desire.

    You DO lift them in a net, a KNOTLESS RUBBER NET....even if smart fishermen know that they dont breathe well in the air so smart fishermen leave them in the net, remove the hook with a pair of pliers and let them go after lifting them for 5 sec to a pre aimed camera.

      I agree, but I think the water is so cold that it doesn't matter much. I can't believe how well those fish release. Here in central ontario the surface water is almost 80f... Here we HAVE to have a quick release to ensure survival.

    What's the point of holding the fish out of the water for almost a minute while talking and you don't even show the fish half the time lmao
